Vova was very optimistic about his strategy... Barbarian in the Town Entrance (TE) is noticeably better, whether it's Tyrus on Ivory, a random hero on a random hero, or even Ufretin on Oris.
FAVorite (red, Fortress, Tiva, Bron) def Hermit (blue, Dungeon, Lorelei, Lorelei) 8mm6 232 In the first week, I didn’t have enough money to build Hydras, so I placed 1-6 in the Citadel. I scouted an external dwelling of Wyverns and 2 Behemoths. I took the Wyvern external dwelling, but didn’t make it to the Behemoths.. In the second week, I took a village.. scouted a Dragon Utopia.. In the third week, I’m heading to the Dragon Utopia, visiting 2 Dragon Fly Hives... I see that my opponent is surpassing me in stats and number of castles... I only reach the Dragon Utopia on 141.. it gave a shield +4 to all... I don’t know where to go next... there are many paths, but where is the most important thing? I level Air Magic up to Advanced, and then I’m already running for the stars)))... after that, it’s just a matter of technique, I found everything for stats, gathered Wyverns... and caught my opponent before another Dragon Utopia.. after I took down all his Wyverns (over 30) with Implosion, my opponent responded with a Chain Lightning, killing 3 Angels and a few Gold Golems... and ran away.. then we ran around for a long time, and my opponent decided to surrender thanks for the game
On the first map, I found 3 Imps + 2 Ifrits (1 in the dungeon, nearby). I revealed 3 Conservatories + 3 Pandoras. On 1-2-1, it was empty, very unpleasant, so I rearranged my lineup to another Pandora, but it was the same. By this time, MatrosOFF appeared and stood 2 squares away from the Conservatory, which turned out to be the maximum. We took it and had a FF battle: 14 Ifrits, 4 Angels, and 28 Griffins were stronger.
Vova was very optimistic about his calculations... Barbarian in TE is noticeably better, whether it's Tiras against Ivora, or random against random, and even more so when it's Ufretin against Oris.
By the way, why Oris? She brings free stones...
Ufretin should be with Kents, ideally)). I forgot about Oris and the stones, or rather, I remembered it right after writing:confused: And the strength of the Barbarian in TE... well, there's no personal statistics, I rarely visit hiros.bay, and even less so since they started restricting things, I don't play there at all, and I haven't played TE much or recently - I've forgotten a lot of things, for example, about the guaranteed spells in the tower, even about the bank in the final game :D
Yeah, even with kents he's so-so. Elves are more important here.
and the strength of barb in TE -- well there are no personal stats, I visit heros.by rarely, and when they wiped it right under my nose, then I don't play there at all
The strength of Barb is that the troops there are strong, cheap, and melee. And that bears in Castle are easily set up. And that only 3 stacks are needed for a normal game.
Tiras complements these advantages well, but even without him the strategy doesn't change - same upgrade of wolves on day 1 (if it's not Toad or Buckwheat), searching for a hero with tactics in the tavern and off you go.
A ranged stack is good for slow, prolonged, careful development. In SoD one often has to do this, plus it's tactically simpler, which is why people love Rampart with Castle.
But in TE, where you need to move across the map as a tank to maintain the tempo necessary for victory, approach and brawl hand-to-hand in battles, and break Dragon Utopia on the 2nd week, true tanks like Gosha, Shakhter, Tiras, Fiona-Marika, Brogh, etc., are more valuable.
Again, you can't take archers into Dragon Utopia, so by the 2nd week you already need to assemble 1-2 shock melee stacks. Castle and Rampart struggle with such stacks, and they require a lot of money and building tempo. But Barb can lose 1-2 days of building tempo and still have an army more suitable for Dragon Utopia.
And in cons-hives it's easier with bears than with grands.
Therefore, Stronghold with a choice of hero is rated (by castle strength) somewhere around 3rd-5th place. And Rampart firmly holds 8th place (except for some fans).
Anyway, the latest patches improved the balance a bit, but likely not much. When trading, I usually rely on my personal tastes and those of my opponent rather than the objective strength of the castle.
With a random hero, Necro and Dungeon fall to the bottom of the rating table; otherwise, the ratio of castles fundamentally doesn't change.
I haven't thought much about reverse perks yet; Tower, Inferno, Swamp, Flax, and again Stronghold feel normal there. They simply don't have outright unsuccessful starting heroes. But the other 4 clearly sag - Edric, Urfetin, and whoever is with Necro and Dungeon (besides Gosha-Shakhter) make the start significantly harder compared to the usual.
I won't provide a more precise ranking by strength simply because I don't know it myself, and let there be room for strategic maneuver.
It seems like the chance of getting a specific creature in the Town Portal is huge, somewhere around 100% (maybe 80%, I don't remember), and plus, restructuring will give you the opportunity to get what you need.

I'm hearing about this for the first time.
Restructuring does help, but the chances of getting spells were practically not changed (I think they only fixed the castle bans, but I'm not sure).
The rework yes, helps, but the chances for spells were practically untouched (it seems only Castle bans were fixed, but I'm not sure).
Too lazy to dig through the TXTs, but the chances definitely started to differ and if you believe the calculations, then in SoD the chance for arrow is around 89%, while in TE it's around 82%... For some reason there was even a decrease  In Inferno slow now appears more often, since they have many banned level 2 spells, which increases the chance of slow. But overall idk. :D
That's why Strong is ranked somewhere between 3rd and 5th place (based on castle strength) when choosing a hero. And Ramp holds a solid 8th place (except for some fans).
Ramp has the cheapest and most durable units: dwarves, dryads, and unique units – the latter are even more durable after upgrading! :) Perfect for the Hive and Undead! :) The problem is that in a fast-paced game, you might not get to that point: a quick encounter, especially if it's with a Barbarian using tactics, can make things difficult for the Elves.... although they might also be defeated by the Elven defenses.... As for breaking through neutral creatures with castles, it really depends on preferences and combat skills – versatile players are the best!))) Although, even without angels and with Pegasus upgrades, Ramp is geared towards defeating anyone, and even more so without morale!..... :) And besides, I was just given Ramp to play.... I would gladly help with Dungeon Lord :D :D
I think I forgot too. Please enlighten me :)
Building a strategy based on upgrading towers in case the game doesn't end quickly – usually, you waste a lot of resources on trading, but combined with the bank, you can now always stash some valuables for a couple of upgrades, hoping for a teleportation spell, which you often search for in the Scroll of Erudition, place 4th-level spells everywhere, and eventually give up :D )))
Rampart has the cheapest and meatiest meat: dwarves, dendroids, unicorns — the upgraded version is even meatier! :) Perfect for Hives and Dragon Utopias! :)
The chomping is good, no argument there. But what do you hit with? With 6 horses? Feeble. Well, even if it's 10, it's still not that great. Wolves and bears at the same stage deal way more damage.
So, you need angels and wyverns. But everyone needs them.
That's why we go for Griffin Conservatories — there, wolves under Tyris, with a lucky development, knock out a stack in one hit. And the bears help too. Without Tyris, it's more complicated, but still decent if your native fighter shows up.
But Rampart struggles with building elves and squanders the chomping. It's hard for them to clear several large Conservatories without significant losses (if there's no oil). For Barbarian, there were precedents when, on the second week, the very first Conservatory turned out to be max and was breached with only a handful of losses.
A similar story for Castle and Tower — reliance on a shooter stack creates difficulties in quickly farming Dragon Utopias, increasing dependence on the layout.
Whereas a primarily melee army (and the starting hero chosen for it) is more versatile, clearing territory, Conservatories, and Dragon Utopias with equal success. But it's also more difficult to manage, with more variety in combat techniques.
Plus the leveling factor — specialists in melee levels 1-4 quickly power up their core stacks, while shooter towns find it much harder to level up their 6th-level unit.
Say, for Tyris to have a good life, you only need 2 external dwellings of wolves, and you can even do without bears — a wolf stack on the second week will drop a dragon stack in a single hit.
Recently there was a game with BoaTong where the first week's construction consisted of birds in the fort. And it didn't really matter — external dwelling of wolves, rocs, native village, Tyris lvl 13 on day 117, hi Gosha :), he was cutting down 100 of Gosha's 10th-tier skeletons per hit. Of course, any Dragon Utopia would fall on day 121 without much resistance.
yes, I'm not used to playing without morale yet! :) Or rather, you understand with your mind that it doesn't exist, but the feeling that your main stack is always safe is missing))))
and with morale, such wonders are possible – bam, and the main stack gets chipped, and then halved! Hives are also bad, and although the bonus for them is significant, but if a single, almost defeated creature remains, it can retaliate against the stack, and then everyone attacks it!....... :smile19: At the same time, the Barbarian's defense is like a sieve... I really enjoy it when a Swamp Thing comes against Barbarians – it deals damage, and the stack holds up, if they have morale :D

There's a tricky dependency here with morale. If you protect your shooters, then morale isn't that scary, except that it might bite at the supporting units more. But if you don't protect them, it can lead to a complete wipe.
And contact stacks generally hold up better in combat. Trolls and skeletons simply because they have high hit points, and wolves due to their skillful battle tactics. For example, a maxed-out gnome on stones, when deploying wolves, will fall even with morale if you advance the offense with an attack (in short, so that the stack falls after 3 attacks from the wolves) – it's enough to keep the stack of goblins close to the wolves all the time; if the gnomes get demoralized, they will attack it, not the wolves. Well, and if they take out some units, then remove the backlash with the main stack of goblins.
I ask you to award me a technical victory due to a rules violation by my opponent on day 116. The scout hero went into an adjacent zone, gathered resources, and seeing there was no passage, went back. Meanwhile, he remained silent as a partisan, even though he later admitted he noticed... He could have said something earlier, not 4-5 hours after the game.
Pete and I reviewed the saves. There was a violation. Victory is awarded to KillerVampire. I will update the table later
