In short, I looked through the remaining clues as best as I could (I always try to decipher a clue). My brain is already fried from the sheer number of wiki pages.
I couldn't find anything useful. The closest option was with Alex's clue:

Romanov, Ivan Nikitich - Philaret - Russian Orthodox Church - Byzantium

But there's no clear connection to the war from there, and the link seems too simple overall; I'm not sure. I probably won't revisit the clues today or tomorrow.
I wanted to write about the absence of the third check in the newspaper, but it's already been discussed. When a clue from the killer appears, I'll first guess it's from Fragment, as it's the most likely option for now.
