This topic has probably been discussed before, but still: does anyone think that the fourth installment (the original, of course) has the best campaign storylines compared to the fifth and sixth? I personally hold that opinion: truly strong stories about individual characters in pivotal moments of their lives, with a moderate amount of epic scale, and the world isn't facing any grand threat in principle (except for the entity that the Necromancer's teacher served).
Of course, if you consider the storylines with the expansions, The Coming Storm and Warlords will fall flat and be lifeless compared to the quite decent Hammers of Fate and Tribes of the East...
Undoubtedly, the storylines of the original campaigns in the fourth installment are wonderful; I would even say that they are not only better than those in the fifth and sixth, but even better than some of those in the third, where everything is always gloomy and quickly becomes tiresome.
