"only XL-2"

Greetings to all fans of "XL" templates! This tournament is just for you:smile20:

I. Rules and Templates.

1. The rules are standard. The tournament will be held using the SoD 3.2 (4.0) + HD-mod version of the game.
2. XL templates: 8mm6a, 8хм12а, 6LM10a, 8xm8a, Spider.
3. Template selection is standard; Red starts first, with Blue making the final choice.
4. Castle selection is done by poll in a standard manner; Blue starts first. After restart, the color does not change (by mutual agreement, Random can be chosen, with resource selection and color swap).
5. Total number of restarts (113), i.e., 111+111+111, 111+112, 113
6. Time limit per turn with chess timer - 21:00+08:00+01:15
7. Roads are medium and fast
8. The time for one game is 2 weeks

II. Regulations

Stage 1 – Group Stage

16 groups of 6 players each. Two players from each group advance to the next stage, based on the highest score.
In case of equal scores, places are determined according to additional criteria (in order of priority):
1. Berger coefficient.
2. Head-to-head result.
3. Points scored in a game "weigh" more than technical defeats.
4. If it is impossible to determine who advances to the playoffs based on previous criteria, players will be offered a scheme for tiebreaker games. At this time, it is impossible to foresee all possible combinations of results. Therefore, the final scheme will be developed based on the situation that arises in the groups at the end of the stage.

Round 1: February 14 - February 27
Round 2: February 28 - March 13
Deadline for 2 games: March 15
Round 3: March 14 - March 27
Round 4: March 28 - April 10
Deadline for 4 games: April 12
Round 5: April 11 - April 24
Deadline for 5 games: April 26
RESERVE, voting for the playoff bracket: April 25 - April 28
Playoff draw: April 27 - April 28
Vacation: April 29 - May 8, CIS-2015

Attention!!! Failure to play the required number of games (report the played games) by the deadline results in disqualification, except for vacation or valid reasons, provided that you inform the organizers about the reason in advance.

In the group stage, each player can take a two-week break; notify the tournament organizers in advance (before the start of the round), with the obligation to play the games before the next deadline.

Victory – 3 points; defeat – 0; draw – 1 point (counted at Stage 211+ at the discretion of the organizers)

Players who have already advanced to the playoffs should send me two answers to the question in ICQ:
1. Template selection
a) Template selection is done in a standard manner.
b) Random template selection (specify preferences: coin toss once for template selection or every time after restart).
1. Castle Selection
a) Castle selection is done in a standard manner.
b) Castles are selected randomly, with color change after restart.
P.S. Please do not just write "1a 2b," but provide a complete answer. All voting results will be posted on the forum..

Stage 2 – Olympic Tournament

32 players, random distribution, 1st place and 2nd from the groups.
Changes to the rules based on the voting results:Random castle selection, with bonus selection and color swap.

Round 1 1/16 May 9 - May 22
Round 2 1/8 May 23 - June 5
Round 3 1/4 June 6 - June 19
Round 4 1/2 June 20 - July 3
Round 5 FINAL up to 2 wins July 4 - July 31; August 14

III. Organizational Issues

1. The tournament starts on February 13, 2015 (processing of the poll for castle selection, determination of the final regulations of the tournament, draw of groups)
2. The tournament is official
3. The tournament is held according to Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in online HOMM3 tournaments
4. Tournament host, organizational issues – Scorpiona (ICQ 469326983), Nitro (ICQ 627769385) – organizational issues.
5. Tournament judge – Dirty_Player (ICQ 408722873)
6. Organizers reserve the right to refuse participation in the tournament to a user without publicly explaining the reasons.
7. The winner of the tournament will receive a medal under their avatar.

We started without rests. "Why rest?" I thought. The respawn is in the top corner, with a decent amount of money. At 111, Aislin took Earth (though later I couldn't actually expert Necromancy for a long time). There are Septienna, Izra, Vidomina, Dessa, and Solmir. Everything seemed fine. At 112, I saw Kirry there + noticed that he had double. But I also scouted the external market — which I decided to play around with. It turned out the opponent had two elf external dwellings from the start, and Kirry was leveling up great. Aislin's build was so-so. Hirolvai played the late game excellently, but if I had KS or Shackles or Dimension Door, I would have most likely won. Thanks for the game!

The Satyr-Mareti match is extended until the end of the weekend, June 21st. The match is in its late stages, but Satyr has disappeared in recent days... we're waiting for him, and if necessary, we'll post the result on Monday.

Good start with good skills on alkin plus could work with ciele to get boots and gloves. We had some early contact but none of us were interested in rushing opponent. Went to t-area and got a couple of good arts, but it was small and I quickly got out of it again.

Went to new t-area and started making skells since i had 25% arts. This t-area was bigger but not very good and I still hadnt seen a tope. I lacked control badly but went to new area where I saw a tope. Tope was nice and gave HH but still no control. I built 4 guilds but they gave nothing. Now opponent came and started taking my towns, but I saw a new tope and finally i got air book. It was last minute cause next day opponent rushed me with a huge army, but I could DD away into safty.

I could get the Health combo and unite my armies. Had 9 hydras, 20 angels, close to 100 wyverns, 1 k skells and more. Took my town back and upgraded wyverns. Went towards a Castle town but opponent sat in town so I kept outside. My stats were clearly better but hard to kill 3+k skells with a destroyed catapult.

I went into unexplored area while opponent took some towns back. I had the mana combo but forgot to put it on so I ended 1 day with 14 mana. This was a mistake that could have cost dearly, but it turned out to be an advantage. Opponent saw this and left the Castle town thinking I couldnt reach it, but I had the mana combo on and could take it. Could upgrade my 20 angels which led to opponent giving up. TFP.

I played really bad and didn't deserve any chances to win. Spasibo za igru!

I played this game terribly and couldn't count on a positive outcome.
However, it should be noted that two water books, two pairs of resistance boots, and a full set of gold sacks from 5 utopias ultimately led to an amazing difference in combat stats, even though Mr. Maretti only captured two utopias. Unheard of unfairness with a predictable result.

The opponent asked me to write a report, since pass in Russian didn't give him the opportunity to watch the game:
So, we started by choosing all restarts, it didn't deal well for either of us, once I got Conflux but the opp restarted, then some nonsense came in the form of a Pike-Efreet with 5 Gargoyles and the like...
In the end, a lucky draw. I got a scout hero with 3 Grandmasters, all heroes are weak but there is one Necro, I decide to level him up, after a while I dug up a couple more Necros, Clavius became the main one, I dug him up on 113 and he leveled up not very well at first.
Very unlucky that my zone where the exit to the treasure zone and to the computer was flooded. I run to the other side, there's a portal, on the second I emerged into the treasure zone and started raising bones...as it turned out - necromancy saved the situation, since on all the territory I scouted there were only 2 Dragon Fly Hives with 10 Wyverns and 1 mini Griffin Conservatory. With what I raised, I started delving into 3 max Cyclops dwelling stacks, where they hit hard, but I built 4 Mage Guilds on 125 or so, where there was Town Portal.
The roads were average and the pace suffered a lot, then for the entire third week I started hitting Utopias, there were 3 of them, terrible luck in them, and out of 3 Utopias (3, 1, 1), the only useful thing was a Red Orb.
The 3rd Utopia I had to break with a weak hero because the main hero didn't have the 100 MP to reach it and the opp was nearby...in the end, after 3 Utopias, my army had 130 Skeletons and 3 Red Dragons left (I collected Drakes from 2 caches and a portal) and built a Dungeon from scratch up to Dragons!
On 141 the opp finishes off the remnants of my army and I buy my way out...then again bad luck, my super treasure zone turns out to be the size of a Stalker's one-turn move, there's 1 Dragon Fly Hive))) and 3 caves)) which were guarded by masses:D
Nowhere to run, I decide to take a risk, run and capture the opp's village and from there into his treasure zone...there I did some good necromancing and found the long-awaited control!!! besides the main one, I have 2 well-leveled Necro heroes - Tamika and Sandro.
With their help I raised 1400+ Skeletons by the time of the Final Battle, assembled AotD and good chances for the game appeared. But probably due to fatigue I make a big mistake - namely, I left 200 MP to teleport home but needed 300 MP, because my Clavius didn't have Earth Magic maxed. As a result, the army is split into 2 parts - in one part are the Dungeon shooters, Wyverns, and Dragons (12 of them) and on Clavius 20 Cerberi, 5 Angels, and 1400+ Skeletons...the opp reaches the Dungeon with all his might, kills one of my good Necros, the second with the Dragons fought back - lost 10 Reds but killed 4 Fire Birds and 56 Air Elementals...then Tamika attacks Clavius and gets hit by AotD...a big problem was the Vial of Life...Tamika has 3 Birds, 4 Angels, 40 Water Elementals, 14 Telepaths, 1900+ Skeletons, 6 Mages...I took out everyone except the Angels and Skeletons, I had 3 Angels left and started cutting down enemy Skeletons, but the advantage in stats, Vial, and the 500 Skeleton difference decided it. I surrendered!
The opponent is great, good luck in the final!!!

To say that this was an easy win would be an understatement. It's almost embarrassing to win so easily. If Bishop wants a rematch, I'm willing to play up to 2 more games, as I told him right after the match. Thanks for the game!

Got pretty good start but lacked money and wasnt able to exspand very much early on. Hack got good skills but lacked speed. I had one tope and could take it early week 3. It was very good and gave blue hat and bliss. I could double mana and went to t-area in swamp but it was pretty empty. Then I went towards opponnet thinking I was stronger, I saw a con and a couple of boxes in his areas I wanted to take.

I came to close and was attacked. He had much better army but I had better stats and a 1350 implo. Mistakes were made on both sides, but I was lucky his resistance and 3 to luck and moral didnt give much. I should have summond elementals or surrendered but he didnt take advantage of his blind, so in the end I did enough damage for him to give up. TFP.

The opponent asked me to write up a report because the Russian-language save didn't let him review the game:
So, we started by taking all the restarts, the deals for both of us were mediocre, once I got a conflict but the opp restarted there, then some junk showed up like a PieDrake with 5 gargoyles and the like...
In the end a deal came my way. A loser hero with 3 grandlies showed up, all the heroes were weak but there was one necro, so I decided to level him; after a while I dug up a couple more necros, the main one became Clavius, I unearthed him on 113 and he leveled on the first day so-so.
I was very unlucky that my zone, where the exit to the treasure and to the AI was, got flooded. I ran the other way, there was a portal, on day 2 I popped out into the treasure and started stacking bones... as it turned out, necromancy saved the situation, because across all the territory I scouted there were only 2 dwellings of 10 pixies and 1 mini conlux. With what I'd stacked I started climbing into 3 maxi cyclops caves, where they beat me up pretty good, but on the plus side I built 4 GMs on 125 or so, where the TP was.
The roads were middling and the tempo really suffered, then for the whole third week I started hitting utopias, of which there were 3, and inside them was wild bad luck - out of 3 utopias (3, 1, 1) the only useful thing was the red orb.
I had to break the 3rd utopia with a loser hero because the main hero was 100mp short of reaching it while the opp was right there... in the end after 3 utopias the army I had left was 130 skeletons and 3 red dragons (I'd stacked the dragons in 2 stashes and a portal) and I rebuilt a Dungeon from scratch all the way up to dragons!
On 141 the opp finishes off the remnants of my army and I buy myself off... then again misfortune: my super-treasure turns out to be the size of one straker move, with 1 dwelling))) and 3 caves)) guarded by crowds :D
There's nowhere to run, so I decide to take a risk: I run, capture the opp's village, and from there into his treasure... there I necroed nicely and found the long-awaited control!!! Besides the main hero there are 2 well-leveled necros - Tamika and Sandro.
With their help I stacked 1400+ skeletons by the time of the FB, assembled the Armor of the Damned, and good chances to win the game emerged. But probably already out of fatigue I made a big mistake - namely I left 200 mp to break home when I needed 300, because my Clavius hadn't leveled Earth. As a result the army got split in two - one part with the Dungeon shooters (pixies) and the dragons (12 of them), and on Clavius 20 cerberi, 5 angels, and 1400+ skeletons... The opp reaches the Dungeon with his full might, kills one of my good necros, the second one with the dragons fought back - I lost 10 reds but killed 4 firebirds and 56 air elementals... then Tamika attacks Clavius and walks into the Armor of the Damned... the big problem became the Vial of Life... Tamika had 3 birds, 4 angels, 40 water elementals, 14 psychics, 1900+ skeletons, 6 mages... I took down everything except the angels and the skeletons, I had 3 angels left and started chopping through the enemy skeletons, but the advantage in stats, the vial, and a 500-skeleton lead decided it. I surrendered!
The opponent did great, good luck in the final!!!
Because Gomunguls uses a Russian password, I couldn't open the save, so I can only write the battle report from memory:
The starting area was very poor; building stopped at 111, and in the first week I abandoned the main town's troop reserve and built a council. Fortunately, in the first week I captured the Conflux town, and then luck kept coming: in the second week I got a scroll of Skeleton-transforming magic, reducing skeleton losses and letting me quickly clear the passages guarded by strong neutrals.
Development went as planned - in the second week I built firebirds, and in the third week a level-5 mage guild came up. Too bad the level-5 spell was Sacrifice, but level 4 had Armageddon. Firebirds + Armageddon was supposed to be a perfect combo, but on 136, due to my own mistake, Gomunguls snatched a utopia that had a red orb in it, which meant I could never pull this tactic off, and the game dragged on because of it.
I leveled a lot of strong heroes - dessa and gunar and several others with Logistics - so my expansion was very fast. The 5 AIs were wiped out quickly, and as a result my economy was extremely strong, peaking at 18000g/Day. This powerful economy went almost entirely into strategy execution and map expansion, so I held a huge amount of map information and effectively limited Gomunguls's room to maneuver.
But I only ever found two utopias, and Gomunguls stole one of them. The one I did get gave me an Air magic book, an Earth magic book, and a 5lv cap (though I already had TP, and with my resources being very plentiful, a few towns would surely give me Fly or Jump).
Because Gomunguls had a red orb, I needed a powerful army to defeat him, so mid-game I paid close attention to stacking skeletons, eventually reaching 1700+, which laid the foundation for victory. But Gomunguls was also extremely tough - not only did he have the Skeleton artifact, he could also recruit all the Necropolis heroes, so the skeleton specialty, the necromancy specialty, and so on all worked for him. So in this battle, every Necropolis hero made an appearance. In the end Gomunguls's skeleton count reached 1300+, and his army was very strong, because he had two red dragon dwellings and built red dragons and a summoning portal.
Both sides' armies stayed balanced throughout; the tavern showed each side as stronger or weaker at different times, and neither exposed the whereabouts of their army. But Gomunguls, after all, controlled a small area, and his main hero had no Air magic and was eager to learn it in my Conflux town, so in the end he tried to force his way into my territory!
Ambush! On the final turn, I pulled off a very beautiful but also extremely risky ambush!
Grabbing the treasure: I took life+2 and successfully assembled the Vial of Life.
The attack: a secondary hero took the troops and flew to his Dungeon, wearing a Cape of Silence, with 3 angels and 5 firebirds plus Air and Water elementals, and attacked his powerful second hero who had 10+ red dragons. This fight was extremely dangerous - my hero had no Air magic, and the terrain was split in the middle. Luckily it was dirt, so skeletons got +1 speed; otherwise the outcome would definitely have been Gomunguls burning through 200+ mana and my entire army except skeletons dying!
Disintegration: Gomunguls's ability to develop heroes was also astonishing - several of his Necropolis heroes could town-gate, fly and jump and had Logistics - but on the final turn they were all wiped out by me, and on the last day, two of the slain Necropolis heroes popped up in my tavern!
The final battle: a perilous final battle. Attacking recklessly without scouting the opponent first almost made me collapse:
His main army, while only 1300+ skeletons, 5 angels, and 20+ split cerberi, was actually equipped with a red orb and a Cursed Armor (though it also dropped his main hero's attack/defense substantially). My army was 4 angels, 4 firebirds, 30+ water elementals split into 3 stacks, 3 mages, and 1700+ skeletons.
The battle: all my troops got cursed by the armor, my shooters and firebirds died one after another at the hands of his angels. My skeletons had speed 2, his had 5, but my last 3 angels had speed 6, and his skeleton stack couldn't attack my angels either. His remaining 3 angels and 7 cerberi couldn't kill a single 250-life, self-healing angel of mine either, so the battlefield stalemated. Because I was the attacker, a prolonged stalemate would rule me as having fled and lost. So both sides paused - Gomunguls must have asked about the rules and confirmed that the Cursed Armor's effect lasts 50 turns, after which its mana wears off and his entire army would die. In the end his angels proactively attacked my skeleton stack to bait the retaliation, and his skeleton stack followed up, but only chipped 200+ off me; sensing that the tide of battle had turned, and with the off-field position being even worse - fewer towns, fewer troops, fewer generals - he laid down his arms and surrendered!
Still, had I lost this final battle, with his 1300+ skeletons still around, I'd have had full confidence in slowly gathering strength and beating him again, because I had a powerful economy, 8+ fast Logistics heroes (5 of them Necropolis), and a vast territory that Gomunguls simply couldn't occupy. Besides, I had already visited more than half the Obelisks on the map and was confident I could dig up the ultimate artifact within 3 days!
thx for good game!
