SECOND OFFLINE HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC I TOURNAMENT "NEIGHBORS"

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the second offline tournament for Heroes of Might and Magic I "NEIGHBORS", you must register on our website www.heroesworld.ru, as well as submit an application in this thread.

P.S. This tournament is held as part of the general same-named Cunningham tournament, therefore all information, as well as its progress and results, will be displayed in that section.
Турнир имени Jov Van Caneghem-а на HeroesWorld

Note: final tournament results will also be available in the offline tournaments section for Heroes of Might and Magic I.

2. The tournament is played on the Russian version of Heroes of Might and Magic I from Buka. The save will be generated on Russian version 1.1.

3. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy.
The submitted save must contain the tournament number (2), the participant's number in the application table, the abbreviation (C - NEIGHBORS) and the player's Nick.

Example:

2_1_C_VDV_forever.GM1
2_2_C_AlexeyPank.GM1

4. The result will be evaluated, first and foremost, by the minimum time.
If several players have an equal walkthrough time, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING EQUIPPED ARTIFACTS; if a favorite is still not determined, then by the amount of mercury.

5. Along with the submitted save, it is mandatory to provide a description of the final step (battle with a hero, battle for a castle, capturing an artifact, victory over the last monster) after which victory occurs, or the walkthrough of the scenario.

6. The submitted save must have only one conquering hero who performs the final action (others should simply be dismissed).

7. It is forbidden: to buy back your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-buyback" trick);
it is also forbidden to buy heroes who died in battle (not to be confused with those who fled)!

8. It is forbidden: to move a bought-back hero who fled/paid off in battle on the day they fled/paid off. Buying such a hero is allowed, but they can only be moved the following day;

9.It is forbidden: To dig up the Grail without fully uncovering the puzzle map.

10. It is forbidden: to use cheating programs, codes, as well as additional software that can change the game structure.

11. Send the save to the email address VDV_forever@BK.RU

12. In case of suspicion of cheating or other malicious intent during the map walkthrough, a save must be made every game day.
In such a case (detection of cheating), the player will be required to send additional saves and provide a description of the walkthrough to the tournament organizer to determine whether the play was unfair or honest.
The result of a player who played dishonestly will be voided, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

13. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
(Players who violate this rule automatically exclude themselves from playing the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).

14. The tournament starts on February 1 and lasts until February 28 (inclusive!). Results will be announced on March 3, 2007.

15. After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nick.
save counted - indicated by an italicized bold Nick.

This list may be expanded with new participants!
We invite everyone to take part in the tournament!

Saves will only be considered for players who are in this table, so submit your applications IN ADVANCE!!!

Everything about the starting save

Starting save
from 01.02.07 download
save:
map from which the save was generated:

1. Download the save.

2. The downloaded Save must be placed on your computer in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes of Might and Magic I.

3. Load it and start playing at any time convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

4. After reaching the final action (after which victory occurs), save again.

5. With the final save, describe this last step in detail (most likely a battle); then the results will be processed faster and there will be fewer suspicions of cheating!!!

6. A full description of the tournament map is encouraged (optional). If such descriptions are provided, a contest for the best description will be held; 10 of them (the very best) will take their place of honor in the "Hall of Fame" section!

7. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

8. Wait for the results.

P.S. I wish all tournament participants a great time playing and, most importantly, VICTORY!

P.S.S. If there are any additions or comments, please do not hesitate to speak up to minimize disagreements and shortcomings in the same-named process of the tournament.

Similarly, if I was sailing and the landing – they coincide :) Meaning, everyone was doomed the day after I ran away from the boat.
You didn't write it correctly the first time, saying everyone was doomed :) You wrote that you spent one more day destroying the messengers.
---------------
1 day - landing
1 day - capturing the main castle and immediately capturing all the others (in the final version, I was 2 squares short of capturing the Barbarian castle)
1 day - destroying the messengers
----------------
And sailing and landing coincide for me – I accidentally added a day to myself :) I made a mistake :)

And the sailing and landing match up for me - I accidentally added a day to myself :) made a mistake :)
Basically, from the moment of boarding the boat until victory, it took:
1 day - boarding the boat (inactivity)
1 day - at full sail, oars, outboard motors, hovercrafts and jet engines to Warlock + landing
1 day - capturing Warlock, Sorcerer and pushing back 2 warlock and 1 sorcerer heroes
1 day - capturing Barb and pushing back 1 warlock, 2 sorcerers, 3 barbs. VICTORY! :)
In total, 1 Castle each was captured (the computer had no towns) and 3 heroes each.
I used 11 heroes during the game (including the starting one).

Even shorter: how many do you have? 13 days? :)

A
Day 1 - I rush to the spellcasting building + a chest for experience + planting (This day is the planting day)
It seems to me that based on this description, you landed near the Warlock's territory, in the swamp area, or wherever the landing zone was?
The next day after landing, I finished the game. That is, I cleared all the settlements and messengers. So, were you wasting an extra day on the messengers?

Added after 3 minutes
Zingel;70882

In total, 1 castle (no villages for the computer) and 3 heroes were captured.
Also, in short, how many days did you take? 13 days? :)
Why do you think that?

I got into the boat in the area near the boots.

I don't know. What should be considered the day after landing?
When the hero lands, his turn ends. So, are you saying that in the next turn, when the hero was revived after landing, you did "Game Over"? :) Then that's cool!
With my main hero, after the sea "revival," I made 2 moves.
IronAxe;70883

Why do you think so?
Well, not 11, right?! :)

Did I understand you correctly that the AI didn't manage to capture a single town?
Because my Warlock and Sorceress each captured one, and on day 15, the Barbarian captured 2 towns. In the end, it took 16 days.

Correct. They didn't manage. :)
In my previous attempts, by day 14, everyone already had a town.
So, I even had to wait until the end of the week to kill them all - I didn't have enough strength. Total - 15 days.

Therefore, I even had to deliberately wait until the end of the week to eliminate everyone – I didn't have enough strength. Total – 15 days.
It never occurred to me that the computer might not be able to capture at least one town, because even the Warlock had built two castles.
On day 15, the Sorcerer was clearly preparing to run and capture a second town (another hero was somewhere far away), and the Barbarian was standing a few squares away from his second town.
Even if I had half as good a situation as you, it would still take me 15 days, although not faster.
But alas...

In short, from the moment of boarding the boat to victory, it took:
1 day - boarding the boat (inactivity)
1 day - full speed ahead with sails, oars, rubber motors, air cushions, and jet engines towards the Warlock + landing
1 day - capturing the Warlock, Sorceress, and detaching 2 Warlock and 1 Sorceress heroes
1 day - capturing the Barbarian and detaching 1 Warlock, 2 Sorceress, and 3 Barbarian heroes. VICTORY! :)
I had a slightly different experience...
1 day - boarding the boat (inactivity)
2nd day - we sail...
3rd day - we arrive and disembark...
4th day - we take the Warlock, and then the monsters start appearing... I took all four castles
5th day - we reach the distant heroes, and that's it....

You sailed there in one day, so you must have started where the Phoenixes were... because if you don't kill them, you won't be able to sail there in one turn... you're short by one step!
I didn't kill the Phoenixes because they were killing two Djinns... and the boots weren't needed, at least not for me.

He climbed into the boat near the boots.
Well, you couldn't get the boat close enough to the warlock's castle back then. And he landed, not on the swamp, but above the warlock's fortress. And I landed right near the fortress gates. The turn ended. The next turn began, and I killed everyone.
Zingel;70889

I don't know. What should be considered the day after the landing?
The next turn :)
Zingel;70889

When the hero landed, his turn ended. So, are you saying that in one next turn, when the hero recovered after landing, you did "Game Over"? :) Then that's cool!
Yes! :) And I've already explained why I was so lucky. First, the warlock's fortress already had a magic portal. I had accumulated minerals to build a fourth-level magic building, considering that the computer built a Tower up to level 3 (and that's what I had). And I used this in the Barbarian's fortress. Plus, a Sorceress with three knowledge skills and good speed escaped to my territory earlier, as she is bought with only fairies. Therefore, after capturing the warlock, I bought this Sorceress there.
Zingel;70889

I made 2 moves with my main hero after the sea "resurrection".
It wasn't 11, was it?! :)
I made 1 move after the resurrection. The Walkthrough is limited by the speed of wood accumulation in this game :) I made the landing near my sawmill, but I didn't take the boots :(

I didn't even think that the computer might not have time to capture at least one village, because even the warlock had built 2 castles.
On day 15, the Sorceress was clearly going to run and capture the 2nd village (another hero was somewhere far away), and the Barbarian was a few squares away from his 2nd village.
I don't know for sure, but it seems I've discovered some kind of randomness pattern when playing the first Heroes game. One of them has already been mentioned here. Like, if you don't collect minerals well, the computer will also build the magic Tower slowly. And then I noticed that if you don't have additional villages, the computer won't rush to capture them either. If you don't build castles in the villages or capture castles, the computer will also try to have approximately the same number of castles as you, and if it doesn't have enough to match you, it will build them! That is, the AI of the computer here adapts to the human player!!! In my opinion, this is the coolest AI of all the Heroes game series!! And you can still take advantage of this by knowing at least approximately the algorithm of the computer's actions - I share my observations with you from the bottom of my heart, my companions :)

On day 15, the Sorceress was clearly planning to run and capture a 2nd village (another hero was somewhere in the middle of nowhere), and the Barbarian was standing a few cells away from his 2nd.
My enemy heroes scattered all over the place...
the Warlock: one in the center, one at the very bottom in the snows, a third in the "outlying" west...
the elves: one in the center, another in the faaaaar east...
the Barbarians: one near the main castle, another (idiot) at the very top in the lava...
the Barbarian and Sorceress only have second-level magic....

I don't know for sure, but it seems I've discovered a certain pattern in the randomness of the first Heroes game. One of them was already mentioned here. For example, if you collect minerals poorly, the computer will also build the Tower of Magic slowly. Furthermore, I noticed that if you don't have additional villages, the computer won't rush to capture them either. If you don't build castles in the villages or capture castles, the computer will try to have approximately the same number of castles as you, and if it doesn't have enough, it will build them! That is, the AI of the computer adapts to the human player!!! In my opinion, this is the coolest AI of all the games in the 4th series!! And you can still take advantage of this by knowing at least approximately the algorithm of the computer's actions - I share my observations with you from the bottom of my heart, my companions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On my island, I captured only one village, where I built a castle and a shipyard. Consequently, I had no more villages than the others.
My enemy heroes have scattered in all directions...
for the Warlock: one in the center, one in the very south in the snow, the third on the "outer" west...
for the Elves: one in the center, the other in the far east...
for the Barbarians: one near the main castle, the other (damn) at the very top in the lava...
the Barbarian and Sorceress only have magic of the second level....

I may not be entirely sure, but it seems I've identified a certain pattern in the randomness of the AI in the first Heroes game. One of them was already mentioned here. For example, if you're not collecting minerals efficiently, the AI will also build magic towers slowly. Furthermore, I've noticed that if you don't have additional towns, the AI won't rush to capture them. If you don't build castles in your towns or capture enemy castles, the AI will try to have roughly the same number of castles as you, and if it needs more, it will build them! So, the AI adapts to the human player! In my opinion, this is the best AI in all the games in the series! And you can definitely take advantage of this by knowing, at least approximately, the AI's behavior – I'm sharing my observations with you from the bottom of my heart, my companions :)
Interesting observation... I'll need to check it out....
and if it's true, then you can use it to your advantage...

You sailed there in one day, which means you landed where the phoenixes were... because if you don't kill them, you can't make it in one turn.. you're one step short!
I didn't bother killing the phoenixes since they were taking down two genies... and the boots turned out to be unnecessary... at least for me..
I didn't kill the phoenixes - but I sailed there in one day :) Because while that Fortress was being built, I was setting up chains to the sawmill; there was a sorcerer who summoned a boat, the main hero got in, and troops were passed to the boat via chains from the territory. I repeat - I landed practically at the gates of the warlock's Fortress :) Everyone has already said how fast they finished :) Well yes - I did it in 13. I'm less interested in the result of the clan duel - I play for my own personal rating, so I'm afraid that even though there is no Prophet, some other person might show up and smack me over the helmet again :)

Well, you couldn't get the boat close enough to the Warlock's gates back then. But you did land, albeit not on the swamp, but above the Warlock's Fortress.
That's exactly where I landed. If I had landed at the gates, I would have captured a couple more artifacts from the Barbarian to increase the Sorceress's skills. But seeing that I couldn't reach the Barbarian Castle in one turn, I had to take out the Cyclops near the portal. And I used a very nice chest for experience! :)
IronAxe;70904

And I landed right near the gates of his Fortress. The turn ended. The next turn began, and I killed everyone.
That's fantastic!!! 8-o
IronAxe;70904

Yes! :) And I've already explained why I was so lucky. First, the Warlock's Fortress already had a magic portal. I had accumulated minerals to build a fourth-level magic building, considering that the computer built a Tower up to level 3 (and that's what I had). And I used this in the Barbarian Fortress.
And I had to scrape together building materials, hire Tajiks, and manually build a Tower at the Warlock's. :)
IronAxe;70904

Plus, a Sorceress with three knowledge points and good speed, as she is bought with only Fairies, escaped to my territory beforehand. So, after capturing the Warlock, I bought this Sorceress there.
And my Sorceress also spent some time in her native village, attended a party, went mushroom picking and chest hunting, then pretended to be the coolest pirate and made her way to the enemy on her own!
IronAxe;70904

The Walkthrough is limited by the speed of wood accumulation in this game :) I made the landing near my sawmill, but I didn't take the boots :(
And I took the boots, and the sawmill, and Kazan, and I took the wood from the Dwarves near the gem mine (I also took it). :)
So, I had enough wood for a couple more ships and a small raft.
And the Walkthrough was limited by the availability of beer and my wife. :) As soon as the beer ran out or my wife started nagging, the Walkthrough was quickly backed up and postponed. :)
