I might run a D&D campaign sometime, but I've been too exhausted lately.

No, ordinary people don't usually have the time to run D&D (at least not for free). Of course, I'm just kidding.
Although, in reality, I've been thinking for a long time that maybe it really shouldn't be free? After all, the work of a GM in games isn't that different from the work of game developers – the creators of those computer games that we play.

When a character dies, you send them an invoice, and if the player sends the required amount, you resurrect them with full HP.

At least it’s fair, and everyone is equal.

Chess is essentially the same as any other game. Someone who knows certain (non-)basic things can easily defeat their opponent, even if the latter is smarter or has more strategic thinking. The difference with something like Civilization or Heroes of Might and Magic in this regard is minimal.
