I've read your post and have an idea. How about GMs severely punishing those who reveal their characters' identities? And let's consider revealing identities as any hints about a character's role that reach the GM (yeah, like the GM says "it seemed to me," and that's enough), with the exception of justified statements based on actions (for example, when I played a werewolf pretending to be a Cossack, no one was offended).
