Favorites, to battle! - 8

For the eighth time, we will compete for our favorite castle, prove its strength, delight viewers with interesting games and unconventional combinations. In this tournament, each player immediately chooses a faction that they will play throughout the tournament.
The first such tournament took place in 2008.
Conflux and Necropolis have twice celebrated victory; once, Fortress, Castle, and Rampart were the best.
What will happen now?

I. General questions.
1. Throughout the tournament, each participant plays as their chosen favorite faction.
2. Game version SoD 3.2 (4.0) + HD mod + HW_rules_mod patch. The latest stable version is currently available: as of early December 2015, HD mod 4.0 RC33, HW_rules_mod 1.38.
3. Color in bracket tables – for the initial seeding. Colors change after each SUBJECTIVE restart.
4. The choice of template is made by crossing out one from the list of 9 templates: 2SM4d(3), Balance, skirmish (at 200% difficulty), Jebus cross, Mini-Nostalgia, Diamond, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, and Spider. The player marked with blue in the table starts eliminating a template.
By mutual agreement, it is permissible to play on any other template. This issue must be discussed beforehand with the tournament judges.
5. If there are two identical factions in a match, then the template is chosen from the list: 2SM4d(3), Balance, skirmish (at 200% difficulty), Jebus cross, Mini-Nostalgia, Diamond, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, Spider, mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1.
In this case, players bargain for the right to choose the starting hero. Players take turns (first, the one marked red in the table, then - blue) crossing out one undesirable hero from the full list; then, the players inform each other how much gold they are willing to transfer to their opponent for the right to make the first choice among the remaining heroes. The player who offers the larger amount chooses the hero first and transfers the gold to his opponent.
On the mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1 templates, each player has one subjective restart at 111.
Also, on the mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1 templates, players negotiate over color. The player who offers the larger amount chooses which color he will play as and transfers the gold to his opponent.
6. Standard rules apply.
The default timer is chess clock style, with parameters specified in the rules.
Any changes to the game rules are allowed by mutual agreement of the players, except for changing the Favorite Castle and the Fair Play rule.
Additional rules for templates:
Mini-Nostalgia. The participant marked with blue in the table begins choosing computer opponents' castles. When the color changes, the selection is not repeated; the castles chosen by the player remain his secondary choices.
Diamond. The participant marked red in the table removes an extra (ninth) castle. If the favorite castles are identical, then red first removes one castle, then blue - a second.

II. Organizational questions.
1. This tournament is official and regular.
2. Tournament goals:
- to play as your favorite faction and try to prove its strength,
- to gain valuable experience and improve your gameplay.
3. The tournament is held according to the Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in tournaments.
4. Players listed on the Blacklist and Penalty Bench are not allowed to participate in the tournament.
5. Tournament hosts and judges: Pit for LM (ICQ: 471401475) and
KobRa_RR (ICQ: 286406830).
If it is impossible to resolve a controversial issue independently, the judges will seek help from the AC.
The host has the right to make any changes to the regulations and rules during the tournament if necessary.
6. For each played match, participants must submit a report and confirmation in this thread, created automatically.
Saves of all matches must be saved until the end of the tournament and presented upon first request by the tournament host or any member of the AC.
7. Information about the progress of the tournament is updated as needed and is located at the beginning of this thread.
8. All games of the tournament go into the seasonal rating. The list of tournament reports is also located at the beginning of this thread.
9. The winner of the tournament and players who took 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded Medals under their avatar:

Award authors: RAPER and ColdRain.

III. Deadlines.
All participants in the tournament must strictly adhere to the announced deadlines:
1. Immediately after the start of the next stage or round, contact your opponents for preliminary arrangements for the games. Agreeing means reaching an agreement after negotiations and discussion. An offer without a response will not be considered an agreement.
2. Any temporary problems (with internet access, travel plans, personal matters) must be reported to the tournament hosts.
3. The preferred time for tournament games is daytime (12-24 Moscow time) on weekends and evening (19-24 Moscow time) on weekdays. If a participant cannot play at this time, the absence of a game result will be interpreted by the host in favor of his opponent.

Registration - October 25 – November 24, 2015.
Approval of the list of participants - November 25-29, 2015.
Bracket generation - November 30, 2015. The bracket will be generated taking into account the declared faction and the player's skill level based on the results of other tournaments.
Start of the tournament - December 1, 2015.

IV. Regulations.
The regulations will be determined after the end of registration, depending on the number of participants.
A standard format is planned: group stage and Full Double Elimination.

Winners of previous "Favorites, to battle!" tournaments:

"Favorites, to battle! - 1" (2008) - Dudge (Necropolis) - Tournament history

Picked Ivor at start,he brought me 9 elves,I also got elf and tree dwelling so I had 23 grand elves day 2 onward.Made Jabarkas main,he got log and earth magic.Spotted earth tome day 2 guarded by horde demons, but it was in opponent's treasure so I avoided contact with him for 5 days.I killed horde water elementals day 4 for +6 sword, lots diamond golems for fire ball, orange town taken.Rushed to opp at 116,but it wasnt well executed and I forgot to leave pegasi on main army,so Gelare killed 12 grand elves with arrow, then gurnisson came with 22 airs,2 physics,6 water,25 pixie army and ballista.I had 9 elves,2 unicorns,6 trees,40 centaurs. Thanks to 14 attack I managed to kill ballista and it was a very close fight,I survived with 2 trees.Managed to hold the town and kill remaining scouts nearby, then I took earth tome 121 with 3 unicorns,19 elves and the rest of army bought.Went to dungeon with TP,attacked opponents army at 122 and he gives up.Spasibo za igru.

It gave a rich respawn and built-up air units, peppers + Grindan as the 2nd hero. On the 1st, I took the green Castle, spotted the Griffin Conservatory and boots in the adjacent zone, and clues with a sword +2 +2 on my own respawn, birds at home in the citadel. On the 2nd, Luna arrived, and the game split into 3 fronts: Luna with an angel (from the 1st's Griffin Conservatory) went to a treasure zone with a village, another scout with Castle meat went further from the computer along the road, and Lacus went toward the pink computer and one more treasure zone with a village. Luna found a bunch of Naga banks and 2 Griffin Conservatories, the scout with Castle meat reached the portal leading to the opponent's computer, and Lacus collected hives and Pandoras for 15 gr. minotaurs and 25 gr. eyes. By the end of the 2nd, angels were in the Castle, birds at home in the Castle. The Dragon Utopia wasn't visible, my own super-treasure zone was far away and on the snow, so I decided to go to the opponent; the power indicator showed them as stronger. Lacus with 3900 mp very quickly reached the opponent's main castle, and there was an untaken Dragon Utopia. I take it, 2nd level, they give wings. On their turn, the opponent surrenders: both armies and stats were lower. Thanks for the game.

Dear players, I know that there are still 10 days left until the deadline, but 1.5 months were given for 2 games, and the absence of signals/results in the table by 01/15/2016 on your part will be considered a lack of desire to continue participating in this tournament and will automatically lead to a more selective approach to your applications for new tournaments in the future.

The waiting list of players who want to be substituted will be published later. Thank you for your attention.

Group E: flate - 1 game.
I played with everyone else at the beginning of the tournament, but this guy, flate, just doesn't want to play. I've messaged him many times over the past month, but either he ignores me or gives the standard response that he's in the game. I'm tired of chasing him; let him find someone else. I won't be able to play for a while due to a move.

Thanks for the game.
I was left without resurrections, the start was average—on the first week I killed my own Tower and Conflux—in the latter I unfortunately didn't even have time to place Psychic Elementals. I rode to the last Rampart computer, but realized I wouldn't make it by week 1 day 7—I transferred the army to defend the external dwelling of horses at my native respawn. I broke through the unexpectedly strong guard (Minotaurs), but clearly couldn't paint the external dwelling itself—I only did it on day 21. With the second hero I was taking Skeletons at the Conflux respawn, while the secondary Necromancer rode toward the Rampart. Wokia broke into the underground, where there was an immediate block of up to 99 Grand Elves—nothing to take them with yet. The insolent Rampart scout thrashed my Necromancer, who had about 70 Blue Gremlins and a few Gargoyles for cover—I had to go there. Riding to the Rampart—I was stunned: there was a castle, Galthran sitting with 70 Skeletons, 14 Wood Elves, Ettins, Dwarves, and Centaurs... :( The auto-combat said pass, I only got out of there with the horses, all the Skeletons were killed by the towers  and that was only because I cunningly forced the gates to open in round 2.
So what do we have: from the overviews of all respawns we see 1 Hive and a treasure box, no Skeletons and 5 horses in the army on day 25 with no clear game plan. The opponent reveals Angels in the Den of Thieves and 20+ Wyverns on a mule, visible from the overview. :o Although I initially thought it was worse—since all the opponent's computers are alive.
I start farming Skeletons at the Rampart respawn; at the start of the third week I brought the growth and took 4 Wyverns, plus a treasure box for 10 experience from Bears, then dove into the underground. There seemed to be some Hives there... However, the army was depleted, and what trickles in gets spent. Also, the Sharpshooters refused to run from the guard of the club for an attack—80 Skeletons... I fought very badly against Chaos Hydras for a box and a Hive, thought they were regular Hydras—auto-combat said pass again—but I pulled through, losing a significant part of my power—I had to fight them for passage. Around the end of the third week, Alkin flew in through the Town Portal and landed in Necropolis, then hung around and reached the Rampart. I quickly reclaimed both the capital and the Rampart through clever chains, and Alikin—seeing he wasn't welcome there—flew back where he came from.
On the fourth week there were still some minor blunders, sometimes I fought without artifacts (forgot them on the mule), sometimes with the wrong hero. Nevertheless, Wokia leveled up nicely to level 24 with Attack, Tactics, Earth, Defense, Logistics, Wisdom. He pounded with the Ballista like hell, plus I recovered the Golden Bow. The treasure box gave all the Earth spells. The two Necromancers weren't far behind either. Finally I started moving through the underground without fear, though I wasn't ready for the final showdown yet. I think I took a mediocre Dragon Utopia...
On the fifth week I had to buy off Alkin, fortunately he was without Shackles, and I had nothing to field against 100 Monarchs with combat stats of 25 and 42. Plus I had no mana left for Implosion. I rode through Conflux into another underground—there was little of interest, 2 external dwellings of Necropolis horses, a bunch of other external dwellings, 2 Hives; I took a Dragon Utopia with a Red Book and a Blue Hat. Alkin is hot on my heels with full control, but there seems to be no logistics there... I think I teleported through a wall into another treasure zone and took a Dragon Utopia with an Earth Book.
On the sixth week I went through Tower into yet another treasure zone. There was +2 HP, +2 speed, a Hive; I sat down to replenish mana. Then I aimed for a Dragon Utopia (which gave a Pendant) and wanted to teleport into the opponent's uncleaned treasure zone—visible from the replay and partially from the overview. But I guess they spotted me from the replay, and Alkin teleported through a wall into the darkness—this time with Shackles. And my army was on the move.
I played poorly; I had chances. The opponent had a clearer and more dynamic plan—3 Hives and 2 Griffin Conservatories at the native respawn provide development certainty.
Thanks for the game! :smile44:

The Rivendell skirmishes ended with the green dragon not turning away from the true elves in the first week, which greatly helped in developing the forest empire.
Thank you for the game!
The dragon has nothing to do with it:D. There, Moner had the artifact from the start, but my heroes weren't offered it. This resulted in a 600 MP tempo disadvantage each day, accumulating to about 12,000 MP, which is roughly equivalent to 6 days of gameplay:( "Z" - mirror, "B" - balance:) They covered everything in balance:( Plus, credit must be given to the opponent. He played well, implemented his strategy effectively, and deservedly won. GG! Thank you for the game!
