- Of everything. We only have one way to check this. We will throw you from a great height. If you fly – then you are innocent.
- Wtf?! ...

The Little Engine That Couldn't

The morning council of warlords, which took place in the royal palace, was interrupted by alarming news. The invaders attacked again. The first blow of the enemy fell on one of the settlements near the fortress wall. Panic reigned in the palace, and soon in the city itself. The king ran around in confusion back and forth through his residence, shouting at everyone he met and ordering them to do something. Someone was unlucky enough to get under his hot hand.
Meanwhile, the settlement itself was already engulfed in flames. The inhabitants were completely unprepared for the arrival of the enemy. The attackers did not encounter any resistance on their way; all the royal warriors were in the city. The only hope of the residents was KindShaman. He undertook a responsible mission – to reach the city and summon the royal troops for help. They probably don’t know about the attack yet. KindShaman slowly and purposefully walked towards the city. Around him, burning houses collapsed, enemy shells exploded, and people fell dead. From everywhere came various exclamations and cries for help. "You can do it, Shaman!" ... "Go to the city and call everyone for help!" ... "We believe in you, Shaman!" ... "Remember the little engine that could!" ... "Run, Shaman, run!!!" And KindShaman walked. He walked and walked. And even when one of the cyborgs ran past him and pierced him through with its blade, KindShaman continued walking until he realized that he was already dead. Nebo rushed to the aid of his friend, but another cyborg stood in his way, larger than the shaman's killer. Nebo quickly assessed all options and decided to flee before he too was cut down.
A multitude of cats immediately flew to the body of the Shaman. Something in him or on him strongly attracted their attention. They quickly gnawed him to the bones, destroying everything that might later help in any way to track down the killer.
The royal troops arrived at the scene too late. The entire settlement was destroyed, and the invaders safely disappeared. Later, the warlords justified their late arrival by saying that they had encountered a flock of very slow creatures blocking their path. Their “detachment” apparently did not notice the loss of a soldier and continues to increase in number.
