Posts from Guide on adding a new model, animation, and creature to HoMMV
Yes, you import the animation file in GR2 format into 3ds max, and you get a skeleton with animation.
Added 1 hour 28 minutes ago I found another program (Noesis) that can extract animations into various formats (including FBX, SMD, PSK-PSA). For the plugin in the program to process the files correctly, the files must have the *.gr2 extension. The plugin was taken from here - https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22277.

Hmm, I'll try it on the weekend....thanks.

In principle, it is possible - if I remember correctly, with the help of ARKHANGEL, you can extract a model and a skeleton that are not linked (then you need to do skinning of the model), and with the help of a plugin for 3DS Max 2008, you can load the skeleton and animation. Also, the model can be loaded into 3ds Max, after предварительно processing the model file from the game with the program mesh2wrl_by_CrazyPill (without a skeleton).
Can you tell me more about the skeleton and animation? I extracted the model with Arkhangel, it's simple, I understood everything... But I struggled with the skeleton - it's useless.
https://disk.yandex.ru/i/bF6oYwxYSAbUyg I have this problem... granny2_64.dll is required (I didn't understand how to insert an image here, so I uploaded it to Yandex Disk)....Maybe you can send me your DLL; if your program doesn't complain, then you must have it?

Then, you probably need to run the Noesis.exe (32-bit) program and not Noesis64.exe (64-bit). Although, it works for me on all bit versions (you can search for "granny2_64.dll" here). Or, using the plugin for 3DS Max 2008, import the gr2 file with animation or skeleton.

Ugh, everything always goes wrong somehow (other files work right away). On page 20, I posted a link to the program "GR2Tool_by_Distraught_granny211_v13.exe". Try dragging the file onto "GR2Tool_by_Distraught_granny211_v13.exe" -> enter 1 3 4, press Enter -> a copy of the file with the suffix "_new.gr2" will appear (try opening it in the "Noesis" program, and if that doesn't work, replace the first 16 bits in the file header using a HEX editor, as described below). Open the resulting file with a HEX editor and change the first 16 bits in the file header from "29DE6CC0BAA4532B25F5B7A5F666E2EE" to "B867B0CAF86DB10F84728C7E5E19001E" and save the result.
Now the resulting file is ready to use (I managed to open the 268 KB file, just like in your screenshot, which wouldn't open right away).

Hmm, I'll try... but why are you posting pictures on such a bad website? ))) When I click to enlarge, porn pops up in another tab! Now I'll have to scan for viruses too ((
It's okay if it redirects to a library... but I don't really want it to redirect to a porn site)))))
Added 23 minutes later Yeah... I did everything as described, but I get a different error and no result.... I don't know why.... And another question - why is it interesting to change the first 16 bits specifically to "B867B0CAF86DB10F84728C7E5E19001E"? Where does this number come from?
Apparently, it depends on individual interests 🤔. But seriously, with "uBlock Origin" and "Firefox," I haven't had any ads or pop-ups for about 8 years. Pavlinho

It just has to be done that way!!! (but in this case, it's not even required).Pavlinho
I'm looking at the screenshot and notice that your 555_new.gr2 file is only 165 KB, while mine is 451 KB. Here's a video showing how I convert 555.gr2 (which doesn't open in the program) to 555_new.gr2 and then open it without any errors. If that doesn't help, then I'm out of ideas 😴.

That's how it should be!!! (but in this case, it's not necessary) I'm looking at the screenshot and notice that your 555_new.gr2 file is only 165 KB, while mine is 451 KB. I'm downloading it now, I'll take a look... I use Opera, I'm very used to it, but it still gets through, even though I have the built-in ad blocker enabled... but still, about the Hex Editor and that magic number - why is it specifically that number, and is it the same for all models?
Added 5 minutes later I've checked... it's a miracle, I did the same thing... you just used a different model, or rather, a different skeleton... I used the Titan... but I'll try again now....
Added 33 minutes later It worked... damn, I just tried to open the skeleton like that, not the animation... But how do you open the skeleton in a T-pose then?
aaa, I'm stupid))- the skeleton is dragged through the Archangel))) That's it, thanks for the help!!!! Just need it in SMD format, and the model will have the skeleton...)))))

Also, just use the skeleton file from the Skeletons folder.
If you use the Noesis64 program, an error appears on the skeleton))) but the animation is without an error....

Oh, and another question... is there a way to find out which animations correspond to a given model and skeleton, for example, for the Titan? There are a lot of files, and I couldn't find the animation numbers for that creature in the Map Editor.

aaa, I think I found where to look )))
