New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
the one who has won the most first places in the stages; if it's a tie, then second places; third places...
newcomers are irrelevant - the absolute leader is competing with everyone (or almost everyone) in all the stages, and, with all due respect to the newcomers, this should play a significant role...
although... don't take it too seriously, but it seems like this question should have been asked before stage 1-1...
after four stages in a row - yes, there is a possibility, but then this is a leader, according to my proposal. But, again, these are just details... It just seems like we should eventually come to a discussion about a new ("special") ranking system. Don't you think?
I disagree with the "axiom" because, let's say, someone took 2nd place three times, 3rd place twice, and 4th place twice. It's almost 100% certain that they will be higher than everyone else in the total sum of all stages. And they won't be able to claim the top spot??? :confused:
5) In total, there will be 7 results across all stages. You can take an average of the 6 or 5 best results, or simply add them up to determine the absolute leader! For example: 1000, 700, 850, 930, 1000, 740, 880. Sum=1000+850+930+1000+880=4660, and so on for each participant. This will keep the hope alive until the last stage and also compensate for a missed or poorly played stage!
I don't understand why you're so worried. In my opinion, the one with the higher total rating should be the leader. If you play poorly, you won't be in contention for first place, IMHO.
How do you account for the fact that, for example, Vasya_Pupkin comes to the portal and participates in a tournament, winning the last 2 stages, while almost always showing the best result in mini-tournaments throughout both of the last stages. I think that according to your system, he simply won't become a Top Player; he will simply not have enough total points, hence the conclusion that the total score is bad for new and promising players.

Here, I will suggest a similar formula for calculating:
R = (R_1 + R_2 + ... + R_i) / i * K_i,
where i is the number of games in which the player participated;
K_i = {0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0} or {0.55, 0.70, 0.85, 1.00} - a bonus-reduction coefficient (the more games, the fewer points are reduced)
