This RPG map turned out to be quite different from what I expected. At first, I was very angry with the author, but later my opinion changed. After finishing the walkthrough, I ultimately got a lot of enjoyment and can recommend the map to you, but first, read my notes and decide if you want to play it.
Here you play with an ally. The map is good because, firstly, you have a choice: you can play as Blue (Castle) or Green (Rampart), and secondly, there are
3 ways to play it:a) together with a human friend (hence the name);
b) alone, but in hotseat mode, taking turns for yourself and "for that guy";
c) alone, letting the computer control the ally.
The best of the three is the first option; the second will take more time but will allow you to achieve better results. Why the 3rd option is bad – you will find out later.
The map is designed for
very patient players: it will not be possible to complete it quickly; at first, you will experience difficulties due to many restrictions and a lack of resources, but after a few months, it will become much better (although some restrictions will remain!).
I chose the 3rd option (not yet knowing what awaits me!) and started playing as Green.
The storyline and the map's topography are generally the same for both players. The main heroine of Green is Queen Sarah – thrown by enemies to die in a dungeon. Without troops, without artifacts, without spells (only a faithful unicorn and Healing in the spellbook)! But we will not be defeated so easily. We will get to the surface, conquer a new world, gather an army, reclaim our kingdom, take revenge on our enemies, and finally, capture the main source of evil! :smile13:
For those who still decide to play this map, I will give
necessary tips for the very beginning of the walkthrough: without them, you will most likely have to start over (that's what happened to me and some other players who left comments on the Maps4heroes website: after suffering defeat in the first days, they abandoned the map, never knowing how good it is).
Again,
save regularly and more often, from the very first days!
The most important thing at the initial stage: 1) do not waste time and get distracted by anything (skeletons, chests...)! You must move forward as quickly as possible (be sure to visit the stables)! Later you will return to the dungeon and slowly take everything valuable. Fight only with the monsters that stand in your way (a battle with the Pink Necromancer is also inevitable).
2) do not spend money on building anything in your Rampart and do not hire troops there! Why? You will find out very soon!
Run forward to the mercury pot, grab it, and run back – to the seer. With the obtained magical elemental and unicorn, you must destroy the sultan of efreets. Try not to lose any of your warriors; heal the unicorn in each round! Now with the Armageddon Blade, replenish your mana in the well, easily pass through the garrison, part with the magical elemental in exchange for the opportunity to move forward, give the Blade to the next guard, teleport through the monolith to the surface, and capture the nearest village. The worst is over, but you need to move on...
Now – answers to the questions above:
1) You and your ally will inevitably lose your cities on the 3rd or 4th day! Hiring troops and desperate resistance will not help: the enemy is too strong!
2) In the 3rd option of the walkthrough, the AI showed itself as a pathetic coward: even after losing its only city, the ally's hero did not even try to move forward, being afraid to attack the evil eye, :smile17: and stood still until he died! :smile16:
By the way, the death of the ally upset me a lot and caused fear that because of this, a number of quests would not be completed, a number of zones would become inaccessible, or even the map would become unplayable. Fortunately, this is not the case: in this version of the walkthrough, you will be able to get to all the zones that the ally was supposed to master, only much later, and alone, and defeat all the enemies!
Another necessary tip:
do not lose either the main hero/heroine or the heroes freed from prisons; they will open the way forward in some places.
Hint: You do not need to defeat the strongest enemy heroes (Charon, Torment, Darkness)
(you can run past one with the Admiral's Hat or Walk on Water, and the others will disappear a week after losing all cities).If you take on the walkthrough and it becomes difficult, I can assure you: closer to the finale, you will have plenty of resources, troops, artifacts, and almost all spells (Town Portal and Fly can be obtained almost at the very end and only one scroll per player – but you will be able to capture all the cities).
