Sorry... Couldn't resist...

I think this is a significant part of the series' charm: the main character is definitely not a perfect hero, and overall, he is as far from being an idealized or "Mary Sue" character as possible.

Code Geass has been bothering me for a long time as a permanent fixture in the lists of the best anime of all time, but based on what I know, I get the impression that in terms of obnoxiousness and inflated ego, Lelouch would be on par with Kira from Death Note.

Didn't watch the series.
Lelouch is sometimes extremely unpleasant, but it's done in a way that makes you sympathize with him even more. You constantly hope that the good in him will eventually prevail, because some of his goals and ideals are quite admirable. And he's just stylish.

Well, Kira has a similar situation, but I think around the third episode, I started waiting for him to finally get what he deserves.
Okay, I'm increasingly convinced that I won't like Code Geass.

I believe it's strong psychologically, but I don't want any kind of "dark" mysticism, so I doubt it.

I liked the detective element and the intricate plots the most. After episode 26, everything becomes very bad, and you can skip straight to the finale. But I've already mentioned it here before: it's too dark and depressing, and the main character is a complete jerk and scumbag, not evoking any empathy, so it didn't appeal to me.

Maybe that's why I kept watching it, because of the atmosphere.

I'll update you on my current ongoing watches in order of decreasing engagement. 1. Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season I started watching this season thinking that I had grown a bit tired of the series over time, but I quickly realized that this was a mistaken opinion. It's still as good as it used to be, mainly because of the feeling of continuing a long adventure that started 7 years ago. It would also be nice if the manga-like creatures didn't spoil everything at every turn, but that's my own fault. 2. Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu I mentioned before that I almost missed it while browsing the new season. I really like the graphics and the world-building, which is perfectly complemented by excellent humor, plot, and cool characters. It has great potential for the future, if there is material for new seasons and they decide to film them. 3. World Witches Hasshin Shimasu! It's easy. 4. Ore dake Haireru Kakushi Dungeon A quintessential "snow person" story; it's exactly what I like. 5. Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin! Excellent. It's a significant improvement over their previous attempt at an anime. 6. Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken 2nd Season The first half of the first season was great, the second half was a bit tiring, and the new season is somewhere in between. I also got some spoilers, and it happened when I was searching for information that had nothing to do with the anime industry... 7. Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? >Anime about a spider >Spider is cool. And yet... It's actually quite good. It's even strange. In essence, it's the beginning of Slime, but without a quick resolution. Also, Yuki Aoi definitely carries this title with her voice. 8. Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi Many cool moments, sometimes reminiscent of an expansion pack, sometimes like an H game on RPG Maker. However, it's too malicious, too "hentai," and too serious for a "yeti" – it's not quite what I like in this genre. 9. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2 I've only watched 4 episodes so far, and it's the most tiring season of all. 10. Hataraku Saibou BLACK As always, it's an excellent implementation of an interesting idea, but it's not very engaging to watch. 11. Jujutsu Kaisen It's perceived a little better now than at the beginning, but there are still too few good elements, and those that exist are often spoiled (like in the latest episode, just when you start to feel the brotherly-mentor relationship between the protagonist and another guy, you get a cringe moment from the English dub). 12. Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun The protagonist lives in Japan, in a normal house, goes to a normal school, is perfectly healthy, has a good mind and reflexes, and complains that real life is an unfair game... Go to the factory, buddy. 13. Horimiya It's the blandest of all the school romance stories I've seen. 14. Soukou Musume Senki It's good for breakfast. 15. Yakusoku no Neverland 2 Meh. 16. 5-Toubun no Hanayome ∬ 17. Log Horizon: Entaku Houkai I started watching both titles by watching the first two episodes, but I haven't made any progress since then, so it's too early to judge. I'm not very enthusiastic.

It's funny how people can dislike English now...

It's probably the most bland of all the school romance stories I've seen.

It's one of the best shoujo I've seen. It has a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. Funny humor. Pleasant artwork. Charismatic main characters. There aren't really any love triangles (if you don't count the unrequited feelings of a secondary character), nor are there long, drawn-out misunderstandings spanning hundreds of episodes. The main characters are quite likable, not just a couple of bland characters with no distinguishing features. The male character isn't some abusive creep, as is often the case. There's a good focus on the development of the protagonists' relationship, which makes it feel quite smooth, natural, and realistic. I would say that this title as a whole has a slightly greater emphasis on realism than is usually the case for shoujo. The opening is misleading, though, and is more suitable for something like 3-gatsu no Lion than for a lighthearted slice-of-life rom-com.

15. Yakusoku no Neverland 2
Mecha.

It's probably the best advertisement for a manga I've ever seen. In the sense that it's better to go read the manga than to watch the second season.

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season

I like it even more than the first season, but I've already said that. The characters behave logically and consistently; there are no more pathetic attempts at horror, it's just great.
It's a pity that Mikasa's appearance has been made so unattractive (I even thought it was Levi when she first appeared), but oh well.

Yakusoku no Neverland 2

Something about the second season is really disappointing after the magnificent first season. Maybe it's because they're skipping events from the manga, as Ples said, I don't know. But I'm really upset.
However, something interesting seems to be happening in the last episode. Let's see...
