There's a bug with the "Fortress" faction's scouts/assassins/stalkers (they seem to be called "platoons"). It says they can turn invisible, but you can't cast the invisibility spell (the unit's spellbook is inactive).

There's no way to simplify it. And the mod has nothing to do with it. It's an old game. Even if you install the most powerful processor, the game won't be able to use it at 100%.
The only way to fix this is by tinkering with the engine, but I doubt modders can do that, especially without the game's source code.

When the game loads, it displays an image of one of the city types. I like the rotation itself, but is there a way to remove some of the cities? Some races are a bit disappointing.

Because this concerns the game itself, it's a bug. When the AI tries to cast mines, it can cause a crash (although there are no crashes when a hero controlled by the AI casts mines).
