Hello everyone! The CIS Championship 2014 will be held in the suburbs of Minsk at this wonderful location: http://galakt.by

Dates: from April 30, 2014 to May 7, 2014. Game days: from May 1, 2014 to May 6, 2014 inclusive.

Below is information about the tournament.

1. Default game version

WT without tax, without creature experience, without bank, without classes, with Mage Guild restructuring, without grand stack, without neutral morale, with scrolls converted into gold, with one-sided maps. For those who are not familiar with WT, you can find the innovations compared to SoD here: http://heroeswt.net/features.php. There are many, but only 5-7 are essential and really define the gameplay, so it's not difficult to learn.

By mutual agreement, players can play any version.
In case of playing on SoD, the default rules are used: HW rules, strict chess timer: 16:8:1.

2. Templates

jebus cross (fast roads, timer 4000+500, subjective restarts 2 days in total, no restarts upon meeting, redrash prohibited),
8mm6a (medium roads, timer 4000+500, subjective restarts 3 days in total, restart upon meeting up to round 116 inclusive, redrash allowed),
diamond (medium roads, timer 4000+400, subjective restarts 2 days in total, restart upon meeting up to round 115 inclusive, redrash prohibited, one-sided maps option disabled),
2sm4d(3) (medium roads, timer 4000+400, subjective restarts 2 days in total, restart upon meeting up to round 115 inclusive, redrash prohibited),
h3dm1 (medium roads, timer 4000+500, no subjective restarts, redrash allowed, entering the opponent's plane on the first week - allowed).

Objective restarts (blocks, lack of road to ГО, etc.) for all templates – only after subjective ones.

Castles are determined by a button in the WT chat, followed by trading. For mirror matches, the first castle from the selected pair is chosen. The color is also determined by trading. You can "regenerate" once for 500 game gold. If at least 1 castle from the previous pair appears after regeneration, you can regenerate again for free.

3. Tournament scheme

Olympic format with 32 players, draw for rounds 1-2 and rounds 3-4 (new draw after round 2). If there are fewer than 32 participants, those who wish may be freely admitted to the second round in order of priority: 1. Champions of previous CIS tournaments; 2. Organizers-participants (Lizzy and Vasya); 3. Participants who have added at least 1/2 bayin to the prize pool first (i.e., at least $25 to a $50 bayin).

4. Entry fee (buy-in)

$70 USD per participant, $20 USD per spectator/fan (excluding wives, children, etc.).

5. Additional prize fund from organizers: currently $1000 USD. Possible change towards an increase.

6. Prizes

1st place - $2000 USD,
2nd place - 2/3 of the remaining prize fund,
3rd place - 1/3 of the remaining prize fund.

Please refrain from discussing versions and other related topics here. There is a dedicated thread for that: "CIS-2014 DISCUSSION". This thread is only for registration!

I received a call from the base and was asked to provide an estimated application for the event, as the May holidays are a very popular time. I provided an estimated application, so without delay, I created this thread.

All information about the base can be found here: galakt.by

Please register in the following format:

Nickname: real name and surname; city; participant/spectator/organizer; preferred game version; 3 favorite/preferred templates; availability of laptop(s); preferred room type (cheap - around $20/night, expensive - $40+/night); ICQ/Skype; mobile phone.

If anyone is planning to buy plane/train tickets soon, you can (and should) immediately add information about the arrival date and time, flight number, etc.

The base will be rented from 04/30/2014 to 05/07/2014. The tournament itself will take place from 05/01/2014 to 05/06/2014.

Tue the forum is still alive?

Lizard, when you're here, please post the main details: dates, list of those who have already registered, and the location. There are many more people reading here.

I myself would like to go to Minsk, it would be especially interesting to meet the old guard: Paladin, Roland, and of course Besha.
Haven't heard anything from them?

Interesting. I will definitely try to participate, even if only as a spectator.

Therefore, at the moment, I suggest discussing the possibility of holding the CIS-2014 Heroes 3 tournament a little later than the usual dates (May holidays), namely: from May 17, 2013, to May 23, 2013. Besides the Russia - Belarus match, there is another advantage: at the end of May, it is usually warmer in Minsk than at the beginning, by about 6-8 degrees.
In my opinion, postponing the date is complete nonsense. If we go by the weather, we could move it to the summer. Hockey is a nice bonus, but it is by no means the reason for the trip. I'm not even talking about the problems it will create for the tournament. The May holidays were chosen to use the weekends for the trip. Not everyone has the opportunity to take a full vacation for this. Postponing the dates means losing half (at least) of the participants. IMHO.

Will the SOD brotherhood show up for the VT sub-SOD?

Will the SOD brotherhood show up for the VT-based SOD?
As the harsh reality shows, the VT project is dead. You can throw tomatoes at me, but there is clear evidence of this, apart from my personal opinion: there is a slow outflow of players from VT. Almost nothing of the innovations announced at the project's launch has been implemented.
As a regular participant in Tournaments, I can state: the only thing that keeps VT as the main tournament version is the presence of symmetrical templates (at the last CIS tournament, as far as I remember, it was the leader in the number of games played). And even here there is a catch: Ivor has long made a normal built-in generator for symmetrical templates, and asm has not been able to integrate it into VT for 2 years, as a result: Cobra and I played a buggy generation with one secondary and either 12 or 16 sides in Odessa. You could say we are idiots, but the situation, for example, was repeated in the game between Bayazet and Valenko as part of the team tournament on heroeswt.

The conclusion is simple: I suggest declaring SOD with the XD mod as the basic version for Minsk 2014, in addition to games on symmetrical templates. And let's all ask the baratorch to go against the principles and slightly influence the gameplay: make an optional ability to rebuild the GM - in my opinion, this is the only critical drawback of SOD. In a recent game with Mizrael: I had a TP right away in the tavern library, and he had 4 built GMs and a SoSo Pavliashvili.

Yes, I agree; the abundance of bugs prevents VT from being the primary version for any significant event, as sad as that may be.
I'm all for SoD with the HD mod, since it is stable and has forward momentum. It's a real shame that there are no mirror templates here yet, indeed)))
Regarding the restructuring of the Mage Guild — it's a sound idea; if, for example, baratorch could make such a patch specifically for a tournament, that would be super!

A mirror template with judge preview as a tool for competitive gameplay in "King's Bounty" eliminates SOD (Save-Or-Die) with any existing mods.

In other words, Preds wrote something close to the truth, but the way Stinger developed the idea is no longer appealing.

What a horror. What are you even talking about?

A mirrored template with a судья preview as a tool for competitive battles in the mud destroys SOD with any existing mods.
With all due respect: participate in at least one offline tournament first.
The basic version means that it is played by default if two hardcore SOD players meet – no one prevents them from playing on their favorite version. However, something tells me that if this happens, they will play Jeb, not a mirrored version. :D

P.S. By the way, maybe Kostya didn't notice yesterday in the chat: I'm betting 1000 on Bertvolga not making it to Minsk (I mean the dates of the tournament).

With all due respect: first of all, try participating in at least one offline tournament.
The base version means that it is played by default; if two ardent WT players meet, nothing stops them from playing their favorite version. Only something tells me that if this happens, they will play Jeb, not a mirror.:D

But he did participate) Though it was a long time ago and on fixes :)
Anyway, regarding the topic... the WT developers have completely run out of enthusiaSM, so let's see how SoD develops. There is also HotA; VIK wrote that he is actively mastering it, it would be good to know his impressions..
Dima, and I'll bet just as much on LeBron :D

Kinda yeah, with the current dog-and-cat fight between Mee and asm, it looks like the CIS will have to play on SoD.

Especially since Nagan and Tvaryna aren't exactly rushing to organize a SoD champ either.

P.S. HotA currently makes a pleasant impression both in terms of concept and what has already been done. If the developers also turn out to be reasonable and not lazy (I can't evaluate this parameter yet), it could very well push VT aside as the main alternative to SoD.

HOTА is primarily appealing due to its new Castle and the uncertainty regarding the balance.

Yeah, the new Castle turned out to be quite nice, and I'm currently discussing the balance with the developers.

Well, we can all collectively ask the developers to go against their principles and slightly influence the gameplay: make an optional feature to rebuild Guild Masters - in my opinion, this is the only critical flaw in SoD. In a recent game with Mizrael: I had a Town Portal spell right away in the Tavern Library, and he had 4 built Guild Masters and a powerful Pavliashvili.
This would not be the SoD that we all love so much

Such significant changes are normal for gameplay mods (WT, Hota), but they do not align with the ideology of HDmod.

Moreover, if you're going to play a campaign on SoD, you'll have to remove all XL+U maps from the template list, as they can lead to unacceptable time delays (your games with Eddie and Scorpio are an example of this). And on L-sized maps, control is not as crucial.
