What also confuses me is the fact that Nebok started defending Vish long before Vish was suspected (that is, back on the first day). He could have said nothing; according to our interpretation of the poll, the probability of Vish being a Mafia member was 50/50.
Now, Hekasan. His vote for himself suggests to me that he is one of our two protected roles. Quite ironic. It seems that we don't really have a choice now, except to carry out the execution. Especially since we don't lose anything if Hek is eliminated. Now, we definitely don't lose anything, in the literal sense. In the worst case, we'll sow one unit of anger in the Mother.
