I completed the updated version with a hero in 435 days. It's wonderful – simply a classic of the genre. In my opinion, Nival doesn't even come close (see #219). Thanks again to the author.
Thank you, but I think that in #219, the opinion is directly opposite to yours.
3. It's not that it's too early, but rather... it loses its meaning. Why? If the player doesn't have logistics, they'll have to gather resources and build up their army to complete the Walkthrough, and then Andreyka will show up and it's game over. If they have logistics, they'll run around collecting gold from all the monsters and then run away from Andreyka (while losing more than 50% of their troops in the Prophet's quest). If we manage to get the sulfur and escape through the portal, as the Fire Elementals did, Andreyka will reach the crossroads in the time we spend on troops and quests anyway. What's the point? If we consider the option of breaking through the garrison, we can break through the first one, but not the second or the rest. What's the point? If we follow the storyline, then yes, we can complete it linearly. But then we lose the alternative ways to complete the Walkthrough (if we play fairly and without cheats). This is all on Hero difficulty. 4. I mean the option for the player to be able to reach Ayven without completing the quest for the monazite sand and weakening Dominick. Because when I played, I created a pretty decent army using necromancy and the undead converter, and I didn't see the point in weakening Dominick. Or maybe I missed something?
3. Well, perhaps I'll revisit the third mission to consider an alternative walkthrough. But then, I'll probably have to rework the map a bit.
4. Weakening Dominick is a secondary quest; it's not required. The only mandatory task is to banish the phoenixes.
To Eleondor For me, the proposed changes to the 3rd map aren't very clear. If a player brings the main hero without logistics (and Andrias gave him some), it's a planning error on the player's part. The path to correcting this should only exist through replaying the 2nd map. There are no significant losses on the 3rd map while completing the prophet's quest. The map provides an opportunity to feel very comfortable. The only element of intrigue is the intensity of the pursuit of the main hero. (It would be good if there was an incentive to move even after the teleport, similar to Andrias in the first part) I played the 4th map without the Dominion curse. (message #106). And I wrote a lot about the Monocite back in the day (RedHeavenHero won't deny it). The current version is so well-made and convenient.
13ga, you're right, I didn't notice the secondary importance of the monazite sand =( I have a habit of completing all quests =( well, maybe it's for the better))) You are right in your own way, and I agree with you, BUT(!) - what will happen if a person who is far from the world of Heroes downloads the map and doesn't level up the player properly? Will he have to replay the 2nd map in X hours? That's harsh...
I haven't played the "Unicorn Empire" maps for a long time, so I decided to take a look at the new version of the 3rd map. Since my previous version was 1.1, and now it's 1.2, I'm currently sharing my overall impression of all the changes. The old version differs from the new one, just as old differs from new. It's as if a bar of precious metal has been polished with velvet. Wonderful. Andreas now reaches the keymaster, the goblins, which I used to love adding to my army, have been changed, and the battle with Bertrand has become difficult (although here, perhaps, it's just the way the game is set up). Finally, the latest innovation is the chase. The chase was a 100% success. (To the author: Bravo!) Andreas was constantly "on his heels." At times, he was only 2-3 movement points short of catching Varens. My heroes differed in two skill points: Andreas had basic logistics, while Varens had masterful "path of war." An alternative remains for the "slow movers." I couldn't complete the path this way. My Varens couldn't take the second gate without "berserk" and "subjugation" (and probably won't be able to). The computer defends almost perfectly on the "hero" level – I have no chance (although it rates the danger as low). Despite all this, I'm far from thinking that anything needs to be changed here. I like the author's version of defending the short path. On easier levels of the game, and with the changed character development (compared to mine), the gates will be passable. It won't be easy, but that's what the shortened route is for.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the new map revision. However, the length of Andreas's journey depends solely on the difficulty level, although, yes, finding the path can significantly affect the outcome.
Could someone describe the consequences of the choices in mission 4? I don't really want to play as Necropolis, but from the comments and the quest itself, it seems like it makes the game much easier. I'm already struggling to complete each mission with my Haven hero, and I don't want to make it even more difficult.
Helping people → the morale penalty is removed, and a nearby Fallen Angel unit joins you, provided it hasn't been killed by the green faction.
Helping the undead → Arantir gives you his city and teaches Varen necromancy.
I agree, but then I fall behind =( so for now, it's like this... And it's not very difficult to complete in the fifth game if you level up leadership with treasury and machines.
Hi, I just downloaded the campaign. I also downloaded the prologue and epilogue for the campaign, but for some reason, these 2 maps aren't showing up. I put them in the maps folder, but they're not visible in the scenarios. Patch 3.1 is installed, Heroes 5, Tribes of the East. Russian version.
Added after 19 hours 39 minutes
Sorry, the maps are visible; I thought they were named in English, but they have Russian names. Everything works. I started playing.
