The main thing is to consider the lack of Cyrillic characters everywhere (file name, path to the game, etc.), the correct location of the necessary files, the total length of paths and names. A different folder name for the game and its location do not matter if addressed correctly (I constantly rename and copy mine - everything works very well)
And if there is a difficult-to-solve bug, there is always a way out - just reinstall the game following the rules described above.

Did you try running it with administrator privileges? On my Windows 7, almost all programs are blocked if I don't run them with administrator rights.

I had the same problem, I struggled with it for a long time. Sometimes I create a really huge map, but the save file is only 1KB, and after that, neither the editor nor the game can open it. I searched for an answer here but didn't find it. Eventually, I remembered that in the description of some maps (on this site), it says that they are mods and should be deleted after playing. I removed all the maps from the Maps folder, and then the editor started working.

I have Tribes of the East version 3.1, and I created the map from scratch. The map size is 5.06 MB.

My map also stopped opening at 5.06 MB. The size probably matters.

I have the same problem, but not in the editor, but in the game itself. The first launch was normal (a test run), but after the fixes, the map stopped loading. Here's what happens: I set the hero parameters, click "start," the loading screen appears, and then I'm immediately taken back to the main menu.
