Nagan, let the players decide, not just one or two people, which template and version to use.
Right now, I see three people in favor of TE and 8mm, and three in favor of SOD and CM (Vitalik, Keba, Pit) - and those in favor of SOD are active, regular players. In my opinion, why bring out old dinosaurs from dusty closets? They probably won't even remember how to move units anymore. :)
Let everyone who wants to play in Moscow get together and decide for themselves. Otherwise, "the organizers decided everything for you" - in my opinion, that's not democratic. :)
By the way, many people from Ukraine told me the same thing about the Michurinsky qualifier - that there's a dictatorship and a cult of personality in Russia. And in Ukraine, we discussed everything together. It's supposedly more democratic. And not a single player had even a hint of a negative feeling after the meeting in Kyiv. :)
P.S. Besides, as we can see from the discussions, there are a lot of bugs in TE-Lite, and there are still too many differences... there might be arguments later.
For example, I'm in favor of SOD, and I don't care about the template, as long as it's not about balance. I have a good attitude towards 8mm6, although if I play it, I only do so with Vik's article open in a browser tab.
