The show tournament by twaryna is still ongoing, and it's already clear that the version has turned out to be quite playable. Some minor edits are still possible, but overall, the gameplay will not change in the foreseeable future.

Therefore, we are starting an open HotA tournament.

Game information and download links are here - http://vk.com/h3hota.

Game version: HotA 1.3.8 + HDmode.

Template: chosen by lot from Jebus, Mini-Nostalgia, Diamond, 8mm6a, 6lm10a.

Castles: all games are played in the Wharf vs Wharf format; one player chooses the color, and the other player chooses the starting hero first.

Timer - standard for ХВ rules, but battle time is 2 minutes (with unfamiliar troops, more thinking is required during combat).
Jebus - 24+8:30+2
Diamond - 19+8+2
Mini-Nostalgia - 19+8+2
8mm6a - 21+8+2
6lm10a - 21+8+2

Roads - fast for Jebus and medium for other templates.

Restarts - 3 days in total (+objective restarts due to blocks, bugs, or encounters).

Red-rush is allowed.

Other rules correspond to the HotA show tournament rules

Tournament format - Swiss system with elimination after 2 losses. Each round is played as a best-of-one (bo1). Time per round - 3 weeks.

Rules may be clarified later, as some nuances might have been missed the first time. In case of a disputed or doubtful situation, it is recommended to contact the judge immediately. That is, do not abuse discovered bugs.

Players have the right to agree on any changes in the rules except for the game version.

Each participant must pass qualification - play at least one full online game in HotA. This is to ensure that you have installed the software correctly and understand the game rules. Players who participated in the show tournament or have game reports for HotA in the season are exempt from qualification.

Register here, specifying ICQ/Skype. Start as soon as a quorum is reached.

UPDATE

Regarding the tournament start dates - 3 weeks are given for registration and qualification, meaning the draw for the 1st round will be on 24.04.2015

Players may independently agree on tournament games ahead of the bracket. For this, players must have an equal number of wins/losses. The fact of agreement should be reported to me before the start of the game via a forum post or ICQ message. Independent games that were not reported before the draw of the corresponding round are considered null and void.

Anyone who wants to start already can find an opponent for the 1st round themselves and play against them. Early games may be counted as qualification if bo3 (best-of-3) is played.

Final:

Maretti vs YaR

To win the tournament, Maretti only needs to win once, while YaR must win twice.

UPDATE

Since the starting confusion has ended, we will play more orderly from the 2nd round onwards.

1) Players who do not meet the round deadline (regardless of whose fault), will play in the next round with a debuff - their opponent may choose both the color and the hero.

Exceptions are possible at the discretion of the organizer. For example, if players reported difficulties in advance (within one week from the start of the round).

Therefore, I recommend not waiting until the last day, but agreeing and starting to play immediately.

2) Private messages from the organizer should be answered within 3 days. The same applies to public messages with any requests. Lack of reaction is interpreted against the player.

For example, if in response to a private message "How is the round 2 game going?", one of the players replied (regardless of what), and the second remained silent, then in the absence of a result, a technical victory will be awarded to the first.

3) If a player withdraws from the tournament or is disqualified, their slot is passed in order of queue to players who have already been eliminated from the tournament. Priority is given to those who progressed further, and if they reached the same distance - to whoever played earlier.

Therefore, I recommend agreeing and playing subsequent rounds before their official start.

Something feels off... the presence of flexibility in the draw doesn't negate the old, good formalism and legal precision in applying the rules. Regarding the game between MikeM and Stomper: after the official draw was introduced, all changes are made only through the referee. The withdrawal of player TwinkieThecake from the tournament must be confirmed by him, or he must remain silent for several days after the referee contacts him. Therefore, we will do the following: if TwinkieThecake appears and states that he did not withdraw from anywhere (even if the game logs prove otherwise), then the aforementioned game will be annulled, and we will proceed according to the draw. If he does not appear, the game will be counted as played. But this is the last such episode; in the future, games that contradict the official draw without prior agreement with the referee will be annulled. Regarding the game between Pit for LM and RozenKran: judging by the tone of the report, it is presented as a game from the first round; however, RozenKran deleted the post with his registration in the tournament and also does not have a qualifying game. As a result, the aforementioned game is either a friendly match or a qualifier for RozenKran (depending on how the fact of deleting the post is interpreted). We ask the participants of the game to clarify their position on this issue.

Therefore, we will do the following: if TwinkieThecake appears and claims that he did not cheat (even if the logs prove otherwise), then the game will be annulled, and we will proceed with a random draw.

If he doesn't appear, the game will be considered valid.

This situation means that my position in the tournament bracket is unclear, and I cannot continue playing until the situation with TwinkieThecake is clarified, which I was not even aware of. I would really like to play more tournament games while I have some free time.

According to my draw with TwinkieThecake: I asked him to post in the tournament thread on the same day about withdrawing.
The withdrawal of player TwinkieThecake must be confirmed by him, or he must remain silent for several days after the judge contacts him. Therefore, we will do the following: if TwinkieThecake appears and states that he did not withdraw from anywhere (even if the logs prove otherwise), then the specified game will be canceled, and we will play according to the draw. If he does not appear, the game will be counted as a win.
Until what date will we wait for him to appear?

The opponent asked if I wanted to do some rolling. I figured I’d have plenty of time to play with the Cove and offered my Inferno against any of the opponent’s towns (aiming to roll on mini-nosta, or at the very least 8mm6a). Ended up rolling mini-nosta, with Castle, Rampart, and Dungeon as the computers (reminder – we’re playing as Inferno :D ). One plan – don’t meet the opponent. At all. Overwhelm with the authority of hundreds of demons :smile08: . In reality, it turned out... not quite according to plan)

On the first day, I feared a trick from the generator at every step, but everything seemed perfect. An external dwelling for Gogs, Loga-Earth as first skills, immediately guessed the computer – Castle, didn’t reach the castle by 1 move, of course, but the computer only managed to place a weak hero on 1 Griffin and didn’t build the Citadel.

I ran out to Rampart immediately on 114 by re-splitting into the external tavern. Though the Castle’s main hero came back, and I had to waste a turn with my main while the army ran to defend the castle. Didn’t reach Rampart either, and the computer had the chance to hole up with all its main force in the Citadel, but instead it decided to wander off somewhere and just plop down a Citadel in an empty town. I was totally fine with that. Turns out the computer had upgraded Dendroids built on the first day... 0_o

By the end of the first week, I had captured the two strongest towns, building tier 1-6 without Pits in Castle (there was an external dwelling for Pits, but I decided I’d get by with demons for the first three weeks; in the end, I never got around to the external dwelling for the whole game).

On the second week, the plan was simple – take the visible Red Tower, use birds to grab the Pit external dwelling behind the Cyclopes, there was some kind of Griffin Conservatory visible too, and then – the treasure zone. But chains were placed awkwardly and not on pace, so in the end we didn’t get the Pits, gold ran out early, and one step from the treasure zone I decided to throw away my army on a stack of Gorgons (which at an average count of 39 turned out to be 45 with a grand stack). Still, I don’t fully understand how Kalk with Expert Archery and 62 Gogs can lose to a stack of some damn Gorgons. A special, street-level skill. As a final touch in that fight, I finished off my own Firebird with splash damage, conveniently forgetting they don’t have fire immunity. In the end I lost 4 demons and the bird, plus half a day of tempo and a ton of morale. I have no idea why I even went for them. They weren’t guarding anything special, just standing off the road... Pure XP greed – hadn’t gotten level-ups in a while and wanted some smack in the face.

By the end of the second week, things were pretty bad – no money, few demons, only one big Griffin Conservatory among the objects, which I had no way to take. Earth expertise was maxed out, but Slow still hadn’t appeared across three respawns (spoiler: I found Slow on the fourth week in the fifth or sixth built guild). On 126 I took two Pandora’s Boxes along the road nearby... One gave all Air Magic, the other maybe all fourth-level or all fifth-level. Yes, yes – Wisdom, of course, wasn’t there.

At the start of the third week, the treasure finally yielded some Dragon Fly Hives, an Efreet external dwelling, and a Dragon Utopia. Decided to migrate Magogs over for lack of anything better; everything around was contact-based anyway.
On 135, with 60 demons and 20 ducks, we broke the first low-tier Dragon Utopia. Finally got to buy up, brought over the main force, and demon production started picking up. Behind the 10-19 Giants, a suspicious scroll was found – which turned out to be a Town Portal. Things got even more lively. Using TP, we collected all the goodies around the towns and entered the second treasure zone. First thing we ate there... Another Town Portal scroll. And one Dragon Fly Hive. And that was pretty much it – that’s the whole treasure zone in accessible radius. The opponent already has Titans glowing and great stats.

Had to go to the third computer through forests, mountains, rivers, fences. A hero with 3k movement points needed three days just to get from my respawn to the Pink player. Along the way we grabbed the native low-tier Dragon Utopia. But in Pink’s zone (who, remember, is Orange’s brother), we were immediately rewarded with a Dragon Utopia containing the Speaker’s Hat and the Sword of Justice... Well, it’s obvious who you need to go to for the chocolate fillings... :smile54:

With full control, things got really fun. On the 4th week, Angels were built in Castle, all the awkward Griffin Conservatories were taken, and demons started farming at accelerated tempos. On 146, I finally learned Slow :smile41:. When there was nowhere left to run, I got bold and peeked via Dimension Door into the treasure zone right under the opponent’s nose. Didn’t manage to steal much from there before the opponent showed up, but I found Labetha in a prison with Expert Earth and tons of mana. That second Town Portal scroll came in handy. On 147, I finally upgraded the Archers.

At the start of the second month, I snatched two Cyclops stockpiles from under the opponent’s nose in another treasure zone and was preparing to dive via DD into Pink’s treasure... But then the opponent decided it was time to ramp up in that treasure zone I’d just escaped from. TP-DD-hello. Through Mass Haste, I managed to grab almost all the main force on the weak hero and almost all the ducks on my main. Time for a showdown. Turns out there was an Elixir, the Sniper’s Bow, 16 Titans, and some Sea Wolves (all under uncontrolled Expert Tactics)... I sure caught him at the right time  . If I’d had to fight all that fairly, even 300 horned demons, 13 Archers, and 30 ducks might not have saved me. In combat stats, I was behind by about 10.

Out of curiosity, I checked Pink’s treasure zone after the game... Within two days of the town, 38 Cyclopes, 40 ducks, and a Dragon Utopia are gathering there... Who. Would. Have. Guessed. :D :D

Thanks for the game.

Opp asked if I wanted to scrawl. I thought I'd have plenty of time to play Cove later and offered my Inferno against any of the opponent's towns (expecting to scrawl on mini-Nostra, or at worst 8mm6a). In the end, I managed to scrawl mini-Nostra, and the comps were Castle, Rampart, and Dungeon (reminder - I'm playing Inferno :D ). One plan - don't meet the opponent. At all. Overwhelm with the authority of hundreds of demons :smile08: . In reality, it turned out... not quite according to plan)

On the first week, I was afraid of a trick from the generator at every step, but everything seemed perfect. An external dwelling of Gogs, Log–Earth as first skills, immediately guessed the comp - Castle, didn't make it, of course, 1 move short of the town, but the comp only managed to place a loh with 1 Griffin and didn't stick a Citadel.

I ran straight to Rampart on 114 after splitting via the external Tavern. True, the Castle's meat hero returned and I had to waste a turn with the main while the army ran to defend the town. I also didn't make it to Rampart in time, and the comp had the opportunity to hole up with all the meat in the Citadel, but instead decided to go somewhere else and just stick a Citadel in the empty town. I was totally fine with that. Turns out the comp had stuck upgraded Dendroids on the first week... 0_o

In the end, by the end of the first week, I took the two meatiest towns, built 1-6 without Pits in Castle (there was an external dwelling of Pits, decided to start demonizing on 3 initially, but in the end never got around to the external dwelling for the rest of the game).

On the second week, the plan was simple - take the visible Red Tower, use birds to grab the external dwelling of Pits behind the Cyclopes, there was some Griffin Conservatory visible too, and then - the treasure zone. But the chains were placed awkwardly and not on tempo, in the end we didn't get the Pits, gold ran out early, and one step from the treasure zone I decided to throw away my troops on a lot of Gorgons (which, at an average count of 39, turned out to be 45 with a grand stack). However, I still don't fully understand how Kalkh with Expert Archery and 62 Gogs can throw away troops on a lot of some damn Gorgons. A special, street-level skill. As a final chord in that fight, I finished off my own Fire Bird with splash damage, forgetting in time that they don't have fire immunity. In the end, I lost 4 demons and the bird, plus half a day of tempo and a ton of morale. I have no idea why I even went after them. They weren't guarding anything special, just standing off the road... Pure XP greed - hadn't gotten level-ups in a while and was asking for it.

By the end of the second week, things were already pretty bad - no money, few demons, and the only objects were one large Griffin Conservatory that I couldn't take. Expert Earth was leveled up, but Slow still wasn't found across three respawns (spoiler: found oil on the fourth week in the fifth or sixth built Guild). On 126, I cleared two Pandora's Boxes nearby along the road... One gave all Air spells, the other gave either all 4th level or all 5th level spells. Yeah, yeah, Wisdom was obviously missing.

At the beginning of the third week, the treasure zone finally yielded some Dragon Fly Hives, an external dwelling of Efreets, and a Dragon Utopia. Decided to transfer Magogs for lack of anything better, since everything around was walkable anyway.
On 135 with 60 demons and 20 dragon flies, we cracked open the first slag Dragon Utopia. Finally bought troops, brought the meat, the demon factory started rolling better. Behind the Giants 10-19, a suspicious scroll was found, which turned out to be Town Portal. Things got even better. Via TP, we grabbed all the goodies around the towns and entered the second treasure zone. The first thing we ate there... Another Town Portal scroll. Plus one Dragon Fly Hive. And that was it, that's the whole treasure zone within reach. The opponent already has Titans and great stats lit up.

I had to go to the third comp through forests, through mountains, through rivers, through fences. A hero with 3k movement points needed three days just to get from his native respawn to the Pink area. Along the way, we took the native slag Dragon Utopia. But in the Pink zone (who, reminder, is Orange's brother), we were immediately rewarded with a Dragon Utopia with the Speaker's Hat and the Sword of Justice... Well, obviously, who you have to go to for the chocolate fillings... :smile54:

With full control, things got really fun. On the 4th week, Angels were built in Castle, all the awkward Griffin Conservatories were taken, demons started slaughtering at accelerated tempos. On 146, finally learned Slow :smile41:. When there was nowhere left to run, I got cocky, peeked through DD into the treasure zone right under the opponent's nose. Didn't manage to steal much from there before the opponent arrived, but found Labetha in a prison with Expert Earth and tons of mana. That's where the second TP scroll came in handy. On 147, finally upgraded Archers.

At the beginning of the second month, I ate two Cyclops Stockpiles from under the opponent's nose in another treasure zone and was getting ready to dive through DD into Pink's treasure zone... But then the opponent decided it was time to power up in that treasure zone I had just fled from. TP-DD-hello. Via Mass Haste, I managed to grab almost all the meat on the loh and almost all the dragon flies on the main. A fight ensued. Turns out there was an Elixir, a Bow of the Sniper, 16 Titans, and Sea Wolves as filler (all under uncontrolled Expert Tactics)... Just in time I caught him  . If I'd had to fight all that honestly, even 300 horned ones, 13 Archers, and 30 dragon flies might not have saved me. In combat stats, I was about 10 behind.

Out of curiosity, I checked Pink's treasure zone after the game... Within two days of the village, 38 Cyclopes, 40 Dragon Flies, and a Dragon Utopia were gathering in it.... Who. Would. Have. Doubted. It. :D :D

Thanks for the game.
Everything in this match was in my hands, but I delayed my march to the opponent, for which I paid with a bitter defeat. I played well on tempo, had 12 Titans, a Citadel, and decent stats by 136. On the fourth week, the central treasure zone was cleared. Then I made the key mistake of the match — I turned around and went into another treasure zone instead of going to kill the opponent (lack of experience). I wanted to clear the treasure zone, find Air Control, wasted the timer, and forgot to use the Air Scrying eye. Left my army on a pocket hero))) Maybe even against 13 Archers and 300 grand Demons I could have won, but losing concentration cost me the match. I'll try to learn a lesson from this defeat... Thanks to my opponent for the game! And good luck in the further stages of the tournament!

Regarding the Pit for LM vs RozenKran game - judging by the tone of the report, it is presented as a game from the 1st round, however, RozenKran deleted the post with the tournament registration, and also does not have a qualifying game.

As a result, the mentioned game, in terms of status, is either a friendly match or a qualification game for RozenKran (depending on how to interpret the fact of deleting the post).

A request to the participants of the game to clarify their position on this issue.
RozenKran said that he already has a huge number of games on HotA + they say that he even played a qualification game here. Regarding the deleted post - there were some glitches with the registration, as far as I understand. But he was added to the list of participants, I activated him. It should all be correct...

I played just terribly. The game dragged on for a very long time. On day 116, I lost my entire army to a horde of shooters and almost lost my main hero. I was wiped out, bought back in Castle, and went in the opposite direction. I invested as much as possible in leveling up my hero since I saw no other option. I recaptured the computer's Castle only on day 125 (Ramp). From there, I gathered cavalry and meat and went to defeat the Conservatory pre-max. I beat it on day 132 (by bringing up the remaining troops). Things went better after that, but I never found control until the end of the game (I built 5 Mage Guilds). The roads were very long, so I just took everything that was along the way. I encountered only one Dragon Utopia, on the other end of the map. A little later, roughly in the same area, I also encountered my opponent. I attacked, and on the first round, my opponent surrendered.

Thanks for the game:)

I played just awful. Game is happened to become very long. On the 116 I've lost all my army on the horde of marksmens and almost lost main hero. Crashed back to the main town and start to move in other direction. I was trying to make my hero as strong as it's possible, cause I haven't seen other ways to win. On the 125 I took 2-nd town (Ramp). Took the unicorns and other creatures to defeat the conservatory. Took conservatory on the 131. After that i was fine but I couldn't find DD, TP or Fly till the end of the game (have builded 5 mg). Roads were very long, so I took everything that was near them. Found only 1 utopia on the other side of the map and not far from there i found my opponent. I attacked him and in the 1-st round he gave up.

Thanks for the game :)

It was a messy game, I misjudged the Pandoras and the scroll :). In the end, I only got out on day 124 after upgrading all my troops.
We played without restarts. I had a block of 24 Medusas under my castle, but they broke through fairly easily and gave a Pandora's Box with 5k gold. Right next to it, I immediately take an external dwelling of Nix. I also spotted two external dwellings of Nymphs and an external dwelling of Serpents. Time to play.
On day 112, I scouted the area and saw another external dwelling of Serpents. There are also several Pandora's Boxes and Angel Wings. In the corner of the respawn is a Dragon Utopia.
Day 113 - slowly leveling up on Crypts and Graveyards.
Day 114 - I decided to start with the Pandora's Box guarded by 20-49 Ogres, since they were also guarding a Refugee Camp. 48 Ogres  A pretty tough fight, but thanks to the terrain, I got through almost without losses, too bad one Nix got eaten due to morale. In the Pandora's Box there's 10k gold. In the camp - Peasants. I don't risk attacking the one with 10-19 Nagas yet, but I should have, there was 10k experience there.
On day 115 I grab the first external dwelling of Serpents, on day 116 the second.
On day 117 I reach the first town, grabbing Boots along the way. I clear the second external dwelling of Nix. At home, the first 7 dwellings without 3 in the Stronghold.
Day 121 - I take two Zephyrs of 8 and 6. I have Expert Earth, but there's no Slow anywhere. So I have to hold back and wait for upgrades.
Day 122 - a couple of banks, I went to replenish mana, bought a spell book.
Day 123 - I reached GO. By this point I was very far behind the opponent.
Day 124 - I find a Slow scroll, and it makes the game. I break through GO very easily. Anabelle is right nearby. The stats are harsh, tons of troops. No room to retreat, nothing to do, I visit the library and attack.
His stats are 21-17-18-13, 40 Wiverns, 5 Serpents, 4 Chaos Hydras.
My stats - 11-8-6-6, 8 Aspids, 14 Cyclopes, 14 Nix Warriors, and a horde of Nymphs.
But there's no mana! And no money to buy it back! The result turned out to be catastrophic - the opponent bought back with 4 Nix, losing everything else, while I only lost a few Nymphs.
Not everything in the center was eaten. On day 125 I grab 8 Cyclopes, the Thunder Helmet, and hole up in the town. Unfortunately, there's no Tavern or Mage Guild there, and I can't build them.
On day 126 I take another Zephyr of 8, the Titan's Cuirass, and break towards the home Dragon Utopia. It gives an average reward - Gladius and +3 to all stats. The problem is the lack of magic.
On day 127 the opponent comes out into the center again. I reach him on the last tile and decide to attack. I get hit by Chain Lightning, but it only takes out half a stack of Cyclopes. It's manageable, reinforcements are coming soon, and I have enough money. But things look grim for the opponent - no troops at all, very little money, and from his towns only the capital, where he needs to sit for another day to replenish mana. GG.
Thank you for the game!
A very messy game with a bunch of fails.
I got out on day 122 with 40 Wiverns and 8 Serpents without Slow
Fail #1 I couldn't find a Scholar anywhere all game to relearn Slow, it turned out the hut was right near the castle with Literacy
Fail #2 I didn't find any View spots until exiting, the first Expert Air appeared the day before the Fortress
Fail #3 as a result, I went the wrong way twice and didn't find the central towns to replenish mana, even though I had plenty of time
Also, it was unpleasant not to find a single Dragon Utopia on Jebus after 2 weeks, even though I scouted a fair amount of treasure zones
Thanks for the game :)

According to the draw with TwinkieThecake: I asked him to post in the tournament thread on the same day about withdrawing.

Until what date should we wait for him to appear?
I confirm, I am withdrawing from the tournament. I apologize, I won't be able to play.

Confirm the result. I was more "lucky" just Conservatories in my way, only one Hive in my starting zone, too far to take it. No Utopia and no important artifact. I spent 2 months searching for money and artifacts, but I had no chance. My opponent had double the stats and started the fight with berserkers, dealing heavy damage. Thanks for the game.

I arrived at the opponent in time with 42 ducks; had I given him a bit of time to recover, I would have been utterly crushed.
Thank you to the opponent for the game.
P.S. Qualification
I confirm, the opponent played excellently. I had a respawn in the blocks, but in the underground my native town had 3 external dwellings of nix and 2 external dwellings of serpents, also under strong guards. I also scouted 7 drowned. I barely avoided losing to 90 upgraded ogres. In the end, I planned to play for the late game, but then on turn 131 the opponent arrived and sat down in a town nearby, presumably to replenish mana, as I thought. He had 1-4 angels, 20-49 ducks, and a few more single ducks. I decided to attack immediately, bought everything I could — 13 nix and 40 pirates, plus a few single birds. As it turned out, there were 40 ducks there, which I hadn't expected, and in the end I got crushed.
Thank you to the opponent for the game; it was truly a good lesson for me. Good luck in future tournaments; I hope to meet again)
