We have significantly improved the random map generator. Please help with testing – create one or more templates and check the correctness of the generated map. You can also test it in real matches.
What has been done: 1. Always "good roads" for human players. 2. Blocks along roads have been excluded; now, only mine guards can block the road. 3. One-way exits have been eliminated. The generator now has 16 two-way portals: 8 standard + 8 entrances from one-way portals. 4. "Buggy passages" between zones have been eliminated. 5. The distance between towns is at least 1 cell.
Attached is FreshMod5a.dll, which you can use to see the result of the new algorithm.
The installation process is the same: Unzip the archive in the attachment into a new folder in: "...\_HD3_Data\Packs", then connect this folder in the HD mod launcher window.
Did the algorithm help, or was something else used?

Yes, it helped, thanks again.

Improved the pathfinding algorithm for 2SM4d.
Now, Red and Blue always have an equal number of roads.
It only needs to be tested in multiplayer.
Because in single-player, there will only be one player, and all the roads will belong to them.

I think so.
Actually, there are no problems with understanding what needs to be fixed; the problem is understanding how to fix it.
Plans for fixing:
1. Misplaced guards
2. Flooded areas
3. Mountainous respawn points
4. Reducing the size variance of zones.
Right now, it's important to refine what has been done, and then we can move on.

Thank you very much. I tested it with 30 different map layouts. Each time, each player had 3 paths. Moreover, not a single map layout was generated without a path to the Guardian. :smile23:

A revolution in playing on small maps :D. It's been about 10 years, and small maps can be played again :smile23:
It would be great to add the ability to enable interface improvements (such as exchanging artifacts within a city, plus adding the ability to estimate movement ranges during an opponent's turn), as well as improvements to fix generator bugs, separately from purely gameplay changes in the Freshmod (including native troops in objects). Right now, much of what is presented as "no gameplay changes" actually changes (and in my opinion, significantly worsens) the gameplay.
This would allow leading players to include the Freshmod in Tournaments as the default in the future (currently, it is usually only by mutual agreement).
But even with the generator fixes, you need to proceed with extreme caution. Perhaps, for small templates like the Community Map Kit (CMK), "road alignment" is great; but for XL+U, this could lead to a weakening of non-linearity, and consequently, a deterioration in the interest of the gameplay.

Currently, from the so-called "Basic, non-disableable changes":
1. The main sticking point is that it simplifies the restructuring of the game map below any criticism. Absolutely unacceptable.
2. Personally, I don't like it, but I can accept it.
3. Unacceptable - it removes randomness, reducing the interest of the gameplay.
4. I don't like it as a gameplay change, but I can accept it (I would like accurate information on how the value has changed).
The remaining points are either not bad or good (only point 14 raises questions: what exactly are the changes?).
In total: If points 1 and 7 are removed (or moved to Gameplay changes), I think the Freshmod will become in demand as the default in many Tournaments. It is also possible to make a separate, switchable option from the other Gameplay changes to enable "native troops from Hives and Conservatories," as the most significant, but also quite interesting, gameplay change.

plus, add the ability to estimate movement ranges during the opponent's turn.
Are we talking about the ability to view movement ranges by holding down the Alt key, or something else?
1. The main problem is that it simplifies the restructuring of heroes to an unacceptable degree. Absolutely unacceptable.
It would be interesting to hear other opinions on this matter: should restructuring from any level be moved to the IIP?
7. Unacceptable - it removes randomness and reduces the interest of the gameplay.
I agree that, in essence, this is more suitable for the IIP, but it's such a minor thing. I disagree that it removes randomness - the skill received is unknown, and it cannot be refused.
I would like precise information on how the value has changed.

There were no restructurings in the original, it seems like it was about 3 years ago. Therefore, the change as in 1, in my opinion, only slightly increases the pace, plus I like that, for example, on some Jebus, you can get the missing oil, or in conditions where you see future resource problems, you don't build an extra 5th floor, but focus on getting TP. 7 is also not very critical, it just allows you to pump the main hero or take a risk to get a useful skill (or the main hero).
In general, I really like the current situation, and I am in favor of adding the HW rules with these changes. I don't think it is necessary to introduce a bunch of checkboxes.

AI Improvements Pack (AIIP) - changes to the gameplay. It would be interesting to hear other opinions on whether it is worth transferring the restructuring from any level to the AIIP.
Of course, opinions can be heard, but it is important to understand that any imposition of the AIIP in tournaments (if it is not approved by everyone, or almost everyone - and not 15 "for" and 10 "against") inevitably leads to a decrease in the number of participants and gives another reason for the gloating cries of haters: "SoD is dying/dead." Therefore, it is extremely important that the default part of the mod is, as far as possible, limited to improving the convenience of the game interface and fixing bugs in the generator, and everything else is a plug-in "for those who like it." I admit that after the AIIPs started appearing after the first edition, I stopped following the FreshMod updates for a long time, believing that it was inevitably turning into trash. I admit that I may have rushed to conclusions; now there is a positive trend. If it prevails - namely, the desire to improve the interface, fix bugs, but at the same time maintain a very careful attitude to the heroic gameplay, then, in my opinion, the FreshMod team may become the main contender for "contribution to the development of the heroic movement." If, however, the desire for innovation prevails, then a slide into trash is almost inevitable.

There were no changes in the original, it's probably been around for 3 years. Therefore, the change, as in version 1, in my opinion, only slightly increases the pace, plus I like that, for example, on some map, you can get the missing oil, or, given potential resource problems in the future, instead of building an extra 5th level, you can focus on getting Town Portal. 7 is also not very critical; it simply allows you to level up your main hero or take a risk and get a useful skill (either for the main hero or for another hero).
In general, I really like the current state, and I am in favor of supplementing the HW rules with these changes. I don't think it's necessary to introduce a bunch of extra options.

Some people obsess over every little detail, and if you listen to them all, you shouldn't change anything at all. The "rebuilding" mechanic was not invented by the developers, and it can be improved in any way. Opponents of this are simply too lazy to learn/get used to the new system.
Perhaps some people won't want to accept even these minor changes, but there will also be an influx of new people/the return of old ones. I am sure that there will be those who will not accept even adequate changes to the generator, which will make the generations as the authors intended them to be, rather than what is happening now with incomprehensible paths, bugs, and endless one-way roads on HL+U. Completely removing one-way roads may not be necessary. But the option with one or two roads leading to the exit should be excluded. If it is not possible without removing them, then what can you do? It's better to remove them.
Regarding the Wizards, the only unpleasant thing is that it shows the presence of magic. You can use a hero with high Wisdom to gain control. Maybe show whether it's a skill or not?

Today it's this, and tomorrow it's 3 stacks at the start, then a dozen new objects, and so on. Is one caricature of the third game not enough? Do we need another one?

Sir Davos, Quentin is going to meet the players and, in my opinion, is making very good changes. Accordingly, we are not creating a parody, but two branches: 1. Balancing/improving existing changes without affecting the gameplay. 2. Testing changes in different skills. This is not the "eat what you're given" idea from HotA, but rather the opposite, it's an alternative. And there are 3 options: pure HW rules (which probably won't be further developed), improved HW rules, or Fresh mod. In my opinion, the middle option is the best, so I don't understand the outrage. I think that if SoD doesn't die, then Fresh Mod with no gameplay changes will become mandatory for tournaments. And you can play fun seasons however you want and with whatever you want. Personally, I would also add to the "no gameplay changes" that mobs guard Pandora artifacts near them, but probably there will be a backlash: "how, you have to lose movement points if you use control!!!11".

Improved HW rules are what I was talking about earlier – it's about improving the interface and fixing bugs in the generator, while being extremely careful about the gameplay. Everything else is a distorted version of HW rules, and pushing it is a sure way to drive players away from HotA tournaments, much to the delight of haters, or even completely out of the game.
Believe me, most people don't express their opinion on the forum. They either complain in private messages or simply leave silently. Therefore, if there is a desire to make Fresh mod the default, then any significant change should not be the default, but moved to the section of optional additions, for those who like it.
