SECOND OFFLINE HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC I TOURNAMENT "NEIGHBORS"

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the second offline tournament for Heroes of Might and Magic I "NEIGHBORS", you must register on our website www.heroesworld.ru, as well as submit an application in this thread.

P.S. This tournament is held as part of the general same-named Cunningham tournament, therefore all information, as well as its progress and results, will be displayed in that section.
Турнир имени Jov Van Caneghem-а на HeroesWorld

Note: final tournament results will also be available in the offline tournaments section for Heroes of Might and Magic I.

2. The tournament is played on the Russian version of Heroes of Might and Magic I from Buka. The save will be generated on Russian version 1.1.

3. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy.
The submitted save must contain the tournament number (2), the participant's number in the application table, the abbreviation (C - NEIGHBORS) and the player's Nick.

Example:

2_1_C_VDV_forever.GM1
2_2_C_AlexeyPank.GM1

4. The result will be evaluated, first and foremost, by the minimum time.
If several players have an equal walkthrough time, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING EQUIPPED ARTIFACTS; if a favorite is still not determined, then by the amount of mercury.

5. Along with the submitted save, it is mandatory to provide a description of the final step (battle with a hero, battle for a castle, capturing an artifact, victory over the last monster) after which victory occurs, or the walkthrough of the scenario.

6. The submitted save must have only one conquering hero who performs the final action (others should simply be dismissed).

7. It is forbidden: to buy back your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-buyback" trick);
it is also forbidden to buy heroes who died in battle (not to be confused with those who fled)!

8. It is forbidden: to move a bought-back hero who fled/paid off in battle on the day they fled/paid off. Buying such a hero is allowed, but they can only be moved the following day;

9.It is forbidden: To dig up the Grail without fully uncovering the puzzle map.

10. It is forbidden: to use cheating programs, codes, as well as additional software that can change the game structure.

11. Send the save to the email address VDV_forever@BK.RU

12. In case of suspicion of cheating or other malicious intent during the map walkthrough, a save must be made every game day.
In such a case (detection of cheating), the player will be required to send additional saves and provide a description of the walkthrough to the tournament organizer to determine whether the play was unfair or honest.
The result of a player who played dishonestly will be voided, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

13. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
(Players who violate this rule automatically exclude themselves from playing the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).

14. The tournament starts on February 1 and lasts until February 28 (inclusive!). Results will be announced on March 3, 2007.

15. After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nick.
save counted - indicated by an italicized bold Nick.

This list may be expanded with new participants!
We invite everyone to take part in the tournament!

Saves will only be considered for players who are in this table, so submit your applications IN ADVANCE!!!

Everything about the starting save

Starting save
from 01.02.07 download
save:
map from which the save was generated:

1. Download the save.

2. The downloaded Save must be placed on your computer in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes of Might and Magic I.

3. Load it and start playing at any time convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

4. After reaching the final action (after which victory occurs), save again.

5. With the final save, describe this last step in detail (most likely a battle); then the results will be processed faster and there will be fewer suspicions of cheating!!!

6. A full description of the tournament map is encouraged (optional). If such descriptions are provided, a contest for the best description will be held; 10 of them (the very best) will take their place of honor in the "Hall of Fame" section!

7. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

8. Wait for the results.

P.S. I wish all tournament participants a great time playing and, most importantly, VICTORY!

P.S.S. If there are any additions or comments, please do not hesitate to speak up to minimize disagreements and shortcomings in the same-named process of the tournament.
Sincerely, VDV_forever

I also have a question...
VDV_forever;65988
7. Prohibited: redeeming your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-redemption" tactic);
it is also forbidden to buy heroes who died in battle (do not confuse with those who fled)!
Is it forbidden to buy heroes who died in battle at all? Or only on the same day (i.e., the day of death)? And what about the hit & run tactic? Because I don't pay attention to whether this hero has already died or not...

:) That's exactly what I want to say. Someone might not pay attention and accidentally buy them back, which is quite possible. Someone might do it out of ignorance, and someone might do it intentionally. They banned it, but how do you check? Theoretically, you can check, but how much time would that take? It's impossible to check all saves for all players. I wouldn't bother with the bans. Everyone has limited funds, and buying a hero back multiple times in one turn is very expensive, especially with troops. So, if someone can afford it, why not? Fewer problems with checks, and all players will still be on a level playing field.
P.S. What if you suggest not allowing players to buy back more than one hero per turn? Explanation: In one turn, I can buy 5-7 heroes. I can move their troops to the Fortress. Then I buy the eighth, and I move them all out. The last one takes all the troops (a significant number). What's the point of buildings in the Fortress, etc., then? What do you think? The only problem is where to get so much money

I think we should leave everything as it was. After all, the first Heroes game is truly different from the second and third. Here, resources are scarce, just like in real life – either you have none, or very little. Therefore, the "run away and buy" mechanic isn't that easy to implement. And even without the aforementioned restriction, there would be fewer questions.

I suggest banning the possibility of buying back dismissed or escaped heroes altogether, except in cases where the AI player attacks a hero, and in auto-battle mode, the option to retreat is offered.

Oh, and let's also ban taking genies from lamps – they're too overpowered, ban capturing gold mines (the castle already provides money), and ban collecting artifacts (the hero's power increases too much)!
Oh, and we should also ban using spells!
And in general, look what they've come up with – buying heroes! The one you get at the start is enough!

But then it would be King's Bounty, not Heroes :)

Or maybe ban hiring heroes altogether... We need to look at things realistically!

In the BB tournament, there was no ban on redeeming a losing hero! But there (in Heroes 3) isn't a bug with an infinite number of turns! Therefore, it should be forbidden to redeem a losing/escaping/dismissed hero on the same day (I hope this option will be adopted).

Sincerely.

Seriously, guys, what kind of argument are you having? By agreeing to participate in the tournament, you agreed to follow the RULES of this tournament, not to modify them as you go. Read carefully what the organizer writes and stick to it! Check periodically for any changes, and that's it. Why create unnecessary headaches for organizer VDV_forever? He'll have enough work checking our saves later!

With respect to everyone.

I have a question regarding this point. You can escape, and you can buy back an escaped hero. But if there is only one castle, and let's say 2-3 heroes need to escape to it at the same time, how can they be bought back if you can't move them on that day?
Or do you mean that you can't have more than one hero escape? Maybe allow the rescued hero to move along the castle so that he doesn't block the gate, or something?

If you have 1 castle, you can have 10 heroes escape, but you can only buy back 1 of them on that day in your only castle!

If you have 2 castles, then 2 heroes, and so on.

It means on the same day (I think that's how it's written in the rules).

I'll be watching you when you try to get your hero back the next day, considering that another hero is in front of him (at least 2500 losses:)).

or maybe completely ban hiring heroes...
we really need to look at things realistically!

In the BB tournament, there was no ban on buying back a defeated hero! But there (in the third game) isn't a bug with an infinite number of turns! Therefore, it is necessary to prohibit buying back a defeated/fled/dismissed hero on the same day (I hope this option will be adopted).

Sincerely.

The ban applies only to a DEFEATED, DISMISSED HERO,
and does not apply to a FLED or "BRIBER" hero:)

I think I'll go ahead and download the first Heroes game. The one on the disc keeps refusing to work.
Oh... it's working now. Now I'll try to complete the map.

My question is - how will you check ALL players to ensure they comply with this ban? Otherwise, I'm not against it - after some additional clarifications, everything is clear.

I have a question – how will you check ALL players to ensure they comply with this ban?...In general, I don't know how all players are checked.
I think that the first 3 players (or maybe 5-10, depending on the number of participants) are checked more carefully.
No one will check all players.

Ultimately, with daily saves, it's possible to check almost everyone.

I was just expressing my opinion . I see that it didn't receive much approval, so I won't claim that we should discuss it further here. And in general, it's better to get back to playing the game :smile29:.
