Due to the lack of runes, I can't learn "Fireball," but it's the best spell against Thorns.

Will the reincarnation of this legendary game live up to its name?

Fire rain...
Due to the lack of runes, I can't learn "Fireball."
I myself played as a mage on normal difficulty and completed it without any problems, although I got stuck in some places. For example, I killed the kraken after the dwarves and the spider, and I actually felt sorry for it :)
Then I tried playing as a warrior on impossible difficulty - Darion didn't pose any particular problems, but I got stuck on the Islands of Freedom, and then "The Princess" came out... The Marshlands are really difficult, but you can leave the strongest units for later and finish them off when you come back for the indulgence. This quest is not mandatory, but it is extremely useful - with the Ruby of Angar, fairies, dryads, and demonesses become a formidable force...
And you can also engage in breeding strong units for the sake of quests - it's a very entertaining thing, if you don't overdo it ;)
Otherwise, it's almost disappointing that our experience isn't being used. We played on Impossible difficulty, but it should be twice easier on Normal.
At first, when I arrived in Kordar, I was very happy: soon I would have the last two elementals at my disposal! But, while I was looking for where to recharge Lina, I got lost, lost half of my army in battles, and had to return to Darion. But, as a result, I still received significant support (the artifact is just great :)!), descended into Lower Khadar, cleared the upper part, found the king, and received a quest for the Bogachcho Castle (which also means getting the Reaper :) ). But, I didn't have enough strength yet, so I wandered around the Ardan Peaks, returned home, finished clearing the islands, defeated the Kraken, and with a large army, I set off. And now, with a depleted army, but with the last elemental, I arrived in Darion by airship :). I was given access to cavalry, and I encountered a money problem. However, I still have enough gold (200,000), the cavalry died, I replaced them with white bears, I am finishing clearing Kordar - I will kill the spider last. The elves are waiting! It's time to free the little princess!
I completed this half of the game in 14 days, Bill Gilbert is level 17. Among the elementals, Slaim has the most levels - he is level 18, Zerok is level 17, but I hardly use them, I think they won't gain any more levels. Lina is level 12, I plan to develop her to at least level 20, the Reaper is level 4, I'm thinking about what to develop in him first, all his abilities are good. I really like the game, I think I will play it again and again :)!

Had millions of gold; my rear end was sore from fighting black dragons – I skipped them; there was nowhere to invest runes after maxing out good skills in the magic guild and others; the elf island is disappointing with its poor design and inconvenience, it's the only island where I used my own notes on the map. I quit after killing Karador. It's interesting to explore the magical lands and learn about them; it's NOT interesting to grind through thousands of monotonous battles.
Just an average game.
... It's not interesting to grind through thousands of monotonous battles.
Mediocre.
P.S. - Try playing on the impossible difficulty level and without any losses at all... and it will become more fun ;)
OH, I SAW A NEW UNIT AND I CAN HIRE IT, but what's the point? What's the point of yet another typical unit? To look at its animation, and see how much damage it does with its ability "deal damage"? Is that the point of the game?
In Heroes, you need to develop your castle, allocate resources, and fight against the enemy. Fighting neutral creatures is possibly the most boring part of the game, and here it's the main goal.
BORING.
What does difficulty have to do with it? Well, the enemy units will become tougher, battles will take even longer, and they will be even more exhausting. My complaint isn't about the ease of battles, but about their sheer number. You can't walk ten meters without getting into another typical battle, and there's nothing else in the game. Grinding, suppressing boredom, fighting through monotonous, tedious battles. It was still interesting to get all the spirits and try them out, but then it's just more boredom. There are no interesting events or features that liven up the Gameplay – just sleep-inducing, monotonous battles and quests that involve battles.

What does difficulty have to do with it?
On impossible, you have to think: what to cast and in what order, when to wait, where to move, and how to counterattack.
For me, the interest lies in doing what seemed impossible yesterday. It might take a month to complete. The interest isn't in beating all the bots in two days; that can actually get tiring.
All these schemes had been played out hundreds of times in Heroes of Might and Magic, which has much more to offer.
I agree with you on some points; battles with neutral creatures do get boring quickly. But there are also interesting battles! For example, when fighting an enemy hero with a "very strong" threat level, you won't get bored.
I played through the original King's Bounty in one sitting, and I enjoyed getting contracts to hunt down villains and exploring everything. The second time, this concept didn't appeal to me at all.
P.S. If you play without losses, the game will become boring even faster. Using the same units without any rotation.
Unfortunately, battles against a hero weren't really perceived as "Battles against a Hero." You might just get hit with a fireball. Only the battles on interesting arenas with various objects on them were entertaining. Otherwise, there's no variety, and that's the main and huge flaw of the game.
P.S. If you play without losses, the game gets boring even faster. With the same troops, without any rotation.
For a playthrough without losses, as I think, many conditions are needed. This includes being good at preserving troops, having the "Resurrection" spell, a good mana reserve, and durable troops. It's easier in "Heroes." But in general, I don't set the goal of playing without losses. It's just extra hassle, especially since it's impossible to do as a Warrior.
Here I am walking around Ellinia. The first location didn't impress me with its landscape, but "Valley of the Seven Rivers" is much more beautiful. As in "Princess," no scouts were generated anywhere; I want to hire some Black Unicorns for the battle with Karador. But they're nowhere to be found either. I'll have to use regular ones. So far, I've cleared two locations; there's still some annoying mage left in the "Magic Valley," and in the capital, I still need to destroy a couple of groups of troops. Then I'll go for a walk in the "Great Forest" and talk to the Tree of Life. The battles in Ellinia are surprisingly quick and not boring, although they are not easy; my Reaper is gaining momentum.
