how do you play fighting games using the keyboard?

There is no equality.

I mean, it shouldn't be the case where one player is a world champion and the other is playing the game for the first time, or one player has spent a hundred dollars on great gear while the other is stuck with the starting equipment.

Just like on the gamepad, but using the keyboard.

I wish I didn't have a gamepad right now. But in general, it's easy.

Even better, actually, because it allows you to use more fingers to control a larger number of keys.

Okay, I've played fighting games a couple of times in my life, so I guess my perception was off.
(And I'm not a big fan in general, but if the guys want to organize a tournament, why not, I'll participate.)

the guys won't want to spend money on them.

Spend them on Civilization V. It's honest, balanced, strategic, and fast-paced.

Spend your money on alcohol, and let's organize a "liter-ball" tournament. It offers a perfect balance, a low barrier to entry, and a fair duel in a "shot for shot" format. Almost no one lasts longer than an hour, and it doesn't require high PC specifications.

However, it has high requirements for health parameters.

What, did I give too few stats?)))

I nerfed my character because I was afraid I would break the game.

But we have Civilization V...

Better in Civilization 6.

I already shared my experience playing Soul Calibur VI on the keyboard in one of the chats.
I perform the Soul Charge by repeatedly tapping a comb on the keyboard. A regular hair comb. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
However, if there were properly customizable keys, there wouldn't be so much hassle.

It's much more convenient to play SC on a gamepad. As I already wrote to Ment in the same chat, I get a similar result by pressing just one button. And various "dogma-souls" games are also more convenient to play on it. But various tactics, strategies, and shooters are more convenient with a keyboard and mouse.

We need some kind of tournament game, in general.

-1v1 matches
-matches no longer than an hour
-not demanding on PC
-~~~equal player experience
-equal starting conditions at the beginning of the duel
