Inevitably Trouble
Twilight deepened over the emperor's palace. A restless night had fallen. The caravans remained in the city, not risking the journey. The townsfolk hid away in their homes. Only the palace soldiers valiantly kept their watch. But there were too few of them.
Bored mercenaries wandered the city in a large crowd until they found
Nephela's house. Making themselves comfortable on the porch, they began drinking beer and shouting obscene songs, ignoring the anger of the mistress of the house.
Nephela would have happily gone to
Nayra Drake, who was rumored to be hosting a grand feast today, but she didn't dare pass by the noisy company.
Gur was walking home briskly. He regretted staying late for his business, and the strange people who kept glancing at him did not instill confidence. Eventually,
Gur's nerves gave way, and he ran as fast as he could. Almost at his house, he tripped and sprawled across the pavement. A passing elf girl in a palace soldier's uniform helped him up and politely asked if he needed assistance. After treating his bump, she let
Gur go and disappeared.
Zybr was strolling through the city accompanied by a tall, strong, weathered woman with a sword. She escorted him home without incident and left.
Zybr began preparing for sleep, but a terrible crash disrupted his plans. One of the room's walls shook, cracks appeared, and then gaps, through which it was clearly visible that something large and malicious was forcing its way into the house. Headlong,
Zybr rushed to the door, but it was gone, as was the wall, and in its place stood a wooden house, which, noticing the owner of the ruined room, lunged at him.
Zybr tried to run back, but another house that had broken through the wall was already behind him. The malicious creatures gave the poor soul not a single chance, literally smearing him across the floor. The first rays of the sun illuminated the ruins of what was once a home.
There were several sheets on the notice board near the palace.
Briefly. We belong to the Higher Ancient Race. We surpass the wretched and insignificant humans in everything. Those filthy and useless pigs, unworthy of even cleaning Our toilets, although We do not relieve Ourselves physically, for We are the Higher Race! We shall plunder your caravans, villages, and cities, destroy you all, and possess your lands, and the emperor of nomadlandia will be a court squirrel, cracking nuts for Our Great and Wise King.
PS. We are not chickens!
Canonical Elf.
And although we face difficulties today and will face them tomorrow, I still have a dream. This dream is deeply rooted in a villainous dream.
I dream that one day this darkness will straighten itself and live in accordance with the true meaning of its principle: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all dark forces are created equal."
I dream that one day on the red hills of Nomadlandia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to lie together in a mass grave.
I dream that a day will come when even the county of Ipississim, languishing from the heat of freedom and justice, will turn into an oasis of injustice and oppression.
I dream that a day will come when my four children will live in a country where they will be judged not by the absence of pupils, but in accordance with their personal qualities.
I dream today!
I dream today that one day in the elven kingdom with its malicious racists and a king from whose lips fly words of interference and annulment, one fine day, right there, little malicious boys and girls will take the hands of little kind boys and girls as sisters and brothers.Still plundering caravans:
