The Tournament Wars of Mages 2 is hereby declared open.
Winners of previous tournaments:
"Wars of Mages" - Maretti
Not long ago, the beloved patch introduced the Mage Guild restructuring option to the game. The tournament is held with the mandatory use of HWrulez, where the "Battle of Mages" option is enabled, which introduces the following changes to the game:
1) The starting hero can only be a mage;
2) The random starting hero is only a mage;
3) Warrior heroes cannot be leveled above level 5;
4) Prisons do not contain warrior heroes above level 5;
5) The Red Orb and the Cape of Silence are banned.
Organizational matters:
1. Host - skd (ICQ 593626431), Judges - HellLighT (ICQ 649566490), Satyre (ICQ 484800548), Mizrael (ICQ 27384379).
2. The tournament is held according to the Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in online HOMM3 tournaments.
3. The schedule and rules of the tournament will not be changed after registration ends during the tournament.
4. All tournament games count towards the HoMM3 HW Player Rating.
5. Technical results will be assigned for matches not played within the established deadline.
6. Saves and password files for all matches must be kept until the end of the tournament and submitted upon the first request of the tournament hosts and judges or any member of the AC. Forgetting or losing the game password may serve as grounds for assigning a technical loss in the match.
7. Disputes, if any arise, are to be discussed off the forum. To resolve them, contact the tournament host or judge via ICQ and provide daily saves, ICQ logs, and other necessary information.
The judges' decision is primarily based on the tournament rules. If the situation is not covered by the rules, the judges will be guided by basic logic and gaming ethics.
Rules.
1. Game version. The tournament is held on game version SoD 3.2(4.0) + HD mod version 4.1 (or the latest current version) + HW_rulez 1.38 (if a new relevant patch is released, this rule clause is subject to change).
Before starting the game, the following options are enabled in HW rulez settings:
- "Battle of Mages" option
- Mage Guild restructuring
- on templates that are not XL+U size, obelisks are excluded.
2. The tournament is held according to the rules for online games in Heroes 3.
When playing on the h3dm1 template, all bans stipulated by the HeroesWorld rules apply.
3. Restarts total 3 days (111+111+111 or 111+112 or 113).
When playing on the h3dm1 template, restarts - 111.
4. Color choice. In the group stage, the color is chosen by the player indicated in red according to the draw. In the qualification and playoff stages, the right to choose color is given to the player listed first in the pair; in the second game, the right to choose color is swapped. If a decisive game is needed, a negotiation is held for the color.
5. The starting town is chosen by a standard "choosing" method (the second player in the pair begins the "choosing").
6. When playing on the h3dm1 template, the starting town is determined by a randomizer before the game, after which the player entitled to choose color selects their color, and then the player playing blue has the right to first hero selection.
7. If a decisive match is needed in the playoffs, towns are determined randomly by a randomizer, after which a negotiation is held for the right of first choice.
Negotiation rules:
In the Town Selection section of HW_Rulez options, the server player presses "Random vs Random", resulting in a random pair of towns and the negotiation begins.
Based on the negotiation results, one player will choose a town from the resulting pair (or will be the first to choose the starting hero if the towns are the same), and their opponent will choose the color and play with the remaining town from the pair (choose the starting hero second if the towns are the same). The winner of the negotiation gets the opportunity to choose what exactly to choose - the town or the color. In the case of playing with random towns, the goal of the negotiation may simply be choosing the color.
Tournament Format.
The tournament is held according to the following scheme: Qualification. Group Stage. Playoffs – Olympic system.
Qualification Round (additional stage).
Participants are distributed into pairs and play for a spot in the group stage. The match is played to 1 win. The winner of the match advances to the group stage, the loser goes to the reserve, i.e., as a substitute (during the group stage, the substitute player will have the opportunity to take the place of a withdrawn or disqualified player).
Priority for entering the qualification will be given to players with a low HeroesWorld rating or without a rating.
Group Stage.
Groups of 5 people each. Players taking the first 3 places advance from the group to the Playoff round.
In the group, each player will play 1 game against each opponent in the group.
The main criterion for advancing from the group is the number of points scored (a win gives 3 points, a draw 1, a loss 0). If several players have the same number of points, additional indicators come into effect (in order of priority):
a) Berger coefficient;
b) Head-to-head result;
c) if priority cannot be determined by additional indicators a, b between players, a play-off game is held on the skirmish m-200 template.
Group winners immediately advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs; in the 1st round of the playoffs, second places play against third places. Players from the same group will not meet in the playoffs until the tournament final.
Playoffs.
Held according to the Olympic system to 2 wins. After losing a series, the losing player leaves the tournament.
Tournament Final is held between three players. The players play one series of games against each other: 2 matches each – a win gives 1 point, a draw gives 0.5 points, a loss gives 0 points. If points are tied after two matches – a decisive game is held based on the principle of the decisive game in the playoffs.
Upon the conclusion of the games – places are distributed depending on who has the best positive point difference. If the difference is tied – an additional decisive game is held based on the principle of the decisive game in the playoffs.
Templates.
1. The following templates are used in the tournament:
Skirmish m-200, Balance L-U, Panic, 2sm4d, Diamond, Yolka, h3dm1, 8mm6a, 6lm10a, Spider, 8xm12a.

In the first two games, the template is chosen by the standard "choosing" method (The player choosing the color begins the "choosing").
If a decisive game is required, the template is chosen randomly before the game:
The server player, to determine the game template for the decisive match, uses the "Flip a Coin" function 3 times in the HW_rulez options - the resulting numerical code determines the template for the game.

Panic - 001
8xm12a - 010
8mm6a - 011
6lm10a - 100
