If a bronze/silver/gold card is a staple in a deck, it means it is no less important than a legendary. And the color certainly doesn't affect how "waifu-worthy" it is.

I'd agree with that too. In the current Sword & Sorcery, I'd also agree about Lumina (Albert was used in the old version). Ozya > Illusionist, Ectar > Catacomber, Belfiq > Sabertooth, and so on. In a game where you can put three copies of a legendary into your deck, it's not surprising. On the other hand, I like Blizzard's approach to legendaries, that a legendary should a) do something, not necessarily super powerful or game-changing, but definitely unique, not similar to cards of a lower rank; b) depict some significant character from the lore, preferably a named one. In Heroes of Might and Magic, neither of these is observed, which diminishes the significance of legendaries, not from a gameplay perspective, but in terms of perception/aesthetics, or something like that.
Before the nerf, the Sabre was used in almost every deck, now it appears occasionally, and Belphegor never drove aggro decks. Catacombs and Orpheus carried aggro decks before the balance master took control of the crafting; moreover, Catacombs can still be used in aggro decks (although aggro decks are garbage), while the balance master will be overkill. The same goes for Lyria and, to a lesser extent, the Carrot Emperor, who were and are being countered by almost everyone, except for Dis and the Roach. Many still consider Khavy to be in the "legendary-tier silvers" category, but he shone in the Oil League, and the Oil League didn't shine for long, unfortunately.

In modern Sword, I can still agree with Lumin.
It's always been funny with this card. A pathetic crutch for a pathetic Sword, which lacks normal mechanics and has to brute-force the opponent with a spam of evolutions.
Ah, judging by versatility, I agree with you about the Sabre, Bafich, and maybe even the Ferver. But I was talking about their importance for a specific deck. Without Belfigor, there wouldn't be Blood Vengeance; without Ozzy, Filth wouldn't be so overpowered, and so on.

Even before all these guys appeared, Aggro was doing great with the combination of Howl + Koko + Mimi, as far as I remember.

Yeah, during the recent second coming of Mid-Shadow, many also tried to use him, although he wasn't playing such an important role anymore. Also, in Haven, there's a class card for the Priest with a very similar mechanic, and it's an Epic (= Gold).
Nope. In the first few weeks, I was amazed by Aggroten, 1PP, 2PP, Catacombs, Orpheus, Cerberus, and Phantom Howl. Balance Lord became a x3 auto-include a bit later, and then Shadow became a bit tougher and more mid-range.
