Still, I don't think splitting the forum is the solution. The problem of the hero-themed discussions fading into the background is due to the fact that this topic is not inexhaustible. Almost everything that can be discussed about the heroes has already been discussed, hence the small number of new topics (and those are mostly tournament-related). If a new user creates a topic, for example, "TACTICS FOR PLAYING AS THE SWAMP," the moderators close it and send him to a similar topic created about a year ago, which contains 15-20 pages of discussion (not everyone has the patience to read 15-20 pages, and after reading that much, they won't even want to write anything themselves). So, we are ending up with something that is more like a library about the heroes than a forum where people communicate about hero-related topics. In my opinion, such duplicate topics should not be closed – let new users discuss the issues that interest them (and the "experts" can offer some advice if they have the time), while the old-timers have already discussed everything a long time ago.

You're right about the "Heroes library" (I've encountered this "phenomenon" of our moderation myself and haven't received answers to the questions I needed), but I don't think the forum needs to be "split"; it just needs to be divided into sections within the subforums... Maybe it would make sense to create mini-sections to collect these duplicate topics when they appear?

I would still prefer to divide the forum into two parts. If the question is either/or. Without the flood, the forum will become like an encyclopedia. I like the chat and I enjoy communicating in it. I already have my own circle of communication and I don't want to give it up, and I don't know how to create maps and it doesn't appeal to me. Yes, there is a lot of off-topic in the topics, but the job of the moderators also implies fighting against it. If they can't handle it, then the issue of their competence needs to be addressed, and not the presence of off-topic in the topics. To put it simply, our forum is already divided into two sections!
The first section is for discussing normal, informative topics in the "What Fans of Heroes Love" section.
The second section is for various topics that don't relate to all the forum sections; this is the "FLOOD" section.
Recently, there's been a trend where many good topics that could be in the "What Fans of Heroes Love" section are appearing in the Flood section... Perhaps users are afraid of their topics being moved... I don't think there's any need to be afraid. If you create a topic that doesn't meet the requirements of the section, the moderators or we will move it to the appropriate section...
Many didn't understand my idea about creating a separate section. Yes, there is already some separation, but it doesn't prevent flooding. And if we create a subdomain where we move the non-themed sections and chat, it will allow us to moderate the main, "Heroes" forum more strictly. This will eliminate flooding and off-topic discussions. And it will be easier to monitor the off-topic section for flooding.
Still, most people tend to agree that changes are necessary. And something needs to be changed. The question is, what? I believe that we shouldn't make attracting new users our primary goal. It's much more important to make the already registered users more active in the Heroes community. Without destroying the existing community, we can make Heroes interesting again. And Grails could help with that, but they are still under development.
I voted for splitting the forum, but after reading all the posts, my opinion has changed. I believe that splitting the forum will negatively impact it. Introducing "Grails" should at least be considered as a means of encouragement (somehow, things tend to improve when something positive is offered as a reward :). And I have the feeling that the forum resembles an overgrown bureaucratic apparatus: everyone knows that everything needs to be changed and improved, but no one knows how. Unfortunately, I don't know either... :(

+1. There isn't much discussed in the section for the 4th game. We just need to put in some effort and come up with various situations, consider them, discuss them, and so on.
What if you create a subdomain, move the non-themed sections and chat there? This would allow for stricter moderation on the main, "Heroes" forum. And there wouldn't be as much spam and off-topic content. It would also be easier to monitor the off-topic section for spam.
