It seems like we only recently finished the last season, and yet here is a new one :)
Greetings to all Heroes fans, potential participants, and supporters of the now-traditional "Новичок" tournament. I hope the new season will once again please us with great games and new discovery players

Requirements for participants:
1. Players who, in the organizer's opinion, have "outgrown" this tournament are not allowed to participate. That is, players who are already strong enough, including some participants of past seasons who showed good results
2. A tournament participant must have at least one game in the season according to HeroesWorld rules (see appendices) before May 15 (it is possible to play after registering). This is necessary to ensure that you can technically play online and have an understanding of World's rules. In separate cases, this criterion may be waived
3. Please note that by registering for the tournament, you must be prepared to play an average of one game per week.
4. The organizer has the right to refuse registration to anyone if they believe there are valid reasons, with an explanation of these reasons.
5. On any day of the last week of registration (May 8-14), you must message me via ICQ/PM regarding your readiness/unreadiness to play. This is to ensure there are no "dead souls" in the tournament

Below there will be a lot of official text, which is advisable to read, even though it may seem boring in some places. An unofficial wish of luck will come a bit later, once we gather :)

1. Organizational matters
The tournament is official and regular.

The tournament is based on the Rules for organization, conduct and participation in HOMM3 online tournaments, Online game rules for HoMM-III on HeroesWorld

2. Tournament dates - May 15 - September 1, 2010.
If necessary, the tournament will be extended until a winner is determined

3. Game version. The tournament is held on game version SoD 3.2(4.0), by mutual agreement TE 1.03q, TE Lite or WT

4. Awards
Based on the results of the tournament, a medal "Winner of Tournament 'Новичок-2010. Summer'" will be awarded under the winner's avatar

5. Rules. The tournament is conducted according to seasonal rules for template 2SM4d(3). During the tournament, the rules and regulations will NOT change
For other templates, the rules differ slightly; details are below

6. Group stage
Dates: May 15 - June 30, 2010
Template: by default 2SM4d(3).
By mutual agreement, a game can be played on any other template mentioned in the poll
System: round-robin

5 groups of 6 people have been formed, in which participants will play everyone once. 3 people from each group advance to the playoffs based on points scored. Additionally, the best among the remaining players will advance. I will determine the best player, trying to take all parameters into account. If this proves problematic, tie-breaker games are possible
Reports and confirmations are written in this thread; at the end of the group stage, they will be copied by me to the "Online game reports and confirmations. Summer-2010 Season" thread. That is, you do NOT need to duplicate reports in the season thread
Attention: technical results will be issued for all games not played on time. By default, rounds will NOT be extended

7. Draw and current results are in the second post.
You play rounds in any order, depending on your agreement with group mates. If you have the opportunity and desire - you can even play everything in a week and then wait for others' results

8. Playoffs
Dates: approximately July 1 - August 30, 2010
Template: by default 8mm6. By mutual agreement you may play 8mm6a, Jebus, Mini-Nostalgia
Here you will find all these templates with detailed descriptions and images. Recommended rule differences are also listed there. These differences are mandatory. For example, on 8mm6 you can use shifted etc.
System: Full Double Elimination
The system is similar to the Olympic one, but a player is eliminated after losing two times. An example can be seen in last season

9. Disputed points, if any arise, please discuss them outside the forum if possible; i.e., first contact the organizer via ICQ.
Disputed situations (rule violations, disconnects, suspicions of unfair play) are handled by the Academy of Martial Arts consisting of:

The judicial decision is made based on seasonal rules, basic logic, and behavioral ethics. In any non-standard situation, the organizer takes responsibility for making a fair decision.
In separate cases, I reserve the right to involve or not involve the AK (HeroesWorld Appeal Commission), as well as competent and authoritative online players. If you are not satisfied with the tournament organizer's decision (or if you do not trust him), you have the right to appeal to the AK yourself.
To resolve disputed situations, players provide daily saves and ICQ logs.

Reminder: the 3 people with the most points advance from the group.

First mark rule:
If an even number plays an odd number - the higher number marks first.
If two evens (or two odds) play - the lower number marks first.
Example: Group A, Yourdestiny and Shamanenok are playing. Numbers 2 and 6, both even, so the lower one marks, i.e., Yourdestiny

Playoffs

The default map is 8mm6.
With mutual agreement, you can play 8mm6a, Mini-Nostalgia, or Jebus.
In the first round, the player who goes first in a pair scratches off the top one.
Then, the right to go first will be determined by drawing lots and
marked with small ones.
Losers in the upper bracket fall into the lower bracket, where the game is played until elimination.





The winners of the brackets compete for the Medal.
Moreover, the finalist from the upper bracket only needs to win once,
but the winner from the lower bracket needs to win twice

8mm6 and 8mm6a

Differences in Rules
- Map settings: XL+U, 2 players + 6 computers.
- Restart due to slow paths. It is taken if at least one of the opponents wants it immediately after map generation.
- Allowed to move from respawn point to respawn point without breaking through a blocked guard.
- If a computer castle has an upgrade level 1, 6, or 7 in Conflux or level 4 in Necropolis, then upgrading your troops of these levels and hiring upgraded versions of creatures is prohibited. If a Necromancy Amplifier is built, vampire upgrades are prohibited, and additional skeletons do not need to be disbanded.
- Restart at the player's request if their only path leads to a treasure zone guard. This can be done on the day this fact is discovered, but no later than day 114.
- Restart at the player's request for a strong block that cannot be bypassed. The strength of the block is determined by mutual agreement between the players or by the judge. This can be done on the day this fact is discovered, but no later than day 113.
- Restart at the player's request if there is no road leading out of the castle (castle in an open field, a rare case). This can be done immediately after map generation.

Before you start playing mm6, go to the link http://www.cyberfight.ru/site/columns/56/article_56014/, read it carefully, and reread it if anything is unclear. You can even generate a couple of maps and, opening them, try to understand what is where. And then you will be happy.

Mini-Nostalgia

Differences in Rules
- Map settings: L+U, 2 players + 6 computers.
- Players choose computers one by one alternately. The blue player starts the selection. There should be no repetitions or matches with the players' castles. Before the game starts, the host assigns the selected castles to the computers.
- Allowed to run to neighboring respawn points past blocked guards (except for GO).

Jebus

Differences in Rules
Size XL-U, without computers.
- Restart at the player's request if their only path leads to GO. This can be done on the day this fact is discovered.
- Restart at the player's request if there is no road leading to the central treasure zone. This can be done on the day this fact is discovered.
- Restart due to slow paths. It is taken if at least one of the opponents wants it immediately after map generation.
- Using "Wings of Angel" and spells "Fly" and "Dimension Door" when moving from one zone to another is allowed only if the guard between them has been broken through.
- In case of buggy passages between zones, you can move to a neighboring zone only if GO has been broken through to the center from both zones.

Useful Info

To play with a specific template, simply place the corresponding text file in the Data folder, renaming it to rmg if necessary. An existing rmg can be temporarily renamed, for example, to rmg_cmka. Attached to the post is another file that combines the templates 2SM4d(3) and 8mm6. If you set the size to XL in the settings, 8mm6 will be generated; if L, then 2SM4d(3). Maybe someone will find it useful :)
