But, alas: they are not authorities for us! We have other authorities, and their opinion carries weight for us. Those same pseudo-scientists have nothing but cross-references to each other's "works" and statistics of varying degrees of distortion. But not a single reliable fact, not a single official source!

I've watched various debates featuring Mr. Zhdanov several times. Overall, I appreciate what he tries to do and his principles, but the methods he proposes to achieve results, and the techniques he suggests for reaching the goal, unfortunately, negate all the positive impressions. It seems that the person has experienced a significant personal tragedy related to alcohol, and now it greatly hinders his ability to objectively assess the problem and offer solutions that are truly relevant to the current time and place.

His methods involve a complete ban on alcohol propaganda and advertising, including advertising for so-called "moderate drinking" in any form. What's so criminal about that? What other methods does he propose? Currently, almost every channel features numerous diverse TV series, each of which, in one way or another, promotes alcohol consumption – essentially, it's alcohol propaganda. Alcoholism is treated by addiction specialists; therefore, alcoholism is nothing more than drug addiction. Alcohol is only necessary for those who lack other joys in life and don't know how to relax in other ways. Why do people drink in the first place? In my opinion, it's to experience certain states and, ultimately, to enjoy those states. But there are so many diverse methods and ways to enjoy life that a reasonable person has no need for alcohol at all. A woman who is planning to have children should absolutely, strictly, and under no circumstances drink alcohol, not even a drop in any form. Otherwise, her child will, at worst, simply be mentally deficient (in the medical sense of the word), and at best, a child whose mother has consumed alcohol even in small amounts will have a severely weakened immune system, plus many other various disorders and diseases (including chronic ones). In other words, alcohol completely eliminates a woman's ability to give birth to a healthy child. And by the way, a dry law should be implemented at all costs to defeat this scourge – it only has positive effects, and no objective negative consequences, as practice shows. In 1985-1986, Gorbachev, at Ligachev's suggestion, introduced a dry law for only two years, and the result was: 1) The amount of alcohol consumed per capita decreased from 12 liters (of pure alcohol) to 4. 2) The number of sick newborns decreased. 3) The number of crimes committed throughout the country decreased. And there was no widespread illegal alcohol, no widespread moonshine production. And this is just the result of a partial implementation of the dry law. The biggest problem is that people have been convinced through powerful propaganda that they have always drunk non-stop throughout history, that drinking is normal, and that they should "drink moderately." "Drinking moderately" on holidays is roughly the same as "stealing moderately" on holidays! One person asks another: - Do you steal? - No! What are you talking about?! I only steal on holidays. ariputra, I definitely agree with you on this point: alcohol and drugs are a great evil, and we need to fight them together, using various methods! Unfortunately, this fight has been going on for many centuries with varying degrees of success. And here, without any "conspiracy theory" or "Dulles plan," it is clear that it is beneficial for the state for people to drink! Because alcohol is a product, and there will always be demand for it, even if it is not advertised at all (therefore, a ban on alcohol advertising is desirable, but it is not very effective in itself).

Let's just say that millions of your fellow citizens who are not alcoholics, who don't even think about it, but simply live, work, and occasionally have a drink, would be throwing stones at you, and I won't even mention those who are suffering.
