Well, I definitely am not pushing you anywhere. We're just talking about a survey that you happened to participate in. According to the rules, one of the questions must be about allegiance to a side, and any reasonable journalist would definitely ask "Are you a town member?", which we see in the obliterated version of the 3rd question. The answer, apparently, is "NO". That's why Ment is asking why you introduced yourself as an "alien," meaning not a town member.

And during the hanging, it seems like there's a hint about the role of the hanged person, not the status.

What kind of reasoning do you expect from me? Based on the survey, you are James (if you are a town member, of course) or Alice/Juliana, but the latter is unlikely, since they don't seem to have any kills yet.
