CIS without VaTy or without a mirror/MM6 is no longer CIS, and I'm sorry... and the attitude towards it (the tournament) will be accordingly.
Let's remember all the games on 8MM6 in Odessa. PReDS vs. Scorpion, Lizard vs. Scorpion, Satyr vs. someone... then KobRa_RR
It's better to ask VIK about questions regarding the duration of games, he's an expert)
After the second round, this expert banned playing 8MM6 by completely removing it from the list. KobRa_RR
I would add that with a rebuildable tower, there are usually no questions, and if you want to prolong the game, you can do it on the same Jobu without any problems! (Kostya Lizard won't deny it))
I also thought so, so in Novosibirsk I allowed PReDS and Napalm to play 8MM6 full-VT, thinking that since they are experienced players, they wouldn't prolong the game... how wrong I was... I'm not even talking about the fact that in the middle of the night, a gray Castle suddenly appeared, and I had to spend a lot of time healing it. KobRa_RR
P.S. I played 4 games in Odessa in full-VT, there were no desynchronizations, maybe the HD-MOD saved us)
I can immediately recall several games where one player had one type of terrain, and the other had a different type. We can also recall a very difficult final game, Medium vs. Bayazet, where a desynchronization occurred. And my game with Vodik, where on turn 141 the game simply crashed, and no loading, rollbacks, or save healing helped, so we just had to award the win. Maybe I forgot something?
Personally, I would like to see a tournament played only on mirrored maps, without experience, tax, bank, or classes. But this is just a suggestion; ultimately, the participants should decide.
A timer of 8 (9/10/11/12) hours, after which the decision is made.
That's also a good idea. 10 hours of real time per match + 1 hour in case of an obvious resolution within that hour (e.g., a fast break, a turn leading to a fast break, etc.). There are no problems with keeping track. The judge will always have assistants. We will have everything in order with the internet, equipment, and screens (this criterion was also used when selecting the "Galactica" venue).
2Kostya (Dirty): Personally, I have no problem playing Jebus SoD against SoD players. But with Warlock players, I would naturally prefer a mirror match or a Might & Magic VI full game. More for fun than anything else. I think my position is close to almost any Warlock player and will be perfectly accepted by any SoD player.
There will be no problems with setting a time limit for each match.
IMHO, if you're going to use 8mm6 for these formats, you should only play on fast tracks with rest periods between matches up to 113! (inclusive). Just some thoughts out loud.
Сейчас балуюсь этим https://vcmi.eu/download/ За то что нейтралы не бегают за единичкой, для меня это уже стоит того
Bone, the issue isn't about whether it's possible or not (I can play any version without problems), but rather about the technical aspects. Many would like to see HL+U templates, but it's very impractical to judge after N hours on such templates because the winner might not be clear, as it's unclear who is ahead. Also, we really don't want to see desynchronizations and important and interesting matches being cut short because of them.
Personally, I would like to see a tournament on mirror maps only, without experience, tax, bank, or classes. ...
If we consider this from the perspective of a skill indicator, I don't quite agree; skill should be universal, not focused on just one thing.
Regarding the debate about versions and the "coin flip": let's look at it from the perspective of a SOD player, a VT player, and a universal player: if it's SOD, the chances are 50/50 (or 51/49? :D), if it's VT, it's 5-10 to 90-95(?), and for a universal player, it's 50-50 in both cases (it depends on personal preference). And when comparing percentages, it's not a coin flip, but rather a 50% or 5-10% chance of winning.
How can we balance the versions for players? Let's say there are 20 players, and each votes, distributing 100% between SOD/VT or SOD against VT. The calculations:
SOD player: 100% (SOD), 0% (VT), and 0% (SOD_VT)
VT player: 0% (SOD), 100% (VT), and 0%
...
Universal player: 20%, 75%, and 5%
Each column is summed and divided by 20, and that's how the distribution (ratio) of templates across versions is determined. (But I also think this option isn't entirely "fair"). ***Perhaps a coefficient for fairness?
From the organizer's point of view, it's also understandable that they want to organize something they enjoy.
It's not about whether I can or can't (I can play any version without problems), but about the technical side of the issue. Many would like to see HL+U templates, but it's very silly to judge after N hours on such templates, because the winner may not be clear, as it's not clear who is outperforming whom. Also, we really don't want to see desynchronizations and important and interesting matches that are not finished because of them.
We also don't want a lack of interesting matches in general. On MM6 and the Mirror map, there are (in the case of a match between two worthy players) a much higher percentage of them than on CM, Jebus, and other small SoD templates. However, some people find it interesting to make complex strategic decisions using the abilities of all 8 heroes and a bunch of objects on the map, while others find it interesting to take a necropolis with a strange army with minimal losses. It's a matter of taste, of course.
If we're talking about it from the perspective of a skill indicator, I don't entirely agree. Skill should be universal, not tailored to just one thing.
And for whom is it tailored to the specified rules? Mirror matches are usually played with full-WT and often with new confluxes. The mentioned option is good because it minimizes the randomness in determining the winner, and it doesn't deviate too much from SoD, unlike full-WT with confluxes.
In general, I would recommend not arguing about SoD vs. WT, but rather playing WT without experience penalty, bank, or class restrictions, as most of those who voted for SoD also play WT; they simply prefer to include fewer modifications.
You can choose several tournament algorithms for various ratio options based on the number of people "VT - VT-sub-SoD - SoD", and then implement the resulting version on-site, depending on who actually arrives)
Mirrors are usually played with full build-in timers and often with new constraints. The mentioned option is good because itminimizes the randomness in determining the winner.
Believe me, for an intelligent viewer, there is far more action in a mirror match than in a mindless Jebus Cross. But if you're catering to the chat room crowd, then yes — it's a total bore :D
Added after 10 minutes By the way, folks, since we're on the topic of mirror matches, it's the perfect time to introduce the Hexagamirror template into the topic. It's quick, at least it doesn't take longer to play than Jebus Cross games, it's contact-heavy, and most importantly, skill-based. My impressions of it are only positive; practically no downsides have been noticed. As an option, Hipercubemirror, but I can't say anything about it since I've only tested it about 2 times.
