IMPORTANT! Among the maps released in a specific year, those that receive the most votes will be selected. They will receive awards. To receive an award, a map must receive more than 1 vote – 1 vote can easily be given by the author themselves. IMPORTANT! You can vote for 3 participating maps. Voting will end on July 16th.
While there’s still time, I want to warn all honest visitors of the forum. **Attention!** All maps uploaded here by **atlant108** are old and very outdated; they have nothing to do with the contest for 2017-2019. I used to be against re-uploaded maps being treated the same as all other maps. Now, we can state that the sabotage was successful. As for **atlant108**, you get neither milk nor meat from a he-goat – just spirit, but what a spirit, a real feast for the soul.

Thank you very much. Astral Lane also warned me. I wrote to Atlant in a private message, asking him to provide evidence that they weren't old, but he wrote back that he had checked everything and they weren't from before 2017. I even defended him in front of Astral. Well, if this isn't the first time he's been called out, then I won't deal with him anymore. I respect authority on the forum, even though I've been here for a long time, but if people who have dealt with Atlant warn me, and I ignore it, that's too much. atlant208, if you're reading this, thank you for the dirty trick, you should have made your own maps instead of unfairly promoting others. IMPORTANT! Dear users! You can vote for the re-uploaded maps made by Atlant, but I will remove them from the list of candidates for prizes, and they will not be awarded. P.S. 13ga, can you provide any evidence that the maps are very old? Otherwise, we will have slandered an innocent person, which would be very unfortunate.
Added 25 minutes later For everyone's convenience, I'm listing the maps that are being removed from the competition: -Fight for Justice -Doomsday -Counterattack -First Assignment -Snow Fortress -Chill of Death
atlant208, if you're reading this, thank you for the "pig" you slipped in. It would have been better if you had created your own maps instead of unfairly promoting others.
Well, I'll still defend him a bit; I don't like when people jump to conclusions like that. There's nothing wrong with popularizing other people's maps; in fact, the concept of the EWA mod, which Atlant promotes, is based on that – taking many mods, combining them, and bringing them to the masses. The other question is that old maps are old, and even if they weren't, maps without the authors presented on the forum don't make sense in a contest, as there would be no one to reward.
P.S. 13ga, can you provide any evidence that the maps are very old? Otherwise, we will have slandered an innocent person, which would be very unfortunate.
Contest map from 2008, "First Assignment" for the Murlocs. (use a search engine, all re-uploaded maps are very well-known and easy to verify). https://heroes.ag.ru/heroes5/news/2008/05
There is no justification for lies. I, too, initially defended Atlanta in our correspondence. I meant that it's bad not to upload maps of those who can't do it themselves, but to promote them by participating in contests in an unfair way. Otherwise, we are unfair to those who create maps within the deadlines. And even more so, to deceive the contest organizer, which is why he spent time in a hurry redrawing the table, redistributing it by year of release, and even spent a day figuring out the release dates of the maps through private messages with Atlanta – he's a real jerk. No matter how noble his cause, there is no justification for lies. Regarding awarding non-forum authors: you can simply congratulate the author verbally, which is always nice. For example, I can always contact Franzy and Vadim.
Didn't you want to exclude these maps from the list? Could you then provide a separate list of maps that we won't be voting on? But in any case, thank you for creating the polls.
While there's still time, I want to warn all honest visitors to the forum. Attention! All the maps uploaded here by atlant108 are old and very old; they have nothing to do with the 2017-2019 competition. I once opposed the idea of re-uploaded maps being treated equally with all other maps. Now, we can state that the sabotage was successful. At least with atlant108, you get nothing but hot air – but what air! A true feast for the spirit.
Competition map from 2008, "First Assignment" for the Murlycats. (Use a search engine; all re-uploaded maps are well-known and easy to verify.) https://heroes.ag.ru/heroes5/news/2008/05
Let me clarify this issue:
The scenarios Doomsday, First Assignment, and Snow Fortress are indeed old and should be removed from the poll. I have removed them from the general list.
The scenario Battle for Justice (version 1.1) was revised and supplemented by the author on 2.10.2017. As proof, I am attaching a file with the map itself, where you can see the date, so the scenario should remain in the voting.
The scenario Counterstrike was revised and significantly supplemented by the author on 3.01.2018 – I am sending the file as proof, so the scenario should remain in the voting.
The scenario "Chill of Death" was revised by the author on 22.10.2017 – I am sending the file, so the scenario should remain in the voting
Regarding rewarding non-forum authors: you can simply verbally congratulate the author, which is always nice. For example, I can always contact Franzy and Vadim.
Of course, you can verbally congratulate them, but considering how much effort and time mapmakers put into their maps, why not reward them with a donation? Besides, such support will motivate authors to release sequels and fix bugs. Moreover, support will not be superfluous for all authors:
- those who frequently visit the forum - those who visit here rarely - those who don't visit the forum at all. However, after receiving support, they may become frequent guests here.
Okay, atlant108.
1. Let's assume you didn't know the exact release dates of the maps when you suggested your version of the list. But I still don't understand why you assured me in a private message that the release dates of all the maps were verified: atlant108
I agree with that; I carefully reviewed the entire list again, checked the release dates of the maps, and then removed all maps that were released before 2017.
Also, there are broken links in the list; I would appreciate it if you could fix them. These are the maps "Ghostly Advantage" by Ogo-i and "Return Home!" by AlekseyS.
I removed the map "Ghostly Advantage" by Ogo-i because I found out that it was released before 2017.
2. Okay, these maps will be returned to the contest, and if they are chosen, they will be the winners.
3. I don't know about everyone else, but for me, the best reward for such a "hobby" is gratitude and positive feedback about my work. And the 25-100 (I'm taking a very low estimate) rubles that a few users will donate out of a burst of enthusiasm for the map is a nice little bonus, but it doesn't really improve my mood, except maybe to buy some cheap trinket. The motivation is too weak for map creators, in my opinion – the chances of winning the contest, the chances that someone will donate voluntarily, and the chance that the donation will be more than a symbolic ruble. There are so few active users who visit the contests that I don't know if any of them will thank the authors financially.
It would be different if a philanthropist with a substantial income were found and became a patron of the forum; then it would be possible to collect a fund from donations and distribute it among the map creators.
Let's say you didn't know the exact release dates of the maps when you suggested your version of the list. But I still don't understand why you assured me in a private message that the release dates for all the maps were confirmed:
The initial list I posted had 10-12 more maps than it does now – but over time, I removed some of the maps that contained bugs, critical errors or simply wouldn't open. Then I removed a couple of maps that would open, but couldn't be completed. After that, I started checking the release dates, but apparently missed a few maps that I mentioned above. So, I had to check again. I didn't want to mislead anyone – if someone was offended and angry with me because of this, then I ask them not to hold a grudge.
I don't know about everyone else, but my best reward for such a "hobby" is gratitude and positive feedback on my work. And 25-100 (taking a very low estimate) rubles, which several users will donate out of an outburst of delight from the map, is a pleasant little thing, but it doesn't really improve my mood much, except maybe allowing me to buy some trinket. The motivation is weak for mapmakers.
I understand you. For you, the main thing is the pleasure of the mapmaking process itself. Well, reviews and thanks for completing the maps are your best motivation.
the chances that someone will voluntarily donate, and even that the donation will be more than just a symbolic ruble
We all know about a YouTube channel like: Heroes for fan. This channel is run by Remix. I often watch his streams. He plays through scenarios (campaigns) created by other authors - while he himself does not create maps. On average, he has 1 new playthrough every day. So, I have often observed how completely unfamiliar people sent him donations of 300, 500, 1000, and even 2000 rubles – they simply enjoyed watching him play. Should we consider them weirdos after this? I don’t think so; they are simply expressing their gratitude in this way. He also doesn't mind. In the end, everyone is happy.
There are only a few active users who visit the contests, I don't know if any of them will thank the authors financially.
There are not many people on the forum who write messages and create topics, but there are quite a lot of those who view and download maps. Take a look yourself – let's go to the page with maps: /forum/section/159/
Scenario[L]: "Runes in Good Hands" – 56 replies, 1340 views. Although this scenario was posted recently, it has already been viewed by 1340 people! That's pretty good! Let's move on: Scenario[M]: "Heart of Night" – 27294 views! Scenario[XL]: "The Fall of Shantiri" – 52206 views and only 77 replies! Scenario[L]: "Journey" – 154290 views!
In general, there are many worthy maps, scenarios, and campaigns uploaded to the forum. Often, when discussing one map or another, the question is asked whether the author will continue the scenario or campaign. The authors would be happy to return to creating maps again, but many of them don't have time for that now - they lack time, money, and have a lot of work, etc. Therefore, material encouragement would be an additional incentive for them
If we draw an analogy with Remix, then mapmakers should rather set up their own Patreon pages, and let people donate there. Using a contest system is a workaround that:
a) excludes some funds (at least because the logic of the contest implies rewarding only the finalists)
b) creates additional unnecessary responsibility and hassle for the organizers (they need to organize the collection of these funds and delivery, and enthusiasts don't like to receive money, at least some of them...)
In short, independent organization of donations by successful mapmakers seems like a more sensible approach.
Okay, your arguments have convinced me. In the next mapmaking contests, if any are held, it will be possible to donate.
IMPORTANT! Dear mapmakers, if you wish, you can provide an "address" where anyone can send donations.
After all, organizing a fund has a slight advantage over a system of free donations, as the reward is then guaranteed and known in advance.

I agree with you, Ment, that simply providing a "number" for a Yandex wallet in the signature and saying "thank the author here and here" is a very good system.
