Radical: the attack and defense of the unit casting Dimension Door drops to 1 until the end of the day (mages are in profit!).

Fire spell, level 4 – allows you to “burn” a fragment of darkness (terra incognita) within a radius depending on the hero’s mana points (similar to vision), covering a number of cells equal to basic/advanced/expert scouting range. This is not Dimension Door, but it is also an element of map control.
Dimension Door – as far as I can see, the only normal solution is to move it to water, since this fits into the concept (DD – Rampart guild – water; the tower remains with its native Fly and Mirror). Heroes who like to take water will practically not be cut off, although without slow in its current form, it would be much more difficult. And teleportation on the battlefield is somehow associated with the water element anyway. I suggest this not because I am a fan or anti-fan of Water Tower.
At least for Dimension Door, it might have been worth reducing the area by cutting off the corners – switching from a square to a circle; diagonal movement is already greater, and diagonals are also 41% "more expensive" in Might and Magic.
I agree with limiting the use of Town Portal to a specific number of times.
Baratorch made a great suggestion /topic/at/1113827/!
I'd move Slow to spell level 3-4 and/or also increase its cost, if that's possible.
I would bring back cartographers, but only so they don't open the whole map, but rather a radius like a watchtower at some point on the map chosen by the player or randomly (some treasure zone).
Generally, when I stumbled upon a Heroes stream on the internet a couple of years ago, I was pleasantly surprised that the game is still alive and tournaments are being held for it. Then I watched a HotA stream; a lot was unclear to me, there were massive changes compared to the classic, although it seemed like the same thing + expansions.
Ultimately, it's easier for new players to get started with SoD, especially those aged 30+, who once played specifically on this version, and then smoothly transition into HotA and others.
I haven't played WT, but I like the idea of moving Fireball to fire and DD to water; that would balance the elements.
But it wouldn't be the SoD everyone is used to anymore :smile27:
And secondly, do you believe that a change which significantly affects battles with neutrals will not affect the confrontation with an opponent?

This would guarantee receiving DD/TP after building the MG + maximum 1 rebuild of the corresponding level.
Saneok, it seems in Heroes, to get something valuable, you need to put in certain work to gain profit—the more valuable it becomes, culminating in a cohesive strategy, a line of play. Getting control from the sky... Is that cool?

It would also be cool to buff mysticism (10/20/30% mana restoration per turn) and strengthen Eagle Eye (at expert level, learn all spells in the opponent's book).

Although Tanta has a desire to at least ban the start, the only hero without objects capable of taking Dragon Utopia on week 2 without losses.
The cost of the raise dead spell could be increased.
Also, you could make the range of Direct Damage depend on the number of Skill Points (with a maximum limit equal to the standard range). But again, the downside is that it will heavily favor whoever gets the attack on the skill points. In general, no matter what limitations you introduce, someone will get an advantage.

The majority of suggestions in this thread resemble DaU's thoughts.
the same applies to the shortened control; logisticians are at an advantage.
As for a reasonable control restriction, I only see a fix for the number of Town Portal.
One could also make the Dimension Door radius depend on the amount of SP (with a maximum limit of the standard radius)...
.
And even that wouldn't provide anything other than complicating the calculations of where to jump and extending the game time on HLs.
And everything else is so absurd that it's not even worth commenting on.
