well, if we're talking about a fast-paced game... where can I find a Phoenix?... I agree about the Phantom against Vampires... there are no other options for who to attack... besides, I mentioned earlier that Necropolis needs summons to resurrect its undead.
Actually, we seem to have reached a dead end. So, it's clear that a Necromancer needs both Summoning and Darkness skills. Why are we even arguing about this?

Honestly, we seem to have reached a dead end. It's clear that a Necromancer needs both Summoning and Darkness. So, what's the point of this argument?
Well, it doesn't always make sense to level up two magic schools. And I also think the "Inhabited Mines" perk is useful on large and medium-sized maps.
In the 2.0 add-on, I used to acquire inhabited mines, but now they require leadership, so I stopped using that ability.

I prefer to level up in Summoning in short games, while in games that extend into the ultra-late game, it's Darkness. I rarely take two schools at once.
I think it's worth getting both. Darkness is in first place because it's a core skill with all the benefits that come with it. But since Necromancers are naturally countered by things like Reflection, and so on, Summoning is a very good support skill. Because you can use it at any time.

May I interrupt your lively discussion and share my thoughts?
I used to be strongly against Necropolis. But that was before. Then I started playing the campaign, and my opinion changed completely. I didn't expect it, but now I see them in a different light. They're not as evil as I thought, quite the opposite... In short, if I used to hate Necromancers, now I even feel a certain fondness for them... I'm surprised myself. The moral of the story is: don't judge a faction until you've played as it at least three times.
If you don't want to constantly lose, then on fast maps, only those heroes are discussed who are likely to get the "Mark" skill as their first upgrade: Kaspar, Zoltan, Lucretia, Orson, Vlad.
Actually, Kaspar's strength isn't just in getting the "Mark" skill quickly. :) It's in his starting units and his special ability. Moreover, this skill is rare among Necropolis heroes. He has the fastest start, even if he doesn't take the "Mark" skill. With it, it's even better.
I wonder, in a long game, which creatures do players summon and what skills do they upgrade? :)
Kaspar's advantage, actually, isn't in quickly acquiring the Mark. It's in the starting units with his special ability. Especially since this skill is rare for Necromancers. He has the fastest start, even if you don't take the Mark. With it, it's even better.
Kaspar is often banned; I just wanted to emphasize the importance of getting the Mark early, because sometimes completely unrealistic options are discussed. And I can talk for a long time about Kaspar's advantages myself; on some maps, it's almost impossible to counter him.
Interesting, in a long game, what creatures does everyone summon and what do they upgrade?
Hasn't this topic been discussed on the forums for a long time? The answer is simple and obvious: regular skeletons, as many as possible, archers, zombies (not against everyone). But there will be problems with meat, so also vampires, hoping to accumulate enough of them, because, as you know, the strength of these creatures increases faster with quantity than that of others. We upgrade Darkness with Mind Lord (Curse Lord is also good), Attack to BB, Tactics and Mass Haste, Defense to Readiness, Education with Summoning, 6th slot depending on the situation - Logistics, Summoning, or left empty. As an option, we go for the Super Ability.
I wonder, in a long game, which creatures does everyone summon and what do they upgrade? :)
You shouldn't have asked that question. Now the endless debate about the superiority of summoning Skeletons over Vampires will start again... And about whether it's more effective to upgrade Endurance and Defense to make the Skeletons even stronger...
Well, I sometimes level up two schools of magic! Of course, Darkness! And sometimes I take Summoning. And sometimes, instead of Summoning, I take Luck. Well, Sorcery, Logistics, Education. And of course, I also need Defense, but I don't know what to replace with it.
I always take Summon! I respect Resurrection + Phantom on Vampires – it’s awesome! The army’s strength increases by a factor of 2! I haven’t explored Darkness thoroughly yet; I only recently started paying attention to it. When I learned about vampirism, I was blown away!

Should you take attack for the Necromancer? Well, personally, I don't. Attack isn't his primary skill, so defense is quite sufficient; it's better to take summoning instead.
Sometimes, instead of summoning, I take luck.
You're doing it wrong; you can't replace summoning with luck for the Necromancer.

Should you invest in Attack for a Necromancer? Personally, I don't. Attack isn't their primary skill, so Defense is sufficient; it's better to invest in Summoning.
You're wrong to do that; it's a big mistake. The foundation for a Necromancer in a long game is: Darkness with Mind Lord, Attack up to Mass Haste, Defense up to Readiness (if facing a Warrior, but Endurance is essential), Education with Attraction. Then, there are several options: 1. Summoning up to Expert. This is a classic, well-known option (no need for further explanation), but it's not always the strongest. 2. Logistics up to Keen Mind. You still need to catch the enemy, and it hinders hit-and-run tactics and the first cast. Against Orcs, Knights, and Stronghold creatures, it can immediately decide the outcome of the battle. 3. Sorcery. Largely due to Lucretia, but it also helps with high-level Darkness, and most importantly, you can use Counterspell to exchange your hero for an enemy hero if the latter is a mage, as the Necromancer already has combat skills. 4. Luck up to Soldier's Luck. This option isn't very reliable due to the 2% chance of it triggering, but it's very interesting. Alternate skeletons under Vampirism (Bloodlust and Endurance, Claw and a +2 HP ring = 3-5 damage, 9 HP) and alternate vampires with the aforementioned Readiness (Mass Haste!) work wonders. You can safely assume that they will stun and put to sleep every other time, or even more often. Moreover, vampires put to sleep with their counterattack.
