Well, let's say the worst-case scenario is that Alex is the Guardian, and we execute him. We need to figure out how to play at night. Neither the Mafia nor the Maniacs will have protection against being killed this night. We have an Elf who shoots first. We also have a Forest Spirit who shoots even earlier, and he might have already been targeted tonight. We have a block that can prevent one of the kills and a heal (if Alex isn't the Healer). The Naiad might be able to save herself with a bit of luck.
First, we need to figure out who the Elf should target. He definitely won't be sitting around doing nothing.
