By the way, I listened to the Japanese voice acting for Tox in the video, and it made me not want that version at all. Pros of the Japanese version:
+ The Lich's voice isn't repulsive (I always evolve the Lich when I can; I like his image, but the voice in the English version is awful).
+ Overall, the voices suit the characters better.
Cons of the Japanese version:
- The voices of Yunie and the bell-ringer angel are terrible.
- It's hard to understand anything.
Hold on, but what downsides could the original voice acting possibly have compared to some second-rate alternative? It's like telling a screenwriter about the images of the characters they created themselves.
The Japanese voice acting has a drawback in that there are many squeaky and shrill characters, which is unpleasant to the ear. However, the English version also has quite a few of them, and almost all the other characters are voiced very poorly. At least in the Japanese version, they were intentionally portrayed as squeaky and shrill creatures, and their voice acting was meant to be grating.
