IMHO, there's a significant imbalance, leaning heavily towards the Town. Firstly, all Town roles have defined functions. The Mafia only has killing and redirecting + 25% chance to bypass protection. That's rather limited. Secondly, the Town has a stable pairing with the possibility of expanding to a team of three + the Chessmaster can identify a friend. That's a strong advantage. Thirdly, the Town has two blocking roles. Fourthly, the Mafia has too many telltale signs – the gramophone, the Hatter with the Illusionist, the General if the Director fails, the additional role, and the overpowered Thief. Something else. x)

It would be good to add some stronger abilities for the Mafia.

Added 1 minute ago
For example, a double kill.

I've made some adjustments to certain roles in the thread.

And here is the setting. It's a pretty worn-out theme—inquisitors, demon worshippers, sorcerers, etc., etc.—but still. What do you think? How is the balance; maybe something should be changed?

Witch Hunt

Western Europe. Mid-15th century. The Holy Inquisition, which began its activities relatively recently, attempts to root out the heresy that permeates the city. In their fanatical desire to rid themselves of all who contradict the Catholic Church and the dogmas of the Catholic faith, the Inquisition stops at nothing and often goes too far, accusing innocent people of witchcraft and demon worship. Meanwhile, behind their backs, real sorcerers and demon worshippers conduct their rituals and propagate their teachings...

The City

Grand Inquisitor. Head of the Catholic Church tribunal, a humble servant of the altar authorized to seek out and root out the pernicious delusions of heretics in all surrounding lands. He has set for himself a single, and as he believes, holy goal—the extermination of heretics.
Night Action (NA) – status check: believer/heretic.
Special – double vote during voting. 50% chance to survive an attack (does not protect against poison). Sends a decree to the Executioner to execute a player.
Status – believer, cursed

Bishop. Head of the city diocese; all local churches and monasteries are subordinate to him. He longs to cleanse his lands of heresy spread by witches and demon worshippers.
NA – Prayer. Heals a selected player. (Does not work on Demon Worshippers).
Status – believer, pure

Executioner. The city's chief killer. Tortures those suspected of heresy and witchcraft, carries out the sentence of execution or corporal punishment given by the Grand Inquisitor.
NA – Execution. Receives a decree from the Grand Inquisitor to execute a player. (Executes the player the following night. Protection, prayer, and resurrection do not work. If recruited by demon worshippers, execution is optional).
Status – believer, cursed

Count. Owner of all lands in and around the city. Provides active assistance to the Bishop and Grand Inquisitor in their activities, while secretly adhering to heretical views.
NA – compares the statuses of two players. (Receives results for both statuses).
Status – heretic, pure
Special – cannot be killed on the first night; a Knight may disrupt the kill and can communicate with him.

Knight. Loyal vassal of the Count, devoted to him in all things, ready to protect his lord until the end.
NA – protects a selected player; 50% chance to kill the attacker.
Status – believer, pure
Special - Knows the Count and can communicate with him. If the Count is killed, he joins the Templars.

Witch Hunter. A man excommunicated from the church by the Bishop. He tries with all his might to atone for his sins before the church to restore his good name.
NA1 - status check: pure/cursed
NA2 – kills a player with "cursed" status; leaves no evidence, bypasses any protection.
Status – believer, cursed
Special – if he checks the Witch, he learns her nickname but cannot kill her.

Blacksmith. A master of his craft. Can forge anything from metal that one's heart desires. Forges weapons for the Count and his vassals.
NA – Heavy Hand. Blocks a selected player. (Exceptions: Warlock, Templars, Grand Inquisitor, Witch Hunter)
Status – believer, pure

Moneylender. An old Jew who has put many craftsmen and petty nobles into a debt pit. He is disliked by all the city's residents.
NA – Bribe. Bribes a selected player; during the day, the player cannot vote. (Exceptions: Templars, Grand Inquisitor, Bishop, Count, Knight).
Status – heretic, cursed

Thief.
NA – steals the NA of a selected player (Can use NAs such as: healing/killing/protection; if protecting a player, he dies).
Status – believer, cursed

Victory Conditions: no Occultists or Demon Worshippers remain.

Demon Worshippers

Antichrist. Considers himself the son of Satan himself, come to earth to overthrow the rule of the Church of God and establish the rule of the Church of the Devil.
NA – Black Mark. For one night, changes a selected player's statuses to their opposites.
Status – believer, pure
Special – if going to kill, 50% chance to leave no evidence.

Prophet. Predicted the coming of the Antichrist to earth, his victory in the struggle against the Catholic Church, and the subsequent rule of the Devil on earth.
Status – heretic, pure
NA – Sermon of Satan. 50% chance to win over a player with "cursed" status (exceptions: Grand Inquisitor and Occultists).

Adept. A loyal servant of the order, deeply believing in its ideas and principles.
NA - Sacrifice – sacrifices a selected player to Satan.
Status – hereticess, cursed

Black Mass. All NAs directed against demon worshippers this night do not work.

Victory Conditions: no believers or occultists remain.
P.S: The mafia has 2 NAs per night; all can kill.

Occultists

Warlock. A dark wizard who has dedicated his entire life to the study of black magic.
NA – Nightmare. Blocks a selected player.
Status – heretic, cursed

Witch. A young and very beautiful girl specializing in poisons and curses.
NA1 – Drop of Poison. Poisons a selected player; they die the following night. (Knight's protection does not work).
NA2 – Curse. The NA of a selected player has a 50% chance of failing.
NA3 – Seduction. Searches for the Grand Inquisitor; if found, seduces him and receives the results of all his checks and the same sentence.
Status – hereticess, pure
Special – cannot be executed by the Executioner.

Sorcerer. The Warlock's best student, striving in everything to be like his teacher.
NA – Retribution. Kills a selected player.
Status – heretic, cursed.

Victory Conditions: no believers or Demon Worshippers remain.
P.S: The mafia has 2 NAs per night. (Poisoning and killing can be used in one night). All can kill

Templars

Grand Master. Head of the secret order of Templars, which preserved its existence despite persecution by the church.
NA1 – Silence. Takes away the voting right of a selected player. (Receives a double vote).
NA2 – resurrects a selected player.
Status – believer, pure

Marshal. Third in the order after the Grand Master. Commander of the Templars on the battlefield. After the death of the Grand Master, gains the ability to use his NA.
NA 1 – protects a selected player with believer, pure status; kills the attacker.
NA2 – 50% chance to kill a selected player.
Status – believer, pure

Prior. Chief treasurer of the order; manages all income and expenses.
NA – none
Status – believer, pure

Victory Conditions: no Occultists, Demon Worshippers, Grand Inquisitor, or Bishop remain.

Feature – cannot be executed by the Executioner.
There is nothing like that written in the description of the Executioner. Maybe you are confusing it with the Witch Hunter? Why can't anyone kill it?)

Do Templars recognize each other?

No, I'm not confusing it, I just didn't add this point to the executioner's description.
Yes, she is special.
P.S.: Templars and demon worshipers can kill her, and she can also be executed.
do the templars know each other?
Yes, they are like the third mafia.

Is there no mana at all? What does the double status value mean? And where the hell is Hos? How much longer will we have to play without him?

Is there no mana at all?
There is no mana.
What does the double status value mean?
It means exactly that, a double status:rolleyes:
It's done to confuse players more. And there are two checkers, for whom only one of the statuses matters.

What does the dual status value mean?
The 18th Mafia very clearly demonstrated this addition to the game. Verifiers become very important in such a game.
And where the hell is Hos? How much longer will we have to play without him?
He only missed one game. Do you want to kill him already?

Actually, the third question was the most important, but you're talking about statuses. :smile22:
