overwatch, league, dota, hots, smite

My expert superficial opinion on the downsides of each and some nuances.
Overwatch
- Demanding on hardware
- Costs 2k rubles
Actually, that's probably enough to stop there. I got a bit carried away and forgot how much it costs, and I don't want to recommend a quite expensive purchase without any guarantees that we will actually play.
League of Legends
- The laning phase is quite long, so getting stomped during it is very unpleasant.
- A billion champions, most of whom are quite lackluster, but there's surely someone who will suit everyone's taste in terms of both visual design and Gameplay.
- Balance changes very frequently, so it's hard to keep up with all the updates without a lot of effort. On the other hand, I stopped reading them three years ago and it hasn't affected my experience that much.
- You need to last-hit creeps.
- You need to reach account level 30 to unlock all runes and summoners, but they seem to have made this process shorter.
- Champions are bought with in-game currency.
Dota 2
- Seemed the most complex of all to me, both in terms of itemization and mechanics. I could easily be wrong about this, but that's how it stuck with me.
- All heroes are available immediately.
Heroes of the Storm
- The most casual of them all, just launch and play. It's very easy to figure out what's what. You don't need to last-hit anything; the game tells you what to do and so on. There is no laning phase as such; the whole game is about team fights, so losing isn't as unpleasant as in other games.
- Matches are faster than in other games (except for Arena in Smite) and more dynamic, but even more snowball-y.
- Blizzard is just stupidly greedy. 20/30 gold per match when most heroes cost 10000 — the worst thing I've seen in these games.
Smite
- A game with a shooter element; for some, it will be a plus, for others, a minus.
- The most successful theme, in my opinion. Mythology is nothing new, but it looks more interesting than what's in other MOBAs. You don't just play, you also learn something new!
- The local rift is quite tedious, but other modes are pretty good.
- Gods are bought with in-game currency, but the rates seem better than in League and HotS.

My personal preference is: LoL > HotS/Smite > Dota, but probably HotS would be the best fit right now since it's the most beginner-friendly, and if that works out, then you can try other MOBAs.

None of this appeals to me. Well, maybe I'd try LoL, but probably not. It would be nice to have something cooperative to play. L4D, Magica, something like that.

Let's play HotS; I just need you guys so we can get Grandmaster rank in Team League. My friend who plays Dota claims that games are found faster in HotS. Rumors about the game being dead started because Blizzard canceled competitions for esports pros – but who cares about that except for those esports pros?

Well, basically, no one wants to join except for a potential Locken and a somewhat questionable Heroist. Sigh.

I might join and I even promise not to be too picky about the game choice. Although I don't really want to last-hit creeps, I'm willing to do it for you. But it needs to be when our free time aligns.

I finally completed the requirements for solo queue (Anamuzed) and tried ranked, it took about 7-8 minutes to find a game. Is it faster in team league?

It took about 7-8 minutes to find a match.

Wow. What rank? Clearly higher than mine.

Honestly, I don't know. I play quick matches to have the opportunity to virtually hold a beer in one hand and virtual squid in the other while crushing noobs. Solo queue in quick matches takes about 20 seconds to find a match, team queue will take longer, but I don't think it will take more than a minute (although who knows).

So high that I don't even have it, because Blizzard hasn't come up with a rank that would reflect my skill (I haven't even played the placement matches, lol)..
