I have an army consisting of a Barbarian, a Crusader, a Commander, and Barbarian units. The question is: are the tactical bonuses of the Crusader and Commander added together, or does only the hero with the higher tactical skill provide the bonus?
All tactical skills work independently for each hero. You can have one hero with Grand Master tactics and Expert attack and defense, another with Expert Tactics and Grand Master attack, a third with Expert Tactics and Grand Master defense, and a fourth with Expert Tactics and Grand Master leadership – all of them will provide a bonus equivalent to the bonus of one Grand Master tactician across all four skills. You can even see this in the army window on the strategic map.
The summation of bonuses from skills and artifacts is much more complex. There are two cases:
1. The tactician does not have an advanced class related to the bonus for defense/attack/morale. Then, in battle, the bonuses from the best tactical skills and the best artifacts of different heroes will be added together. That is, the army can have 5 heroes: one of them is a great tactician, the second has great attack artifacts, the third has defense artifacts, the fourth has morale artifacts, and the fifth has luck artifacts. This is how it's done in online games so that in the final battle, the opponent cannot defeat one hero and immediately negate all the bonuses for the army.
2. The tactician has an advanced class that increases the bonus for defense/attack/morale of the army. This is tactics + nobility, tactics + combat, tactics + scouting, tactics + nature. Then, all artifacts related to the bonus of the advanced class will only work on the tactician. That is, having a General (tactics + combat) who gives +1 morale to the army, you are forced to equip all morale artifacts on the Tactician so that they work in battle.
Once again, I would like to point out that the summation of bonuses only occurs in battle; on the strategic map, you only see the bonuses from the tactician.
