Hello everyone! I want to express my great respect to the people who are trying to organize CIS17! Organizing such events is always a tedious, expensive, and nerve-wracking undertaking – there will be a lot of nervousness, distrust, and dissatisfaction from some of those who are planning to come to the forum, and most often, they will change their minds at the last moment. First of all, I would like to say what I personally like and dislike about Toliman's proposal regarding the championship in Yekaterinburg:
Let's start with the good:
1) I see Yekaterinburg as a unique city, a place where many well-known and active Heroes players live, who are proposing their city as the venue for the meeting, and will undoubtedly do everything possible and impossible to make this championship a success.
2) Excellent geographical location – the logistics routes have long been established and are accessible to players from Siberia, the Far East, the European part of Russia, and Belarus; I hope also for Ukraine.
3) A pretty cool venue – as a place to hold the championship.
4) And in general – the Ural Mountains are a great place (hello, Lizardu).
What I don't like:
Let's hope that the official application for Yekaterinburg has not yet been submitted, because:
1) The dates for the championship have not been determined – by a simple majority of future participants (further, as Merlin would say, everything is clear and understandable – whatever dates the majority chooses, the organizers will organize the event according to these dates).
2) 45 km from the city is very far – did you even consider other venues?
3) I have been diligently searching for 6-bed rooms on the website for two days, but I can't find them! Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? I see 4-bed rooms, but not 6-bed rooms! As Oxy rightly said, 6-bed rooms are not being considered at all as an option; the price should be calculated based on the price of a 2-bed room, which is about 1700 on average, taking into account weekend prices. Two years ago in Volgograd, even 1000 was considered too expensive.
4) Football and volleyball are paid (1000 per hour), as far as I understand, there are no free barbecues, the place for the barbecue and the coal are also paid, as is the place where you can eat – and the prices there are quite reasonable. In short, it's all a bit unclear.
5) I looked at the prices for the conference hall – I don't understand what you mean by "a thousand" – the prices are astronomical. A thousand per day per person? Or a thousand per participant for, say, 7 days of rental, and if there are not 40 participants, but 20, 30? Including the rental of audio-video equipment? With 24-hour access?
6) As a result, the venue will be too expensive for many, unfortunately.
Lyrical sub-item: With the right organization of the championship, taking into account the dates and prices, I think each CIS championship should attract about 40 people. Of these 40 people, 20 don't even play Heroes! 10 of the remaining 20 lose interest in it within 1-3 days after the start of the tournament! And these are still understated figures. What the heck are 7 rounds? You still have to manage to play 5 rounds in 7 days. Most people go there to relax. And again, the number of rounds depends on the duration of the event – on May 9th, I don't think anyone wants to sit around and practice Necromancy.
In conclusion, I would say – resolve all the nuances quickly, conduct 3-5 day polls (there is no need to wait a month – everyone looks at the topic every half hour anyway) and provide objective and timely information. Good luck!
