Dear Pavel Dubrovin, I have a huge request!
Something strange is happening in the forums. There has always been a group of reasonable people on World, leading the forum towards prosperity. I already wrote about this in one of the topics – in the beginning, back in 2007, it was Adelaide, Tanya, Invisible, vbn, Alex R, Reper, and Evgeny. These were truly the forum leaders.
Some of them could no longer devote much time to the game, and gradually, others replaced them – Loy, Джавдет, Decontaminator, Mizrael, Nagan.
Then AK appeared, and new players grew into forum leaders.
This is a natural process; over several years, the composition of this group has completely changed, but the course has remained the same – maximum friendliness, fighting against squabbles and quarrelers, prioritizing the interests of World over personal or group interests.
Those who have been on the forum for a long time, remember how we defended against Bay's attacks, how we moved from confrontation to cooperation with Portal, how the first sprouts of a real unification of different resources emerged, and how we worked with newcomers.
We have never had such an "armageddon" as on Portal, where dozens of people left at once. Nor have we had devastating wars like on Bay (in my opinion, go there and see how many people are there now, and even those are just poker players).
I have already written about the reason – a healthy, functioning layer of true forum leaders, a naturally developed defense of World against external and internal problems. That is why the resource is growing.
Remove this defense, and forum diseases (squabbles, ultimatums, local and selfish interests, etc.) will destroy the forum in a year or two.
People will run away from here, either because of conflicts or simply because it will become uninteresting.
The overwhelming majority of players voted that AK is necessary, and that is right. But how do we identify people who truly enjoy the deserved authority in the Heroes community? The number and thickness of posts mean nothing; a person may write little but bring great benefit.
This has been proven in practice on our forum – only by a named vote of the players. Such polls have been conducted before. Three times – there was a vote to determine the team for inter-portal competitions. Once – when determining the composition of the first AK.
And again – regarding Vitalik's case.
And practically everyone who cares about World expressed their position in the vote.
It seems that the AK composition has indeed aged in a year, and fresh blood is needed. Even the most reliable fighters are retreating, thank God, not all of them. I really liked how you behaved, so I have a huge request.
1. Look at the seasonal rating, list those who have played enough on our resource; I think there are at least 50 people, maybe even more.
Add about 10 respected people from our forum who are not currently playing – Tanya, vbn, Reper, Alex R, Querty, Ketch...
You probably have their ICQ contacts.
And write the following to each: "Elections for the Appeals Committee are currently underway – in fact, the governing council of players of the "HeroesWorld" resource. I ask you to name 7 players whom you trust, who are capable of making balanced decisions on controversial situations in games."
After that, send this message via ICQ. I would have done it myself a long time ago, but I don't have ICQ, and for many new players, my name means nothing.
As practice shows, sufficient information is collected in the first couple of days. From it, the current state of affairs on the forum will immediately become clear.
1. New adequate people have probably appeared, who have already gained the respect of players. It seems awkward for a cultured player, who has been on the forum for a relatively short time, to try to become a leader when there are living veterans. However, if the poll shows great trust from the forum members in this person (say, top 5 or top 7), then you should actively invite the player to AK; he probably has new ideas, a desire to work, and fresh blood is needed on the forum.
2. The opposite situation. A respected member of AK has exhausted his resources; he has worked conscientiously on the forum, but family and work are taking over. Nothing terrible; if he lost in the vote, then he can indeed leave his position with a clear conscience and switch to a more peaceful Heroic life.
3. Another option. A person has received his share of criticism for his work in AK, in my opinion, undeservedly, and is going to step away from active Heroic life. And then, in the poll, he receives almost one hundred percent of the votes (and this will definitely be the case), say, 50 or 60 votes. Naturally, his heart will warm up from such trust, and the votes of forum members with requests to return will melt his heart.
4. Another option. Perhaps someone will think that he is the one who is needed in AK. Now, the situation is such that anyone who wants to can get in there. But this is wrong; a player who does not enjoy real authority will automatically reduce trust and respect for AK. And a person who is not in his place is scary even in virtual life; he can cause a lot of trouble. It is clear that, having received, say, 10-12 votes and 20th place, he will not make rash decisions with claims to leadership.
5. Based on the results of the general vote, the truly most respected players will become clear. Ideally, when the first seven in the vote – all agree to work. But refusals are possible; for example, Alex R could not work in the first AK. But still, at least 5 people from the top ten will agree.
It is not worth taking people from the second ten; AK is an elite council, the most respected players, they should solve the most complex issues and think about the further development of the forum.
Pavel, we have always had friendly relations; for the sake of friendship, I ask you not to refuse and send the poll to the recipients today. It will take no more than half an hour.
It would be very good if you, as a moderator, create a separate topic; perhaps people will not want to vote in ICQ and will prefer to vote directly on the forum; approximately half of the players always did this in previous polls.
With respect.
Also, a big request to the AK members not to hinder such a poll. Guys, we have worked together for a long time; this is needed now.
