Posts from Tactics for playing as the Dwarves.
Yes, light magic is indeed good, but instead of focusing on attack, I prioritize defense; I don't know, I just like it more, but in this situation, focusing on attack is definitely more suitable.
First, I level up defense, definitely up to the maximum; that's the main thing. It makes it much easier to defeat neutrals, and we don't need anything else for now.
Then, you need to decide what to prioritize. If the game will be long, it's better to try to get Education because of the magic attraction, as light magic consumes a lot of mana, and we can defeat neutrals without it. But if the map is small or there are serious neutrals that need to be dealt with, then we take light magic first. I only take Leadership after that, as it's not as useful without Retribution.
I would really like to hear how others conduct battles because online dwarves passed me by, as I've been stuck with a slow internet connection for 4 months, and I only started playing as dwarves after the Horde expansion.

Hmm, did attack and defense reach 20? How is that possible? In the early stages of the game? I'm not doubting it, but I'm just curious where you can get that much in the beginning... Especially attack. Please explain.
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.

Soldier's Luck is definitely one of the most useful skills (many units have special abilities that trigger).
I don't invest in Runes. The initial ones are good, but the others didn't impress me much.
Right now, I'm deciding whether to recruit Harpooners or Pikemen. As ranged units, they're both not very good. But the crippling strike is quite useful against fast enemy units...

My entire gaming experience boils down to completing campaigns, so I can't claim to be an experienced player, but it seems to me that investing in Light magic for Dwarves is unnecessary, as Runes and Light magic practically duplicate each other. Runes offer resurrection, dispel magic, and punishing strike, just like Light magic. What Dwarves lack is a unit that can effectively counter archers, which is why the Blindness spell was very useful. Of course, you can use the Fire Wall spell for priests against archers, but I think Blindness will be more useful because you can break out of the fire, but there might not be enough time for a second attack from the priests.

So back off your rules,
Back off your jive!
Cause I'm sick of not living,
To stay alive,
Leave me alone!
I'm not asking a lot -
I just don't want to be controlled,
That's all I want.

Of course, dwarves are positioned as a magical race, but it seems to me that they are more inclined towards swordsmanship than magic. I suggest discussing such a development option: we pump luck, leadership, attack, defense, logistics, and the lack of magic is compensated by runes.

I think it's very, very important to take "Quick Mind" if you have poor logistics and your hero is a light mage.
