Arandor’s house, the weather and nature seem to have gone mad. Glowing dust hung in a thick cloud, not blown away even by strong gusts of wind during a thunderstorm that broke out right over the roof of the house, yet left all the neighbors dry. Strangely enough, the victim himself did not consider himself as such and was only slightly surprised.
Злобный Ящур also witnessed strange events – a bright beam of moonlight targeted his house throughout the night. However, this caused no negative consequences.
We regret to inform you that
Ment passed away as a result of a road traffic accident. According to eyewitnesses, he confused the traffic lights and mistook a red light for green. Strangely, the driver who hit him didn't even think to brake and solemnly insisted that he saw no one, explaining the tragedy as an accident. When our editorial team contacted the school where
Ment studied, they found out that the deceased had a reputation as a fighter and because of this often had conflicts with teachers and changed places of study more than once. The only friend of
Ment, however, claimed otherwise. Our special correspondent managed to find out that during a search of the body, the police found a strange green-gold pen and a ticket to a family movie about a dog.
Our bravest correspondent decided to conduct his own investigation and went to spy on
MasteR. First, the suspect went to play at the "Crown" club, where he chatted for a bit with one of the employees.
- Hey, friend! Did you hear there are races this weekend? Let's go!
- No, thanks, I have other plans. A new melodrama is coming out in a few days, and I already have a ticket.
- Is that so. Well okay, as you wish. You're annoying.
- I didn't mean to, I'm good, it just happened that way. Sorry.
- No matter. Listen, I know you recently bragged about a purchase, some book about the magic of numbers. Let me read it?
- Of course, I'll bring it over to you in a few days. But for now, I have to go.
After that,
MasteR left the club and headed to the Hikawa Temple.
Speaking of the Hikawa Temple, today's "sketch from school life" is dedicated to it and its inhabitants. Enjoy! The young priestess was meditating by the fire again. Today the sacred flame was restless, but Rei could not understand exactly what this meant. Perhaps it was just a trick of the imagination due to troubles at school. The girl remembered an argument in the cafeteria and grimaced. Yes, she knows how to divine and exorcise evil spirits, but that is no reason to call her a witch and shrink away across half the room! Miss Hino always used her powers exclusively with good intentions, and in return received only mockery, frightened faces, and accusations regarding the mysterious disappearances of people that had started recently. Rarely did any of the temple visitors sincerely thank her; many considered predictions to be a foolish amusement.
- Rei, are you sitting in prayers again? Enough already, a girl your age should spend time with friends and have fun!
- I don't want to, grandfather, - Hino replied hollowly, not seeing the need to mention that she struggled with friends.
- At least go outside, breathe some fresh air, and feed the crows while you're at it, - her grandfather persisted.
The priestess sighed and went outside with a plate of grain. A flock of sacred crows instantly flew to the girl, arguing loudly over who would get the tastiest piece. Rei smiled, looking at her pets, but soon realized that her favorites were missing. And after a couple of seconds, from the direction of the courtyard entrance, came cawing and a loud girlish scream.
- Phobos! Deimos! No! – Rei instantly sprang into action and drove the birds away from a girl with odango who had already begun to cry.
- I was just walking by, - she drawled, sobbing.
- Just walking by or did someone of yours disappear and you came to voice your grievances to me?! – Hino snapped. – Remember! Now! I! Have! Not! Caused! Anyone! Harm! I! Do! Not! Know! Where! The missing are!
- S-sorry, - the stranger squeaked, looking up at the angry priestess with large blue eyes, - I r-really was just walking by... Do people often scold you? For what?
Rei felt a bit ashamed.
- For knowing how to divine, - she huffed irritably, then took out a handkerchief and thrust it at the girl, - wipe your tears, crybaby.
- I'm not a crybaby, you're a meanie! – she immediately countered, sniffing, - do you really predict the future? How interesting! Will you divine for me?
- Oh, alright. As compensation, I'll even do it for free.
- Thank you, thank you, thank you! – the girl hugged the priestess, already forgetting that half a minute ago the priestess had brought her to tears. - I'm Usagi. And what is your name?
- Rei. Now, let's go. Can you sit still for five minutes?
- I'll honestly try!
After a couple of hours, both girls went outside. A completely happy Usagi was wiping the remains of a rice cake from her face and wasn't in the least afraid of Rei's threats regarding excess weight. Hino, meanwhile, felt that she had a wonderful time with her new acquaintance, despite the latter's childishly unbearable character. Perhaps she should have told her about the strange visions the priestess had during the divination, but Rei decided it was better to let the girl sleep soundly at night.
A meow sounded, and a black cat jumped onto the road in front of the girls.
- Luna! – Usagi exclaimed. - What are you doing here?!
- There's something. Transform, - the little animal breathed.
The meaning of what was happening only reached Rei after a couple of seconds, when instead of Usagi there stood a strangely dressed warrior, in whom the priestess barely recognized her new acquaintance.
- Luna, but what about... - the girl with odango mumbled, pointing to the stunned Hino.
- She's coming with us, - the cat replied.
Rei opened her mouth to object, but a scepter resembling a pen appeared in her hand, and her body seemed to be engulfed in raging flames.
- Where do we run? – the priestess asked as the heels of her red shoes clicked on the courtyard tiles.
