Anime

Yes, Revan already recommended it to me, but since watching it on a phone will probably be quite tedious, I'm postponing it for an indefinite period. For now, I have a couple of smaller titles in mind, and I'll watch those instead.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

And I initially thought it was about a niche.

It seems everyone has already found their niche; now all that’s left is to start delving into those niches.

And I just can’t seem to get into the niche gameplay.

Inuyasha
I think if I had watched this ten years ago, it would easily have become one of my favorite series. I wouldn't say it was a great experience for me now, mainly because of the drawn-out plot, but on the other hand, I haven't been emotionally invested in something so strongly in a long time. I'll also mention that the love triangle ruined what could have been a beautiful love story. The music is excellent. Kosh, you can watch it, but if you don't like the main character's brother, that would be at least strange, because even I was a little turned off by him.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
After watching half of the first arc, I wanted to write a review in the spirit of "it's amazing how this thing can be so mature (in terms of rating) and so childish and primitive (in terms of plot)."
But no, that would be a mistake. Somewhere in the middle of the first arc and halfway through the second, I actually enjoyed watching it because the psychology seemed quite vivid. Then it faded, of course, and ended with all sorts of epic stuff that Kosha writes about: galaxies and all that. It looks crazy... Is such trash good? It's hard to say. On the one hand, there's a clear comedic element and unserious scenery, and on the other hand, there's an attempt to cram a considerable amount of dramatic moments into it, and as a result, it's unclear how to perceive the result... And whether the creators even intended these moments to be parodic and comedic. It seems I reported something similar about "Slayers!"
In general, I don't share the enthusiasm about throwing galaxies around, but overall it's still a good thing, and it was worth watching.
7.5/10 (I'll round down to seven on MAL in this case).

But if Fullmetal Alchemist had these elements on top of everything good that's already in it, wouldn't it just be better?

For some reason, I reread this conversation and remembered.
Because in FMA: B there was exactly one fanservice scene for the entire series, but it's the one that is still remembered. Because it's done well, like a cherry on a magnificent cake, and it looks completely appropriate and not vulgar.
The complete opposite of those series for which fanservice is the second "I," but its abundance only leads to facepalms, not to improving the spectacle.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

I watched it over ten years ago, and even back then, when I didn't have any attention problems, I didn't really enjoy it. Well, I mean, it was moderately interesting, but it gets a five out of ten on my rating scale.

TTGL is like a spherical anime in a vacuum, and that's what makes it good. They simply neatly packed everything into it.

In FMA, as in those same Slayers, they remembered to include fanservice, with about one and a half scenes for both male and female audiences. But out of both titles, I only appreciated Zelgadis in black underwear in the second season, I think. For everything else, I'm not the target audience, sorry.

Kimi no Na wa.
It turned out to be pretty much what I expected. It's engaging, well-drawn, and the pacing is good (I didn't feel the need to pause and do something else), but it's not super interesting and not particularly touching. 7/10, and that's being generous.
I'll probably forget what it was about in a few months.

Psycho-Pass (2014, series)
This is exactly what I wanted to watch. Seriously, it's emotionally engaging, and the world looks (at least initially) quite good.
The main character, Akane, is well-developed; she starts as an inexperienced and somewhat whiny character, but her evolution is shown very well. And her colleagues are likable from the start – some for their intelligence (Kogami), others for their philosophical and calm nature (Masaoka), and the rest are also good... It's genuinely interesting that, apart from some minor villains, no one evokes strong negative feelings; everyone is interesting in their own way, and everyone fits their role.
Now, for the downsides. There's a bit too much excessive and brutal violence, especially in the first half of the series. As well as too many creepy Japanese faces (also in the first half). Perhaps this serves some purpose, like showing how easily people's mental state can deteriorate in such a society, but I think it's not necessary to degrade everything so much (in all senses of the word) to convey this idea. After all, the villains who don't have these flaws also demonstrate everything well.
The second thing that seemed strange to me is the idea that in such a society, everyone is so worried about their crime coefficients. Even now, in developed countries, crime (not among various immigrants or within obviously disadvantaged areas where the middle class doesn't live) is not something that everyone thinks about 24/7. In the society shown to us, there is a very strict control, which should, in theory, make crime something rare. Therefore, it's unclear why people should worry about these "nuances." Unless it's from the point of view of mental balance, and not constant fear that the system will decide that you're going to start cutting people.
And third, there's a spoiler, but those who have seen (or will see) it will understand. In short, there's one plot twist that seems unexpected in its own way, but on the other hand, it's more likely pulled out of thin air, and in the end, it somewhat undermines the realism of the world's structure. Although mainly from a technological point of view.
Overall, it's quite good... I'll give it an 8/10. I don't know, maybe I'm too generous with these ratings, but compared to the rest of my list, it's about that.
And yes, I don't often say this, but

Sky, you can watch it.

In the same society that is shown to us, there is a very strict control, which should theoretically make crimes rare. Therefore, it is unclear why people should worry about these "shades of darkness."

Or is it to avoid being labeled as a second-class citizen, sent to a mental institution, or turned into a pile of meat?

It is assumed that this will not happen if you don't have criminal thoughts, just like most people. And if it does happen, you simply go to a psychologist a couple of times, and everything is fine. That is, 98% of the population shouldn't worry about it, just as you and I don't walk down the street thinking, "What if I do something crazy and get arrested?!"
Of course, this doesn't apply to investigators and other people in "difficult" jobs.
Another matter is the overall psychological profile and various recommendations for hiring, and concern about this seems quite logical.

Sometimes I'm just amazed at how supposedly normal people can be so naive compared to a hardened escapist like me.

What exactly is naive?

I don’t want my tone to darken, so I won’t answer.
