Posts from A program for determining luck/morality in Heroes 3!
1. Cranim.txt - This is a text file; it's hard to call it a script, let alone a program. 2. Cranim.txt is a module (part) of the program, more precisely an add-on to the program. By changing Cranim.txt we thereby make a change to the program. 3. But Cranim.txt
no matter what you call it, changes to the game occur one way or another. K0Lb@zzeR;190127
It only serves to speed up the animation, I think this is not a critical parameter, let alone equating it to the category of cheating, that's nonsense IMHO.
I didn't think you were that naive. You evidently didn't read the thread very carefully; re-read the last pages one more time. You can write anything you want, but what's inside, even the author himself doesn't know:) As if they would reveal all the maps to you. That's the thing — there is no manual for the program!
When you buy, say, butter in a store, you come home and open it and there's margarine. Well, okay, it's not critical, I'll make do with margarine.
Cranim.txt is a settings file. It just so happens that (most likely the developers didn't think about it), but these settings affect the game's mechanics. By the way, there might be other similar files, and not just in Heroes 3.
Based on the available data, the modified cranim seems to be the most promising option for me personally. And I agree with the opinion that those who are particularly clever need to figure out the mechanism of this program (I don't understand why some still refuse to accept such a definition, because the fact that the gameplay is changing is obvious). And I really hope that we will finally get control over the morality, which is still uncontrollable.
4) In reality, the program is clearly a cheat, as it modifies the game in some way (whether by changing the Cranim.txt file or not!!!), and anyone who claims otherwise can provide arguments to prove the opposite!:smile10:
In reality, only the modified version of the Cranim.txt file makes changes to the game. This was also mentioned by vbn, and everyone could see it in the example of the battle with the griffins. Those who had the unmodified file, and those who didn't have the file at all, found that the unicorns did not blind the griffins, and there was no way to achieve this.
Based on this, we can conclude that everyone who uses this program is a cheater!? Is that true or not?  Traffic Light and Cranim.txt essentially can perform the same functions!
Not exactly. Traffic Light determines the moment in time when you need to click the mouse to trigger morale/luck. The modified Cranim file hardcodes it into the battle. Moreover, it not only hardcodes morale/luck, but also the casting of spells by units, as well as the AI's moves. The unmodified Cranim file does nothing to the game.
5) Vitaly probably didn't know or realize that this program somehow affects the game's structure; he thought it only happened in the griffins scenario, as he wrote in his description, and he can be understood. Moreover, no one said before that the Cranim.txt program was a cheat!
In its original form, it is not a cheat. It became a cheat (in the context of this tournament) only after it was modified.
Thoroughly analyze this program, and if the test is positive (if morale and luck can be repeated with 100% probability using it), consider the possibility of implementing it, with modifications for each tournament (possibly), so that everyone is on equal footing (as Banana suggested).
I think we are primarily waiting for help from vbn himself, as the person who has already figured out the file. I looked at it yesterday, but I didn't really understand anything. He not only understood it, but also modified it intelligently, speeding up the animation. I think he knows how this file works and what its relationship is to the executable of the third game.
In reality, only a modified version of the Cranim.txt file introduces changes to the game. This is what vbn wrote about, and what everyone could verify for themselves using the example of the battle with the griffins. Both those who had this unmodified file and those who didn't have the file at all found that the unicorns did not blind the griffins, and it was impossible to achieve this by any means.
One cannot evaluate the impact of Cranim.txt on changes to the game based on just a single battle. If you provide specific data, obtained through practical implementation across several (say, 10) battles, and conducted without using the file, using a modified file, and without the file, then that would be substantiated. For now, all of this is merely your speculation, which cannot be considered as factual. Catch;190156
Not quite. The traffic light determines the moment in time when you need to click the mouse for morale/luck to trigger. The modified cranim hardcodes it into the battle. Moreover, it codes not only morale/luck but also the casting of spells by units, as well as the computer's turns. The unmodified cranim does nothing to the game.
Present a table of results for Cranim.txt. You can only convince the community by proving you are right, not by speculation. Catch;190156
In its original form, it is not cheat-like. It only became cheat-like (in the context of this tournament) after it was modified.
How will you prove that it is not cheat-like? I think otherwise. Who is right? Where is it written that Cranim.txt cannot be edited and that in its original form it does not introduce changes? According to my information, it does introduce changes!
And in general, how does it work, and if no one knows how, why was its use allowed on HP? Or are there people who can explain in detail how this program can alter the game's structure, but are either too shy to tell the community, or simply don't want to be exposed.
2AlexSpl: And why specifically 888, and not 666? This program truly belongs to the category of devilish things.
Because the program was released on August 8th of this year.
And regarding the modified file, a decision needs to be made! But the decision should be made by a vote of a select group of people, not everyone! Catch;190156

Everything is fine, but first, I would advise Anton and Banana to apologize to vbn! Otherwise, it looks very bad! Yes, he violated the rules, but he is not a cheater!!!!

How can you prove that it's not a cheat? I think otherwise. Who is right?
AlexSpl has already proven it by saying that the movement time does not affect the R stat
You cannot judge the impact of Cranim.txt on changes to the game based on just one battle. If you provide specific data from practical implementation across several (say 10) battles, moreover without using the file, using the modified file, and without the file, then that would be substantiated. For now, these are all your conjectures, which cannot be considered real.
I hope you have conducted those proverbial 10 battles? Read the posts above carefully, including the post by vbn, in which he asserts the same as I do. In my case, the comparison was by no means based on a single battle.
You can only convince the community by proving you are right, not by conjectures.
So far, I only see conjectures from one side.
How will you prove that it is not a cheat? I think otherwise. Who is right? Where is it written that Cranim.txt cannot be edited and that in its original form it does not introduce changes? According to my information, it actually does introduce them!
Then make your information public. Since here we, the entire Heroes community, are discussing the situation that has arisen.
And in general, how does it work, and if no one knows how, why was it allowed to be used on HP? Or are there still people who can explain in detail how this program can change the structure of the game, but are either too shy to tell the community, or simply don't want to be caught out.
I think there are people, but the file is many years old, and I'm afraid we may not find those who created it or authorized its use. So far, only one thing is obvious. That when some parameters in the file are reset, the number R becomes constant, meaning the battles become similar to battles in Two. No other factors of the file's influence on the gameplay have been identified so far, or rather, they are unknown to me.
5) Vitaly probably didn't know or realize that this program somehow affects the game's structure. He thought it only happened in the griffon scenario, which is what he wrote in his description, and you can understand him. Moreover, no one had said before that the Cranim.txt program was a cheat!
Based on this, we can conclude that everyone who uses this program is a cheater!? Is that true or not? Traffic Light and Cranim.txt essentially perform the same functions!
I used this file in several online tournaments, and I'm definitely not the only one. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions without fully understanding what makes this program a cheat. But if you call it a cheat, then call everyone who has this program a cheater too:mad:

Zhenya, you really haven't figured it out! The program isn't a cheat, but Vitaly modified it, and now it is.

Indeed, you should figure things out first, and then write. In its unmodified form, the file doesn't change the game's structure. In this case, the file was modified.
In its unmodified form, the file does not change the game's structure. However, in this case, the file has been modified.
And, judging by all accounts, this is the most reliable way to neutralize the "traffic light" issue. What about tournaments in the future? I'm in favor of resetting the ranking.
Where does it say that Cranim.txt cannot be edited and that it doesn't make changes in its original form? According to my information, it does!
According to the results of disassembly, the stack movement time is not an influencing parameter.
I conducted tests on several save files, including a pre-made one, at different animation speeds. As expected, the time delays required to achieve morale, luck, or a specific spell for a wizard were completely identical in the case with Cranim and without it. The animation speed predictably affected this time.
I think that the unknown author of Cranim knew (from experience or also disassembled) which parameters can be changed and which cannot.
And if the organizers are interested in my opinion, I am in favor of modifying Cranim and holding tournaments with a strict description of the battles.
It’s simple. Cheating implies malicious intent and the impossibility of replicating it in a real-life setting. There is 100% no malicious intent here. Regarding the ability to replicate it, there is a problem, but the save file is taken anyway, even if it’s from a different game. And the rules always imply the existence of exceptions. We just need to decide – whether to adopt the semaphore system or this mod/file. I hope no one is planning to take 1st place away from vbn?
