And is it worth spending a lot of time on hero-level battles, or is it better to rush through on a recruit without losing the fun of progressing?

Well, in general, the strategy hasn't changed much. The main thing is not to ignore the side quests, avoid going through the same area 5 times (there are ways to unlock auxiliary one-way portals to significantly shorten the path), use the Tower Castle as support, but keep an eye on resource consumption. Regarding large armies, that's entirely up to you. Almost all important artifacts are heavily guarded. This is more suitable for hardcore players. The ending has also changed; there's an additional portal leading to the edge of the map. My advice is to pay attention to getting at least one dragon artifact. It will be useful ;) And now, capturing Tower Castle buildings is no longer necessary to complete the game. If you do capture them, you'll get good bonuses. The location of the Tear of Ascha has changed but corresponds to the hints. And as I said, you must capture the Dwarf Castle; otherwise, you won't collect the set of dwarf artifacts to get the red key.
