Something seems off about Direal.
The ability pushes enemies back based on the ATV scale by 2% for each level. So, Direal at level 21 will push enemies back by 14%.
And the critical hit against creatures applies and deals a maximum of 225% of its damage. And 40% is the chance for the Avenger's strike to trigger.
I think it's like this.

Exactly - it's extra damage. And it's only 14%. Slightly better than any other elf can do with this spell against enemies. A cheater, there's nothing else to say. And there's also Chain Lightning, which has a similar effect and is much more effective, so this summon is completely unnecessary for an elf.

Before writing something like that, at least check the manual ;) . Especially for those who like to argue for the sake of arguing - read my message #1006 more carefully - and if, in addition, the damage is dealt through "Enchanted Rain" - it will be easy to see that "Hive" will be much more effective than "Chain Lightning" (both in terms of displacement on the scale and in terms of damage).
Is it true that the "Enemies" effect affects the Hive?

Really? Maybe I'm missing something about the Elves, but in the manual, the spell for the Master Hive is calculated using the formula 40+8*spell power, and for Master Lightning, it's 25+25*spell power. I don't understand what Enchanted Rain has to do with it. If the idea is that we'll be attacking all enemies with the Hive, and only one with Lightning, that's silly. In any case, there's also the Ice Lord.
Could it be that the "Enemies" effect affects the Hive?
As they say - feel the difference ;)
P.S. I'm not even talking about the fact that in a long game, the pushback from Direal will only increase, and at level 30 (for example), it will already be 0.72, and the additional damage from "Hive" will also increase by 150%

Why would the Hive deal 410 damage? Let's calculate: 40 + 8 * 20 = 200. Lightning: 25 + 25 * 20 = 525. Or have I forgotten how to calculate?
Well, there might be slightly more units in the Hive, never mind. And Lightning should knock back (in theory) the same number of units. What's the mistake?

Well, now everything is clear:smile42:

The ability pushes enemies back based on their AT (Attack) value, by 2% for each level. So, Direal at level 21 will push enemies back by 14%.

I think it works like that.
No, you're confusing things about Anwen. 40% is the base chance for the Avenger skill to trigger, that's correct. But Anwen, thanks to her specialization, deals 2% damage to all cursed enemies per level. And she deals 100%. She can also deal, like a regular Ranger hero, with a 40% chance, double damage, that is, critical damage. That's how I see it.

I thought you were initially talking about Dyrael.
Well, yes, and then about Anwen. And Vinrael is also a good hero. You can make an excellent chaos mage out of him. With Rain, Druids, and Artifacts, he'll be such a chaos mage that even a Warlock would be envious.
Education (Attraction, Graduate, Reward), Chaos Magic (either Fire or Cold, depending on what's in the guild), Leadership (Diplomacy, Empathy), Defense (Resilience, Stone Skin, Dodge), Attack (Tactics, Archery, Magic) + either Logistics with Offense or Luck (Elven or Sorcerer). What do you think?:)
