Posts from What is your opinion about Heroes IV?
Heroes of Might and Magic IV is...
After all, it's hard to imagine the fifth game without its skill trees, without unique schools of magic, and not the third game's elemental ones.
and to conclude...
The fourth game is a wonderful, UNIQUE part.

But you don't need to just treat them as "after the third game...",
Well, that's true... I was wrong about that...
but if you treat them as the fourth game, then everything falls into place (well, almost everything). And the appearance of the castles... of course, they don't look that great, but on the other hand, this isn't a place for elegant balls with lovely ladies and elegant gentlemen. This is, first and foremost, a fortress.
I wasn't talking about the buildings themselves, but about the atmosphere around them. It just seemed a bit empty to me... no trees, no anything else, just bare ground, but I have no complaints about the buildings themselves.

This depends on the terrain you are playing on, i.e., the ground in the castle (itself) changes depending on the environment (desert, grass, wasteland). Of course, adding a lot of trees won't make a big difference, but for example, a natural castle looks very good on green grass if you use Tigers + Unicorns + Dragons.

That makes sense.

I should try that... although I rarely play as Sylvan... I mostly play as Dungeon or Haven...
Zubby is the epitome of coolness.

I didn't like the fourth game. I tried to play it several times (about 4 times), but I couldn't play it for more than two weeks. Something about it is annoying. And the graphics are somehow plasticky. The third and fifth games are better.
Heroes is not a game that should be judged by its graphics! For example, how can you judge the graphics of a game like chess:smile52:? How good are the graphics there? And do you know how long this game has been around? That's the point!;
Games of this genre don't need strong graphics, especially 3D. By the way, that's exactly why I don't like the fifth game – it really gets in the way, at least for me.

The graphics might not be necessary, but the style is definitely important...
Oh! To be honest, I didn't quite understand what you meant by that... could you elaborate a bit more on that part?

And graphics are a kind of luxury that not everyone can afford (not everyone has a powerful graphics card like I do). But I don't agree that it "gets in the way." On the contrary, the stats of a particular creature can be understood thanks to the special effects, voice acting, and so on. I would say that Heroes V actually has more performance issues than the third game. This is one of the reasons why fans of Heroes III don't like the fifth game (especially those who play online).
In principle, I agree with Dr Motor. You can't judge a game based on the quality of its graphics. Heroes IV is a unique game in its own way, and no matter what people say, it remains popular.
+++++!!!

I would say more precisely that Heroes V has more performance issues than the third one. I clarified that 3D graphics are a problem for me.
And as for "feeling" it, the numbers will tell us everything perfectly

Hmm... is it too small? But is "the size of 5" good? Especially when, due to some landscape object, you have to rotate the camera to catch that elusive item that you can't select with the cursor because of the decoration.
The portraits and menus are just scribbles, honestly. It's messy because a yellow menu and gaudy landscape are a poor combination.
And where is the yellow?:eek: Is it the scrolls in which the option names are displayed? Hmm... well, well.
Since we're comparing it to the 5th game, here's my opinion: the animated main menu is just awful. Sometimes it's just annoying when you open the game just to watch a battle recording, and you forget that you also have a player on your computer, and so on, and the menu loads for a long time and sometimes lags.
The cities are not beautiful, and the buildings are poorly compatible with the appearance of the landscape.
Maybe in the 4th game, some building sometimes doesn't match the landscape of the map, but at least in the 4th game, the castle outside is never different from the castle inside.
At a resolution of 1024x1280, everything is small, it's impossible to make out, even on a 17" monitor.
The monsters on the map are like bugs.
Yes, and many people like the RPG-like elements of the 4th game. If I want to play an RPG, I'll play an RPG. But I want a strategy game *looks at HoMM3*.
I'm just curious... if you remove all the ideas from the 4th game from the 5th game, what will be left? - Upgrades, 7 levels of monsters, artifacts, and 4 basic characteristics. That's it! There won't even be magic!
By the way, in the 5th game, the hero's attack, with a fixed number of enemies killed, is very logical. It's a solid 5 out of 5. :)

On the contrary, you can somehow feel the stats of a particular creature due to special effects, voice acting, etc.
