New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
Heroes 5 is a no-go. I don't like it. Haven't played it.

Played Champions of Gelia just for fun - 55 days. And even then, I didn't get the City Portal in two guilds with libraries (at the tea shop), only in the third one.
Yes, it doesn't feel the same playing on a computer as it used to.
Added after 3 hours and 3 minutes
If you're really interested, I have saves for every turn, I can send them to you, you can take a look.
...Then they say that you need to build troops first and only then build money-generating structures, otherwise you won't be able to play on impossible difficulty. But I build money-generating structures first and play on impossible difficulty without any problems. Who is right??:)
To build a treasury, you need an extra 3 days and 17,500 gold, but it only pays for itself after 11 days. Of course, if there's plenty of free money on the map, then you can take your time. But I haven't noticed any extra cash lying around on the road without protection, especially at the beginning of the game. However, I have noticed that sometimes guests might show up after a week, and it wouldn't be very dignified to receive them without an army. So, in short, build a treasury.
I would add: of course, much depends on the map. If the map is large and enemies cannot come because of border gates or guards (in cases where the author intended only you to be able to visit enemy territory), then you can start with a capitol. But if the map is ordinary, how will you fight enemies without an army, even if you have a billion gold?
As for playing as Castle, especially on impossible difficulty: I would like to see that! I was going to write about why Castle is one of my least favorite cities. There's a topic about this; I don't think it has been discussed yet... Here, I wrote it: /topic/8304/
What's so difficult about Fortress? Here's a simple strategy for playing as Fortress. 1) To build initial and mid-tier units, you only need wood and stone, and there's plenty of both. You need to start with 2-3 heroes. You won't be able to stall for long; by week 2 or 3, you should attack an enemy castle, or even better, two. This will double or triple your income.
If you play on impossible difficulty, it's not that simple. Building Wyverns, in addition to the huge wood cost, requires a lot of gold, which definitely slows down development by a couple of days. But in general, if you play a random Fortress and have a lot of resources on the map, you can build everything up to Wyverns (and even them) and build a Castle. But in general, you need to know how to play with this town, IMHO! :D
It takes an extra 3 days and 17,500 gold to build a treasury, but it will only pay for itself in 11 days.
Are Titans easy to play? While you're upgrading your Titans, others will conquer the whole world! :)
Have you played the "Ready or Not" scenario?
The Tower is a whole different story; the Castle is just too expensive, you'll struggle on Impossible!) I haven't played this scenario, but I can play it if needed.;)
Have you played Heroes 2? There's a scenario called "Pyramid" that's quite challenging. You have to measure every move precisely. And in Heroes 3, there's a scenario called "Titan's Winters" or something similar. On the first island, there are 3 Titan castles and 1 castle with hippos, on the second island, there are 3 Dungeon fortresses, and on the third island, there are 4 Knight fortresses? It's also a difficult scenario, and you play as the Titans. I also completed it on impossible difficulty. But for some reason, the most difficult and interesting scenario is "Champions of Gelia," I recommend you play it. IMHO
I recently played "Champions of Gel", completed it 200% in 5 months, playing as Fortress. As for "Winter Titans", I haven't played it in a long time; the last time I played, I had a huge army of Knights on the ship, and Berserks and Titans saved me! And I rarely play the second Heroes game; I don't like it as much as the third one! :D
